Chapter 630: I Prefer to Communicate with People
Hanna Carter's words were earnest and sincere.
Adeline Hensley thought for a moment and didn't refuse.
She wasn't busy anyway.
Might as well hear what this Miss Carter wanted to see her about.
"Alright."
Seeing Adeline agree, Hanna let out a small sigh of relief.
No matter what, having a chance to communicate with Adeline was a successful first step.
And from the looks of it, Adeline seemed quite reasonable.
There was indeed a coffee shop nearby. The two went in and casually found a seat.
The shop wasn't crowded, and most customers were buying to-go.
They ordered two coffees. After the server brought them over and left, Hanna finally spoke.
"Miss Hensley, I'm really sorry to bother you.
Actually, I came today to ask for your help."
Adeline smiled. "Go ahead."
"Earlier, when I was discussing the cooperation with Mr. Thomson, I accidentally said the wrong thing and made him very unhappy," Hanna said.
"Now Mr. Thomson wants to cancel the cooperation with us."
Adeline understood.
So Hanna had suddenly sought her out for this matter.
"Miss Hensley, once this cooperation is canceled, it won't be beneficial for either us or the Thomson Group," Hanna's eyes showed a hint of urgency. "I know Mr. Thomson values you greatly, so I wanted to ask you to help persuade Mr. Thomson not to cancel the cooperation. We've already discussed it on our side; if Mr. Thomson is willing to continue cooperating, we can concede an additional ten percent of the profits."
Adeline smiled. "Miss Carter, may I ask what exactly you said wrong?"
Canceling cooperation was no small matter.
Harrison Thomson wasn't an impulsive person either.
Based on Adeline's understanding of him, Hanna must have touched upon something he absolutely couldn't tolerate.
That's why he wanted to cancel the cooperation.
Hearing Adeline's question, a flicker of guilt passed through Hanna's eyes.
Adeline was Harrison Thomson's girlfriend.
If Adeline found out about the things she had said...
A scolding would be letting her off easy.
But now, since she was here asking for help, how could she not properly answer the other person's question? And she didn't dare lie.
If she lied now, even if she managed to fool Adeline temporarily, once Adeline talked to Harrison later, wouldn't everything come to
light?
At that time, Adeline might think she was a dishonest person and be even angrier.
Hanna weighed her options carefully.
In the end, she repeated what she had said to Harrison.
Of course, she slightly altered some of the wording.
"That day, I said to Mr. Thomson that we could have a more... detailed discussion and exchange regarding this cooperation. Of course, I also had the intention of getting to know Mr. Thomson better and becoming friends. It's hard not to admire someone as outstanding as Mr. Thomson. If I could become friends with him through the cooperation, it would be my honor." Hanna spoke while carefully watching Adeline's expression.
Adeline still wore a slight smile on her face, not seeming displeased.
Hanna continued, "But Mr. Thomson seemed to misunderstand my meaning... and he didn't give me a chance to explain. So, I could only come to ask for your help, Miss Hensley."
By now, Adeline understood everything perfectly.
Although Hanna had tried her best to make her own words sound less ambiguous just now, Adeline still caught on.
Hanna probably harbored intentions to seduce Harrison.
That's why she had angered him, leading him to directly want to cancel the cooperation with her company.
However, Adeline wasn't angry.
The thought of someone trying to seduce her boyfriend did make her uncomfortable.
But first, Harrison's immediate decision to cancel the cooperation clearly showed his attitude;
Second, the fact that Hanna had come begging before her meant that, in Hanna's mind, her career was more important than the man.
Presumably, she wouldn't dare have such
thoughts again.
But she still hadn't been completely honest...
She wasn't sincerely and genuinely asking for help.
Adeline took a sip of coffee before saying, "Miss Carter, I prefer to communicate with people who speak honestly."
Hanna's face stiffened slightly.
It seemed Adeline had already guessed.
But then again, Adeline was already being quite tolerant towards a woman who had tried to seduce her boyfriend.
"Alright, Miss Hensley," Hanna took a deep breath. "I admit, I did have some ambiguous thoughts towards Mr. Thomson. But I never intended to interfere with your relationship. For me, any man is just a potential candidate for a casual fling."
Adeline frowned slightly.
She set down her coffee cup and said, "Miss Carter, I can see that your career is most
important to you. You prefer casual relationships, and I respect that. But no matter how casual, they should be based on both parties being single. Otherwise, there's no difference from being a third party interfering in someone else's relationship."
Hanna nodded silently, her expression thoughtful.
After a moment, Hanna spoke again.
"I promise you, from now on, I will never have any inappropriate thoughts about Mr. Thomson again. Regarding our cooperation, apart from necessary contact, I will not meet with Mr. Thomson again.”
Of course, even if she wanted to, Harrison wouldn't see her.
"So, please, Miss Hensley, help me persuade Mr. Thomson."
By now, Hanna was speaking sincerely.
"I'll find an opportunity to mention it to him," Adeline said. "But I can't guarantee whether he'll listen or not."
Hanna's body visibly relaxed a bit.
She said gratefully, "Thank you, Miss Hensley."
She understood that regardless of the outcome, she needed to properly thank Adeline.
"You're welcome," Adeline smiled faintly.
"But I have a condition."
Actually, apart from those few statements she couldn't agree with, her impression of Hanna wasn't bad.
It was clear Hanna wasn't a malicious person.
"Please, tell me," Hanna said immediately.
"Ten percent profit isn't enough," Adeline said. needs to be at least twenty percent."
In truth, neither the Thomson Group nor Harrison cared much about this.
But only by making Hanna suffer a significant loss could she truly realize how out of line her actions were, and she wouldn't dare do such things again in the future.
Of course, all this was based on Hanna's
willingness to genuinely repent and apologize.
If Hanna said all the right things in front of her but, after she helped, continued to harbor inappropriate thoughts and do inappropriate things, then she would make Hanna's situation worse than it was now.
Hanna hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Alright, I agree."
After leaving the coffee shop, Adeline departed.
Hanna returned to her car and let out a long sigh.
"Miss Carter, how did it go?" her assistant, who was driving, asked nervously.
Hanna turned to look at the people and cars coming and going outside the window and said, "Getting to know Miss Hensley is something I consider myself fortunate for."
