One night stand with my president(chapter 659)

Chapter 659: I'm Afraid Your Heart Will Ache

He didn't finish his sentence, but Adeline Hensley understood exactly what he meant.

Her gaze softened. She nuzzled her head against his chin and said, "Alright, I know.

It's my fault. I really didn't think about that at the time... because there are just so many things to handle after returning to the country, so I didn't let my mind wander to marriage."

Harrison Thomson sighed softly.

Adeline continued, "Besides, in my view, whether we get married or not, we're going to be together for a lifetime. Harrison, marriage for us is the icing on the cake, not a shackle to bind us down."

Her words warmed the depths of Harrison's heart.

He said, "I know, Adeline, I know all of that. But I can't help but wonder what our photo on the marriage certificate will look like, what our wedding day will be like, how beautiful you'll look walking toward me in a wedding dress, and what we'll be like after we're married... Adeline, because it's.you, I have expectations for marriage."

Adeline's eyes grew slightly red. The emotion welling up inside her was a mix of being touched and something else; in any case, she felt like crying.

"But if you don't want to get married right now, that's okay," Harrison said. "Adeline, I do have expectations for marriage, but my expectation is for a marriage that makes both of us happy. If you wrong yourself just to satisfy my wish, then such a marriage would be meaningless."

"Oh, come on, I know." Adeline rubbed her face vigorously against his chest. "I was wrong before for not thinking about it. It's not that I don't want to marry you. Once everything is resolved, we are definitely getting married."

Harrison shook his head and said, "I was in the wrong. I should have just told you directly instead of sulking on my own."

"Hmph, exactly!" Adeline suddenly became righteous. "We agreed before that if something comes up, we should tell each other immediately. Yet you secretly got angry today! You did something wrong, so you should be punished."

"Can I skip the punishment?"

"No."

"Then I ask that Lady Adeline punish me lightly," Harrison smiled dotingly.

"Otherwise, I'm afraid... Adeline thought he was going to say, "I'm afraid I won't be able to take it."

Instead, he said, "I'm afraid your heart will ache for me."

Adeline paused for a moment, then said, laughing and crying at the same time, "Harrison Thomson! How is your skin so thick?"

"Touch it and see. Is it thick?" Harrison grabbed her hand and pressed it against his cheek.

Adeline pinched him hard, then watched with satisfaction as Harrison frowned in pain.

"Yep, extremely thick!"

Just as the two were being affectionate,

Harrison's phone rang.

It was a call from the Yewhaina police.

After the conversation, Harrison hung up and said to Adeline, "The police interrogated those three men. They confessed. Someone kidnapped Connie and handed her over to one of them while she was unconscious, paying him a large sum of money to take her away. This man immediately took Connie to meet up with his two accomplices, planning to transport her to Tagria' to sell her."

Adeline asked with a dark expression, "Are these three men repeat offenders?"

Harrison nodded. "The three of them are human traffickers who have been on the police wanted list for a long time. Their main targets are young women. According to their confession, they usually sell their victims to a... red-light district in Tagria."

"In other words, they were planning to sell Connie there this time too?" Adeline clenched her fists. "And in the past, they've harmed many innocent girls?"

Harrison nodded, his face equally grim.

"Animals!" Adeline cursed hatefully. "The person who handed Connie over to them is an animal too! I think... whoever kidnapped Connie must have known their identities and known that they would try to sell her to Tagria. That's why they handed her over to them! If Connie had really been sold to Tagria, then..."

Adeline didn't dare to think any further.

"We absolutely cannot let them off."

"Don't worry." Harrison patted her head to comfort her. "Based on the criminal's description, the police have already identified the target. It's a subordinate of Powell, the eldest son of the Mason family."

"So fast?"

"Yes." Harrison smiled. "After all, in addition to the criminal's confession, there were the leads provided by Alberto and me."

They had told the police that the Mendoza family and the Mason family had always been rivals, and that there had been conflicts recently.

Since it was Alberto Mendoza's girlfriend who was kidnapped, the police naturally considered the motive of the Mason family.

With the criminal's confession, the police focused their investigation and quickly locked onto the suspect.

Now, they were already on their way to arrest him.

Although the current suspect was just a subordinate of Powell Mason, the eldest son, once they had him, it was only a matter of time before they followed the vine to the melon and dragged out the more important figures.

Adeline finally felt a bit more at ease.

"Rest assured," Harrison said. "We won't let anyone off the hook who deserves to be caught."

Adeline looked at him and suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to kiss him. She couldn't resist wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her lips to his.

Before dawn, there was a sudden knock on Adeline's door. Outside, a servant's voice sounded panic-stricken.

"Miss Adeline, it's bad! Monica and Pharrell are missing!"

Adeline was instantly jolted awake from her dream.

She immediately went to the nursery. Sure enough, the crib was empty, and Monica was nowhere to be seen.

A nanny stood to the side, looking nervous.

When Adeline looked over, the nanny's eyes darted away, not daring to meet Adeline's gaze at all.

"What happened?" Adeline asked.

Monica had been confined to the nursery, with two servants guarding the door.

Several nannies still took turns coming in to care for Pharrell.

This nanny was the one responsible for looking after Pharrell tonight.

Hearing Adeline question her, the nanny trembled before saying, "I... I came to take care of Pharrell tonight. Then, Monica told me that Pharrell's formula had run out and asked me to go get some. When I came back with it, there was no one in the room. Monica and Pharrell were both gone, and the window was open..." Adeline turned to look.

One of the windows in the nursery was indeed open.

Pharrell's nursery was on the second floor, which wasn't particularly high.

It wasn't impossible for Monica to jump out the window holding Pharrell.

"Miss Adeline!"

Another servant ran in.

Panting, she said, "We've just searched the entire house carefully. We couldn't find Monica or Pharrell."

"What did the security guards at the gate say?" Adeline asked.

"They said no one left the property," the servant replied.
