One night stand with my president(chapter 653)

Chapter 653: They re Going to Sell Her

Honestly, seeing a mother weep and plead so desperately, it would be false to say Adeline Hensley felt no stir of emotion at all.

But she had already seen through Monica for the woman she was.

Her words were a mix of truth and lies.

Could Monica truly say she harbored no selfish or vile thoughts of her own?

If she didn't, she wouldn't have complained to that man, saying Connie's presence prevented her from getting close to and seducing Alberto Mendoza.

To achieve her own goals, she could push someone who had no prior grievance with her to the brink.

Perhaps, from Monica's perspective, she had no other choice.

But she had also undeniably hurt others.

Adeline was Connie's family, so she naturally had to consider things from Connie's perspective.

"Adeline, it was all caused by those people! I

know them, they're from the Livingston family!" Monica said urgently.

Adeline sneered, "We didn't need you to tell us that."

When they investigated the Livingston family before, they had already found connections between its members and Monica. Those people were indeed under the command of Fletcher Livingston, the eldest son. This also matched the clues Wendy Hartman had provided.

"Adeline, you can't let the mastermind behind this go!" Monica added.

"The mastermind is naturally the one we can least afford to let go," Adeline said. "But you? Don't think you can wash your hands clean of this either."

She had told such a massive lie to the Mendoza family and profited from it.

According to Yewhainan law, that was enough to constitute fraud. Of course, she could claim coercion, which might reduce her sentence. But the kidnapping of Connie also involved her. That part, she had no defense for.

"Adeline, please don't..." Monica's face turned deathly pale. "If I... if I can't be by Pharrell's side, what will happen to him? And... I have other family members in their hands too..."

Adeline ignored her. She instructed a maid to keep an eye on Monica, then turned and left.

Innocent people, if they could be saved, they naturally would. And the police certainly wouldn't stand idly by either. But she no longer wished to exchange another word with Monica.

For now, allowing Monica to remain with Pharrell, to spend a little more time with her son, was already Adeline showing her mercy.

Connie Miller groggily regained some consciousness.

She felt her head was covered by something, and her mouth was gagged. She tried to move and found her hands and feet were bound tightly.

In an instant, she understood: she had been kidnapped.

Earlier, she had been jostled into a dense crowd in the plaza, and then somehow, she suddenly lost consciousness. Now, waking up, she was in this state.

She could sense she was in a moving vehicle.

Who had kidnapped her? Where were they taking her?

Panic began to spread through her heart.

She silently repeated Alberto's name in her mind over and over.

She had gone out today to pick a birthday gift for Alberto. His birthday was coming up soon.

Before leaving, she was still thinking about what to buy him. She never expected to encounter this.

Alberto would definitely look for her once he realized she was missing. She believed that.

But in this situation, fear was inevitable.

Just as she was holding back tears, she felt the vehicle come to a stop. This frightened her even more.

What if, the next moment, a few menacing men appeared before her...

Fortunately, it seemed no one came for her just then. However, she did hear the voices of several men speaking outside.

They were speaking in the Yewhainan language; so she could understand them.

"This shipment, why is there only this one? She looks decent, but just one won't fetch much money, will it?"

Shipment? Sell? Were they going to sell her?

"Hmph, what do you know? When those people handed this woman over to me, they gave me a large sum of money too!"

"What's that about? Never heard of such a thing —giving you the goods and money?"

"You wouldn't understand. My guess is, this woman has some grudge with them, so they kidnapped her. When they handed her over, they specifically instructed: use whatever means necessary, make sure to send her far away, so she can never return to Yewhaina for the rest of her life."

"Haha, never thought we'd actually stumble upon such a good deal! Hey, the money? You're not thinking of keeping it all for yourself, are you? You've got to split it with us, right?"

"Don't worry, if I weren't planning to share, would I have even told you about this?"

"Hahaha..."

The men laughed heartily, but Connie's heart turned utterly cold.

The people who kidnapped her... had a grudge against her? Who could it be?

Right now, the most crucial thing was she had no idea where these men intended to sell her!

Just thinking about it made her entire body tremble.

She believed Alberto, and others, would do everything possible to rescue her.

But if they were too late, then she...

Just as she was already terrified beyond measure, she heard one of the men say, "Hey, since she's gonna be played with sooner or later anyway, why don't we brothers have some fun first? I caught a glimpse earlier; this woman has a nice figure."

Connie's heart instantly leaped into her throat.

She began to struggle, but the ropes on her wrists and ankles were tied too tightly; she couldn't break free.

She heard the men outside snicker lewdly. One said, "Better not. Don't hurt her, or she won't fetch a good price later."

"What's there to be afraid of? Just be careful. It's been so long since l've had any action! Don't worry, with goods of her caliber, once we get there, those people will be fighting over her!"

Tears streamed uncontrollably down Connie's face.

How dare they! Trafficking people was illegal!

And they wanted to... to do that to her...

If they really tried to do something to her here, in this place, she would have no one to call

Chapter 653: They're Going to Sell Her

for help, no one to hear her cries!

She could only pray they would drop the idea. At the very least, give her some breathing room.

Once they reached their destination and got out of the vehicle, maybe she could find a chance to escape...

However, the men's next words made her heart sink.

"Hah... You might have a point there."

"We brothers have been laying low for a while, no business, having such a tough time. We deserve a little enjoyment!"

"Who goes first?"

"Me, of course! I brought you this deal!"

"Fine, you go first! But make it quick!"

The terror in Connie's heart reached its peak. A metallic taste even rose in her throat. She desperately tried to scoot backward, to hide herself in a corner, but there was only so much space in the vehicle.

Where could she possibly hide?

Clatter! The sound of the cargo door being pulled open reached her ears.
