One night stand with my president(chapter 651)

Chapter 651: Connie Is in Trouble

Gracie Mendoza furrowed her brows and let out a bitter smile.

"I thought I was finally going to have a grandson... Ah, well, on second thought, maybe this is for the better. This matter was always a thorn between Alberto and Connie. Now that the misunderstanding is cleared up, they can truly be okay."

"That's right. Besides, Alberto and Connie are getting married soon. When that time comes, you'll have plenty of chances to hold a grandchild," Adeline Hensley said with a laugh.

"I won't pressure them anymore," Gracie said.

"You young people should make your own decisions. It would be too selfish of me to force Connie to have a child before she's ready, just to satisfy my own wish of being a grandmother."

"Mom," Adeline hugged her, laughing. "I knew you were the most open-minded mom."

"Enough of your sweet talk," Gracie chided playfully. "Speaking of which, I'm not pressuring about grandchildren, but shouldn't you and Harrison start planning your wedding?"

Adeline's face fell instantly. "Oh, we have it under control."

How did the conversation circle back to her again?

"Hmph, you better," Gracie said, her tone filled with affection.

"Oh, by the way, let's not tell Dad about this for now," Adeline suggested. "He hasn't fully recovered from his injuries yet. If we tell him and it upsets him, what then?"

"You're underestimating your father too much," Gracie pouted.

However, concerning Isaac Mendoza's health, it was better to be cautious. They could wait until he was fully recovered and discharged from the hospital before telling him.

"And then, there's Pharrell..."

Mentioning Pharrell, Gracie's eyes darkened.

Now that the truth was out, Monica definitely couldn't stay with the Mendoza family anymore.

Not only that, she would have to pay the price for deceiving them. Jail time was unavoidable.

But what about Pharrell? What should they do with him?

He was still so young and sick. The thought of simply casting him out and abandoning him was something Gracie couldn't bear.

After all, she had genuinely cared for the child.

After a moment of thought, Gracie said, "I still want Pharrell to stay with the Mendoza family."

At the very least, they needed to ensure his illness was treated. It wasn't as if the Mendoza family lacked the money; this expense meant nothing.

Gracie had already invested love and care into Pharrell; she didn't want to give up halfway.

Seeing Pharrell healthy would give her peace of mind.

Adeline smiled and said, "Mom, I knew you'd think that way. Actually, I agree with you on this."

"Mother and daughter, always on the same

wavelength," Gracie pinched Adeline's nose gently.

"But we still need to get the opinions of the rest of the family."

"Don't worry, I know."

However, they both understood that the rest of the family likely wouldn't object either. No one could stand by and watch a child die from illness.

Even if they handed Pharrell over to other relatives, without the Mendoza family's wealth and resources, treating his illness would be extremely difficult.

"That poor child, Pharrell. His fate has been so hard," Gracie said, her heart aching. "His father was gone before he was even born...

Since Pharrell wasn't Alberto's child, his biological father could only have been Monica's boyfriend.

Just think, if Monica's boyfriend hadn't passed away, if the people from the Livingston family hadn't approached her and Pharrell, if Pharrell hadn't gotten sick... then maybe the three of them could have been a happy family.

But unfortunately...

And the deceived Mendoza family had suffered greatly too. They had invested so much effort and, most importantly, poured so much love into Pharrell. Yet, he wasn't even a Mendoza by blood.

Moreover, Alberto and Connie, a perfectly good couple, were almost torn apart. That period must have been agonizing for both of them.

And Monica, having schemed her way into the Mendoza family, was undoubtedly planning to harm them on behalf of others.

She just hadn't had the chance to act yet.

The true culprits behind all this were the people from the Livingston family.

The sudden ringing of a phone broke the silence between the mother and daughter.

It was Adeline's phone.

"It's Alberto," Adeline said to Gracie before answering the call.

"Hello? Alberto...”

She had barely uttered the name when the person on the other end spoke rapidly.

Adeline's face instantly paled upon hearing the news.

"What? How could this happen!"

Seeing this, Gracie knew something terrible had occurred, her heart beginning to pound wildly.

"I understand."

After hanging up, Adeline immediately called Harrison Thomson, while explaining to Gracie in between.

"Connie is in trouble."

"How could this be! Didn't she have bodyguards with her at all times?" Gracie swayed, and Adeline quickly steadied her.

Since the series of incidents that had plagued the Mendoza family recently, everyone had bodyguards accompanying them whenever they went out-some secretly, others openly. Even after Connie left the Mendoza family, Alberto and Adeline had continued to arrange for her and Adeline had continued to arrange for her protection.

Yet, despite all precautions, something had still happened.

Just as Adeline was about to explain further to Gracie, Harrison answered the call. He had left early that day for business.

After telling him about Connie's kidnapping,

Harrison immediately said, “It's alright, don't

panic. I'll have people start searching right away."

"It's the Livingston family," Adeline said grimly. "It must be them!"

"I know," Harrison replied. "I'll figure something out."

His voice calmed Adeline's racing heart somewhat.

After they finished speaking and hung up, Adeline explained the situation to Gracie.

Connie indeed always had bodyguards protecting her.

But today, while Connie was out, she happened to pass by a plaza. Some event was taking place there, drawing a large crowd. Connie had only intended to stand at the edge and watch briefly.

Suddenly, a group of people appeared from somewhere, causing a commotion and pushing her into the thick of the crowd. The bodyguards tried to follow, but more and more people swarmed in, eventually completely separating them from Connie. By the time they managed to push their way through, Connie was nowhere to be found.

"Who took Connie, and what do they want?"

Gracie asked anxiously. "Is it to use her as leverage against our family? Or..."

"That's certainly part of it," Adeline said.

"But, more importantly, it's to pave the way for Monica."

Hearing this, Gracie understood immediately.

Alberto's heart now belonged entirely to Connie, leaving no opening for Monica to seduce him.

Only by making Connie disappear could Monica find an opportunity.

"This is absolutely outrageous.

Gracie's eyes. "We've been ignoring them all this time, and they truly think the Mendoza family is easy to bully!"

With that, Gracie turned and strode away.

"Mom, where are you going?" Adeline quickly asked.
