Chapter 654: Helicopters
"Hey, awake?"
Seeing her trying to move away, the man's voice grew even more excited.
They were driving a large truck. Connie was in the cargo hold. The man easily jumped into the back and walked towards her.
Reaching her, he crouched down and yanked off the fabric that had been covering her head.
Upon seeing Connie's face, he leered, "Great figure and such a pretty face! Seems like I hit the jackpot today!"
With that, he reached out to grab at Connie's clothes.
In her terror, Connie erupted with a strength she never knew she had, struggling desperately. Even with her hands and feet bound, the man momentarily couldn't control her.
At this moment, Connie had only one thought: she absolutely could not let this man succeed!
The man grew angrier. He simply grabbed Connie by the hair and dragged her out of the truck.
A sharp pain shot through Connie's scalp as her body hit the ground heavily, stars bursting before her eyes.
But she forced herself to stay conscious. At a time like this, she absolutely could not lose the will to fight, or she would truly become meat on a chopping block, completely at their mercy!
Two other men stood outside the truck and laughed mockingly at the sight.
"You sure you can handle this? Can't even manage one woman?"
"Should've known better than to let you go first. If you can't do it, let me take over!"
The man beside Connie, his eyes red with fury, raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face. "Still fighting back? You must have a death wish!"
Connie quickly scanned her surroundings.
They were on a very remote road, surrounded by weeds, desolate and uninhabited.
No wonder they dared to stop here and even drag her out. This place didn't look like anyone would pass by.
She knew her resistance probably seemed like a joke to these three men, but she refused to give up. Even if she failed in the end, she absolutely would not bow down to these beasts!
"Seems like I need to teach you a lesson today!"
The man spoke as he started dragging Connie towards a thicket of weeds.
"Hey, what are you doing?" another man asked.
"Why not do it in the truck?"
"Not enough space in there, can't really get into it!"
Hearing this, the other two men snickered lewdly.
Connie struggled with all her might but was finally shoved heavily onto the weedy ground by the man. Ignoring the tangled weeds, she rolled several times to the side, only to be dragged back again.
"Run? Where do you think you're running to!"
The man slapped her again.
Connie tasted blood in her mouth. But at this moment, the fear in her heart strangely vanished, replaced by burning anger in her eyes.
She would never forgive them, even as a ghost... Never!
Just as the man reached out to tear at her clothes again, he heard a strange sound.
Then came the voices of the other two men.
"Damn it!"
"Go, go now!"
The other two men scrambled frantically into the truck. The man standing over Connie turned his head to look. In the sky not far away, several helicopters were flying directly towards them!
And by the look of them, they were police helicopters!
All color drained from his face. He
quickly hauled Connie up from the ground, trying to drag her towards the truck.
"Hurry! Get in the truck!"
But Connie had seen the helicopters too.
A surge of hope instantly welled up in her heart.
Police helicopters appearing here and now were surely coming to rescue her!
Fueled by hope, the strength she mustered was even greater than before. The man found he couldn't budge her at all.
"Forget her!" The other two men were already in the truck, yelling at him through the window.
"What are you waiting for? Get in the truck now, or we're leaving without you!"
Watching the helicopters draw closer and closer, the man's face turned livid. He kicked Connie viciously.
The kick was delivered with great force.
Connie fell heavily to the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
The man gave up on taking her, turned, and
sprinted for the truck.
The truck sped away quickly.
One of the helicopters began to descend, while the others continued pursuing the fleeing vehicle.
No matter how fast the truck was, it couldn't outrun a helicopter at full speed. They would soon be caught.
Connie's vision was beginning to blur, but she struggled to hold on, refusing to pass out.
The descending helicopter landed. Connie saw a familiar figure leap from it and run towards her.
Finally seeing the person she longed for, Connie's heart relaxed completely. A wave of intense dizziness followed, and she could no longer hold on, finally passing out.
"Connie!"
Alberto Mendoza ran to Connie's side and gathered her tightly into his arms.
Looking at Connie's tightly closed eyes and swollen, bruised cheeks, Alberto's heart ached as if it were bleeding. At the same time, he was seized with terror, fearing that Connie might..
Someone patted his shoulder from behind.
Alberto looked back.
It was Harrison Thomson.
"Calm down first," Harrison said. "Let the doctors check Connie's condition first."
There were doctors standing behind Harrison.
When preparing to pursue, Harrison, just in case, had two doctors bring medical kits and accompany them. These two doctors had been on the same helicopter with them.
"Alright..."
Alberto forced the word out.
But he still held Connie tightly, unwilling to let
go.
Harrison understood.
He knew exactly how Alberto felt right now.
The person you love, battered and bruised, lying in your arms...
The two doctors immediately stepped forward and began examining Connie.
After a while, one said, "Mr. Thomson, Mr.
Mendoza, this lady has fainted. She likely suffered a severe fright, and her emotions were very volatile."
Alberto held Connie even tighter.
It was all his fault. He failed to protect her...
How terrified she must have been.
"Most of her injuries are superficial, nothing serious," the other doctor said. "But her leg might be fractured. We'll need a proper hospital examination to be sure."
"Alright, take her to the hospital right away!"
Alberto carried Connie onto the helicopter.
The others boarded as well.
The helicopter quickly took off, turned around, and headed towards the city.
Meanwhile, the fleeing men were still trying to escape in their truck.
But police snipers from a helicopter shot out their tires.
Unable to drive, the men jumped out and fled in panic.
Of course, they couldn't escape and were soon apprehended.
These three men had long been involved in illegal activities and were already on Yewhainan police's wanted list.
