One night stand with my president(chapter 647)

Chapter 647:He Really Likes This Photo

However, she felt that asking would be too presumptuous.

She knew far too little about Russell Hunter's past.

Everything she knew about his family was only because of the recent news reports.

That woman...

If she was a forbidden subject in his heart, would asking about her make him sad?

Russell actually kept his word. He took just one look at his phone and then put it down.

After putting it down, he smiled at Lily. "See? I didn't lie to you, did I?"

He spoke in a tone one might use to coax a child.

Lily thought he probably saw her as a kid.

Her chest felt tight, but there was nothing she could do about it.

"Go to sleep. Stop talking," she said.

"Okay."

Russell was surprisingly obedient this time.

He closed his eyes and fell asleep very quickly.

Lily sat by the bed, silently watching over him.

When Russell opened his eyes again, he smelled a faint, pleasant aroma.

As he sat up, he saw Lily walking out of the kitchenette carrying a bowl of porridge.

"You're awake?" Lily smiled. "I guessed you'd be waking up soon, so I started cooking the porridge."

While Russell was still asleep, his IV drip had finished, and a nurse had already come in to remove the needle.

Seeing Lily place the porridge on the table, he didn't need any prompting. He consciously threw off the covers, got out of bed, went to the bathroom to wash up, and then sat down at the table.

"Wait, there's more."

Lily returned to the kitchen and quickly brought out two plates of light side dishes.

"I was afraid you'd find plain porridge too bland, so l made two side dishes. Don't worry, they're non-irritating and very light," Lily explained.

Russell looked at the porridge and side dishes in front of him.

It was the most ordinary food imaginable, yet a strange feeling welled up in his heart.

"Thank you."

"Why are you saying thank you to me?" Lily laughed. "Compared to how you've helped me, this really isn't anything."

Russell shook his head. "That's not right."

"What's not right?" Lily asked.

Russell couldn't quite put it into words, so he just lowered his head and ate the porridge in silence.

It was just plain white porridge, nothing special in terms of flavor, yet he ate spoonful after spoonful.

When he was halfway through, he said to Lilv. "You should go home. You don't need to stay here guarding me."

"No." Lily shook her head immediately. "I have to watch you finish eating properly."

The portion she made wasn't large; it was just right for Russell in his current state.

If he couldn't even finish this, it meant he was refusing to eat properly again.

"But.." Russell frowned slightly.

"Don't worry." Lily knew what he was thinking.

"My dad isn't up yet."

Her two younger sisters should be awake, but she had left them a note telling them to cook some noodles for themselves.

Although they were young, they knew how to cook simple noodles.

Hearing her say this, Russell didn't argue further and continued eating.

He finished the entire bowl of porridge and ate most of the two side dishes.

Watching this, Lily breathed a sigh of relief.

As she put on her coat, she said, "I'll head out now. I'll bring you lunch later."

"I'll be discharged by noon," Russell said. "I should be heading to the office. My secretary will prepare lunch for me, so you don't need to worry."

"You're going to the office right after getting discharged?" Lily asked worriedly. "Your health..."

"I'm fine. I know my limits."

Lily wanted to persuade him further, but she felt it wasn't her place to say more. She simply said, "Then I'll bring it to your company."

She couldn't help with other things, but she was determined to ensure he ate well.

"You..." Russell smiled helplessly.

"It's settled then. I'm leaving now."

Lily walked out of the ward, and Russell watched her retreating figure for a long time.

He thought to himself that he really was indulging this young girl quite a bit.

But that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. He might well keep indulging her.

At least her concern for him was genuine.

Russell returned to the bedside and picked up his phone, intending to reply. to the messages he had missed the night before.

But when he saw the lock screen, he suddenly froze.

On the screen, Adeline Hensley was smiling faintly at him.

He really liked this photo.

Every time he recalled the day he and Adeline built the snowman, the corners of his mouth would uncontrollably lift.

If only time could have stopped at that moment.

But unfortunately...

That was all in the past.

And he would never have the chance to build a snowman with her again.

Russell looked at Adeline in the photo with deep longing.

He looked at it for a long time. Finally, he changed the lock screen to the default image.

No matter what, Adeline was now someone else's girlfriend.

He had let himself go for too long; he couldn't allow himself to keep making mistakes.

Although his choice of wallpaper was a private matter... using another man's girlfriend as his phone background was inappropriate.

If someone who knew Adeline saw it, they might misunderstand.

He didn't want to cause her any trouble.

He only hoped she could be happy now. That was enough.

When Lily returned home, she found her two sisters were indeed awake and sitting at the table eating noodles.

"Sis, you're back!"

"How is Mr. Hunter? Is his illness serious?"

Lily had written in the note that Russell was sick and she was going to the hospital to see him.

"He's fine now," Lily said. "But he needs to take good care of his health from now on. So, starting today, every time I cook, i'll make an extra portion for him and deliver it."

"Oh, oh! Sis, let us help you!"

"Yeah, Mr. Hunter has helped us so much. We want to do something too."

Lily smiled. "Sure. But you're still young, so I don't feel comfortable letting you deliver the food. How about you help me more when I'm cooking, and when I go to deliver the food, you stay home and wash the dishes?"

"Okay! Mission accepted!"

The two girls were already diligent and usually did whatever housework they could.

In a situation like this, they were even more eager to help.

At noon, Lily cooked several stomach-friendly dishes. She packed a portion into a lunch box, planning to deliver it to Russell shortly.

Aside from that, she also made a few other dishes for her father.

Her father didn't have much time left, so he didn't need to follow a strict diet.

Lily wanted to make him whatever he liked to eat during his final days.

When she brought the food into her father's room, he suddenly asked, "Are you going to deliver food to Mr. Hunter later?"
