Chapter 648, She Is The Most Special One
Lily was stunned for a moment, then realized her two younger sisters must have told their father when they went to his room that morning.
They were young and didn't see any reason to keep it a secret, so it wasn't strange that they mentioned it while chatting with him.
However, Lily felt a twinge of guilt in front of her father.
Because she did harbor those kinds of feelings for Russell Hunter.
Last time, her father had warned her that she and Russell were from different worlds, worried that she might develop feelings for him.
Back then, she had vowed solemnly that she wouldn't.
But now that she was going to deliver food to Russell, would her father see through her thoughts?
Lily didn't want her father to worry about her at a time like this.
Feigning calmness, she said, "Dad, Mr.
Hunter's stomach trouble flared up. His subordinate called me last night asking for help. He's our benefactor; how could I not go? When I got there, they told me Mr. Hunter often doesn't eat properly and has terrible lifestyle habits, which is why he has stomach problems. The doctor said if he doesn't take care of his stomach, it's going to get really bad. I thought, since I can't help with anything else, I can at least cook some food and make sure he eats it, right? So I plan to bring him meals every day. It's a way to repay his kindness."
She felt her explanation was logical and well-grounded. Since she said it without blushing or skipping a beat, she was sure her father wouldn't think too much of it.
In fact, Mr. Sparrow hadn't thought much of it initially. He had even intended to tell Lily to prepare the meals with care, considering the man had helped them so much.
But Lily's long, rambling explanation made him suspicious.
He had only asked a simple question, so why did she rattle off such a long defense?
"Lily, tell me the truth. What do you really think of Mr. Hunter?" Mr. Sparrow asked with a serious expression.
Lily's heart started pounding wildly.
"I... what could I think? I treat him as a benefactor, of course."
"Tell me the truth. Do you like him?"
"Dad!" Lily almost jumped up. "What are you talking about? I... I told you, I don't have those kinds of feelings for him at all. Don't talk nonsense..."
However, the more she reacted this way, the more suspicious it seemed.
Mr. Sparrow looked at her, his eyes filled with uncontrollable worry.
"You..."
He coughed twice, then said sadly, "With you like this, how can I close my eyes in peace?"
Lily's eyes reddened. She stepped forward to pat her father's back and said, "Dad, don't overthink it. I... Sigh, even if I really did like Mr. Hunter, I know my place. I absolutely won't let something like this ruin my life. Really!"
Mr. Sparrow sighed and nodded.
Regardless, he couldn't stop Lily from delivering food to Russell. After all, Russell was their benefactor.
Now that their benefactor was sick, if they did nothing when they could help, what would that say about them?
After chatting with her father, Lily took the lunch box and headed to the Hunter Group.
She hadn't eaten lunch herself yet, but she couldn't worry about that right now.
When she arrived at the Hunter Group and saw the receptionist, Lily was trying to figure out what to say. But the moment the receptionist saw her, she smiled and asked, "Are you Miss Sparrow?"
Lily was taken aback and nodded.
"Mr. Hunter has already left instructions, You can No straight up." the receptionist said with great respect. "Please follow me."
The receptionist led her to the elevators, pressed the button for her, and said, "Mr. Hunter's office is on the top floor. You can go right in."
"Thank you," Lily said hurriedly,
"You're welcome." the receptionist smiled
Ingratiatingly, This was a guest Mr. Hunter had personally ordered to be treated well; she wouldn't dare be negligent. Besides, she was a young girl carrying a lunch box... Was she here to deliver food to Mr.
Hunter?
This had never happened before. Could this girl be their future boss's wife?
But she had heard gossip before that Mr. Hunter liked Secretary Hensley from the Thomson Group.
She even heard that Mr. Hunter had gotten into a fight with Mr. Thomson over Miss Hensley.
Of course, she didn't know if that was true or
false.
Could it be that now, since Miss Hensley was with Mr. Thomson, Mr. Hunter had completely given up?
It made sense.
Miss Hensley already had a boyfriend. No matter how much Mr. Hunter liked her, he couldn't keep pestering her forever, right?
The girl just now didn't look particularly outstanding.
However, if Mr. Hunter liked her, then in his, eyes, she must be the most special one...
Lily took the elevator to the top floor.
Soon, someone came over to guide her to the door of Russell's office.
After leading her there, the person left, so Lily had to raise her hand and knock on the door herself.
"Come in."
It was Russell's voice.
Lily felt an inexplicable sense of relief.
Perhaps because it was her first time at Russell's company, everything felt a bit surreal.
Before this, she never imagined she would be here.
She pushed the door open and saw Russell sitting at his desk, staring at his computer screen with a serious expression.
At this moment, he radiated the commanding aura of a person in power.
Looking at him, Lily suddenly felt a little sad.
This version of him really belonged to a different world than hers.
If not for that accidental meeting at the hospital, and if he hadn't been kind enough to help her, their lives probably never would have intersected.
"You're here."
Russell's, voice brought Lily back to reality.
When she looked again, he had already returned the gentle demeanor he always showed her.
"Ah, yes... I brought you lunch."
Russell stood up, took the lunch box from her hand, and said, "Sit down."
He placed the lunch box on the coffee table in front of the sofa but didn't rush to eat. Instead, he asked his secretary to bring in a glass of juice, and then asked her, "Have you eaten?"
Lily lied, "I've already eaten."
Russell didn't doubt her.
After the secretary brought the juice and left, Russell placed the glass in front of Lily before starting to open the lunch box.
As soon as he opened it, the aroma of the food wafted out.
Then, Lily's stomach let out a traitorous growl. Russell looked at her quietly.
Lily blushed. "I, I..."
She wanted to find an excuse to cover up the sound of her stomach, but she didn't know what excuse to give because it was obviously the sound of hunger.
"So you actually haven't eaten at all?" Russelli asked with a frown.
Lily coughed lightly twice and said, "It's fine. I'll just eat when I get home later."
Russell almost laughed out of anger. "You tell me to eat on time, but you don't do it yourself? Do you want to end up with stomach problems just as mine are getting better?"
