Chapter 658: Stop Fussing, Come, Here for a Hug
Adeline stormed out of the hospital, puffed up with anger. She knew Harrison was following her the entire time, but she didn't turn back once.
When she reached the hospital entrance, just as she was about to get into the Mendoza family's car, she suddenly felt someone grab her wrist.
She didn't need to look back to know who it was.
Without thinking, she tried to shake him off.
But she didn't succeed.
Adeline turned her head angrily and asked,
"What do you want?"
"Get in my car," Harrison said. "We're going back together."
"No!" Adeline refused decisively. "I don't want to ride in your car."
"Be good," Harrison said softly.
His voice was already pleasant to listen to, but now, tinged with a coaxing tone, it was even more magnetic.
Adeline felt her resolve wavering.
Taking advantage of her momentary daze,
Harrison guided her into his car.
The driver in the front seat was sharp; seeing that the situation was a bit tense, he immediately raised the partition and focused entirely on driving.
Although Adeline was now sitting in Harrison's car, she still didn't want to talk to him. She turned her head toward the window, preferring to watch the passing streetlights rather than look at him.
Harrison rubbed the space between his eyebrows, feeling a headache coming on.
This situation didn't seem quite right.
He was the one who was supposed to be angry, so shouldn't Adeline be the one coaxing him? But from the looks of it, Adeline seemed even angrier than he was.
Even the back of her head seemed to be giving him the silent treatment.
Harrison was still a little annoyed, but he also found it amusing. He reached out to hold her hand and said, "You're being too unreasonable."
Adeline was currently like a stick of dynamite-one spark and she would explode.
"How am I being unreasonable?"
Adeline turned around and glared at him fiercely.
"Everything was fine, and then suddenly you got angry. When I asked you why, you wouldn't say, and now you're calling me unreasonable!"
She tried to shake Harrison's hand off again, but he held on tight and refused to let go. Anxious, Adeline snapped, "You're hurting me!"
In reality, Harrison was very careful.
Although he wouldn't let go of her hand, he controlled his strength so he wouldn't hurt her.
So, even though Adeline said that, he still didn't let go. Instead, he used his other arm to pull her into his embrace, lowered his head, and kissed her lips hard.
Adeline hadn't expected Harrison to be such a rogue.
Harrison refused to release her. He kissed her until she was on the verge of tears before he finally let her go.
Adeline lay in his arms, breathing rapidly.
She wanted to bite him, but she couldn't muster the strength. That scorching kiss just now had left her body almost limp.
"Harrison..."
"Hmm?"
"You are such a big jerk."
The kiss had significantly improved Harrison's mood, so he was in the mindset to tease her.
"I'm a big jerk. So, what does that make the person who likes the big jerk? A little jerk?"
"Who likes you?" Adeline retorted. "I don't."
Harrison's gaze darkened.
Even though he knew she was just saying it out of spite, hearing those words from her mouth was still particularly jarring.
He lowered his head again, sealing the little mouth that was so good at provoking him.
mouth that was so good at provoking him.
"Mmph..."
This kiss was fierce. Adeline felt as if she were being devoured by him.
Not only that, but his hands began to wander restlessly under her clothes. The scorching heat of his palms made her tremble all over, stripping away her will to resist.
When they arrived at the Mendoza residence, the driver parked the car and didn't dare make a sound, waiting quietly to the side.
Harrison carried Adeline out of the car.
Wrapped in his jacket, Adeline buried her face in his chest, looking weak and listless.
Once they were back in the bedroom and Harrison placed her on the bed, Adeline immediately rolled away, tumbling to the far side of the bed to glare at him ferociously.
"I thought you didn't have any energy left," Harrison laughed.
"I didn't have any energy," Adeline said resentfully. "Who asked you to bully me in the car?"
Harrison's eyes were filled with mirth as he said, "I don't think I did anything much, did I?"
"You call that not doing anything!" Adeline's cheeks flushed slightly as she spoke indignantly.
"You, you... In the end, they just hadn't taken the final step, that was all!
This smelly man actually dared to say he didn't do anything.
"Anyway, I'm going to sleep." Adeline turned her face away, refusing to look at him. "Get out. Go back to your own room to sleep."
Harrison sighed helplessly. He opened his arms to her and said, "Stop fussing. Come here for a hug."
"No!"
"Really no?".
Adeline hesitated for a moment, but eventually, looking aggrieved, she scooted over and burrowed into Harrison's arms.
"I hate you," she mumbled.
"You're not allowed to hate me," Harrison said, looking down at the top of her head. "You have to like me."
"I don't like you."
Although she said that, she hugged Harrison even tighter.
"You still dare to say that?" Harrison narrowed his eyes dangerously. "Did you forget what happened in the car just now..."
"Harrison! You're not allowed to..."
Seeing that the little woman in his arms was really getting anxious, Harrison quickly soothed her. "Okay, okay, I won't bully you anymore."
Adeline settled down. After holding him quietly for a while, she suddenly looked up and kissed Harrison on the lips.
Seeing the surprise in Harrison's eyes, she
coughed twice and said, "I kissed you, so can you tell me now why you were angry earlier?" So she was still thinking about that.
Harrison's lips moved slightly.
He still didn't really want to say it, but seeing Adeline looking at him with such eager eyes, he sighed and said, "Speaking of returning to the country... you considered so many things to do after we go back, so why didn't you consider you and me?"
"Huh?" Adeline blinked. "You and me? Um... heart to heart?"
Harrison was so annoyed he flicked her forehead lightly.
"Ouch! Okay, okay, I'll stop joking," Adeline said pitifully. "Well, aren't we always together happily? It's not like I ever thought about breaking up with you."
At this point, her face suddenly turned serious.
"Why? Do you want to break up with me? Oh... no wonder your attitude toward me was so terrible tonight!"
Harrison was truly laughed into anger by her.
"You've even learned how to gaslight me now."
"Then speak clearly."
Harrison said helplessly, "Marriage. I was talking about marriage.”
Adeline froze.
So that was what he was thinking about...
"Last time I asked you if we could get married after returning to the country, you didn't give me a direct answer," Harrison said. "This time, when talking about going back, you thought of everything else, but the one thing you didn't think of was our wedding."
He took a deep breath and said, "Adeline, I don't want to pressure you. If you don't want to get married right now, I will respect your wishes. But we are going to be together for a lifetime. Since you didn't even mention it, it's inevitable that I felt a little..."
