Chapter 344: It Was You
His kiss was filled with burning love, igniting every inch of her.
Adeline was momentarily stunned before she couldn't help but respond, her lips softening against his.
And her response nearly drove Harrison wild.
They didn't know how long they kissed. It was only when Adeline felt like she could hardly breathe anymore that Harrison finally pulled back.
But their lips were still so close, their breaths mingling, thick with the tension of unspoken feelings.
Perhaps it was the excitement, or maybe the joy—his eyes had a faint red hue at the corners.
"Why didn't you admit it was you that night?" he asked, panting slightly, his voice filled with a touch of grievance. "Don't you love me?"
Adeline felt like she was being driven crazy by him.
How could he still say that she didn't love
him? How could he?
In a flash, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back fiercely.
She didn't want to be angry with him anymore.
Though, to be honest, she hadn't been that angry in the first place.
And deep down, she knew she wasn't completely blameless either.
He said he didn't want her to leave his side, but hadn't she felt the same? She couldn't bear the thought of him leaving. She wanted to be with him for the rest of her life.
Ten minutes later, Adeline and Harrison were sitting on the couch in her room.
The couch was soft, and so was her heart.
Harrison couldn't resist holding her hand, his voice bright with joy as he asked, "That woman that night was you, right?"
"Yes, it was me," Adeline answered patiently, her tone almost playful.
Harrison had asked her that question several times already.
And she had already admitted it was her.
But he couldn't stop asking because he was just so happy.
The woman that night was Adeline.
It was his first time, and it was with her.
He had never been with anyone else like that.
That was incredible, absolutely incredible.
For the rest of his life, he would only be with Adeline in that way.
Adeline saw the silly grin on his face and couldn't help but laugh too.
"You're such a fool," she teased, tapping his forehead with her finger.
Harrison grabbed her finger and smiled, "I'm not the fool; you are. Why didn't you tell me earlier?" If he had known it was her that night, they would have been together long ago.
Now that he thought about it, he found it ridiculous to ask Adeline to find out who the
woman was.
"How could I tell you?" Adeline sighed, "I was your chief secretary back then. If you'd found out I'd been in your bed, you might have fired me on the spot. You know what my situation was back then-I couldn't afford to lose my job."
"I would never fire you," Harrison said quickly.
"You're different to me."
"But I didn't know that," Adeline replied.
"You didn't show me that."
Harrison paused, realizing she had a point.
Back then, he had always been cold and distant with her.
He had valued her, but it was always on a professional level.
It made sense that she wouldn't dare risk her career.
"I just feel a bit regretful," Harrison said with a small sigh.
"There's nothing to regret," Adeline said firmly.
"It's not too late now, and we still have the future ahead of us."
"We still have the future."
When he heard those words, Harrison's heart surged with emotion. He leaned down to kiss her again.
Adeline quickly covered his mouth with her hand.
They a just kissed for so long.
She could still feel the tingle in her lips from it.
She couldn't take any more for now.
Harrison looked a little displeased and took her hand away. "You're my girlfriend now. I just want to kiss you."
Adeline's ears turned red. She almost wanted to argue, "How am I suddenly your girlfriend?"
But after a moment's thought, she
decided against it because it seemed like she was really his girlfriend now.
She couldn't keep being stubborn. And remembering the fear she'd felt earlier when Harrison had pretended to leave, she would never want to experience it again.
"Adeline..." Harrison continued to coax her.
Adeline, worn down by his persistence, finally leaned in and lightly kissed his lips.
"That's not enough," Harrison said, his voice tinged with desire.
"You're greedy," Adeline laughed. "I still haven't asked you. How dare you ask me if I was the woman that night? What if it wasn't me? Wouldn't that be so awkward?"
"It wouldn't," Harrison said confidently.
"Because I already knew it was you."
"Why?" Adeline asked, curiosity piqued.
Because just now, when they had been so close, Harrison had suddenly remembered that night.
Whenever he thought back to it before, the images in his mind had always been vague.
But now, the memories were coming into sharp focus.
He saw Adeline's flushed cheeks, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears as she struggled beneath his intensity.
He didn't understand why he couldn't remember it before, but now, everything had become so clear.
Maybe it was because they were so close just now. Maybe it was the intense, lingering tension in the air. Or maybe it was just because his love for her was overwhelming...
Sometimes, these things were impossible to explain.
Harrison didn't tell her about the memory that had surfaced in his mind. Instead, he said, "Kyson came to see me suddenly."
"Kyson?" Adeline tensed, her eyes narrowing Of course, she remembered Kyson.
It was Kyson who had sent her a message, telling her to buy a set.
The next day, Kyson had disappeared.
For the past few days, Adeline had been trying to track her down.
But they hadn't been able to find her.
And now, Kyson had appeared before Harrison.
"Yes, she told me about that night," Harrison said.
"Before I came to Yewhaina, I already had Georgia keeping an eye on her. The mastermind behind all this is still out there."
"When we go back to the country, I'll make sure to ask her-who's been pulling her strings, and why they're trying to manipulate us like this?"
"Alright, don't get angry. It's not worth it,"
Harrison comforted her.
Adeline didn't want to focus on unpleasant thoughts right now, so she pushed thoughts of Kyson out of her mind.
She leaned her head on Harrison's chest and said, "I'm sorry."
"What?" Harrison didn't expect her to say that suddenly. "Why are you apologizing?"
"I shouldn't have been so harsh with you that day," Adeline admitted. "It was my fault."
Even though she had been angry for his sake, she shouldn't have been so sharp with him. She should have spoken to him calmly.
But life wasn't a rehearsal, and it was impossible to always say the perfect thing.
"It's not your fault," Harrison said, hugging her tighter. "I was the one who was impulsive and didn't understand your feelings."
"No, it's my fault. I didn't think about how you might feel."
"It's not your fault. It's mine."
"No, it's my fault."
They both started laughing at the same time, their shared laughter filling the room.

ReplyDeleteOooh what happens to our lover man PLAY BOY who goes to the Night Club and lays with the ladies there. And also trying to be fooling himself before Adeline while having a second thought like Adeline's adopted father. Just after the wealth of the Mendoza's, too late for him anyway. Adeline can never be like her mother's sister who loved without thinking before she met her death.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Harrison has already proven to him that there's no vacancy available around Adeline anymore. Too beautiful a novel my dear.💕💕✌️✌️💪💪🎉🎉
