Chapter 635: I’II Reward You
"Daphne has always been your rival. How is helping Sam considered betraying her own side? When it comes down to it, you're the one who isn't measuring up!"
"You'd better stop obsessing over Joyce Monroe. Otherwise, Sam Juarez is capable of anything!"
"Daphne Vaughn and Sam Juarez have always been good friends. If they keep joining forces in the future, your situation will only become more, difficult!"
The two men spoke one after the other, making Callan Crawford even more irritable.
"I'll figure out a way to handle these matters!"
"You'd better." The two middle-aged men stared at him intently. "You must protect the legacy your father left behind. As for Joyce Monroe, forget about her as soon as possible. There are plenty of women out there for you! If you remain obstinately deluded... remember, Daphne is also your father's child."
They were currently willing to support Callan.
But that didn't mean they were truly stuck with only this one option.
Callan's heart burned with the desire to kill someone, but for now, he could only swallow his anger and say, "I understand."
These two old geezers actually dared to threaten him.
But if they really abandoned him and went to support Daphne Vaughn, then he would truly be finished.
When it came down to it, it would be better if Daphne Vaughn didn't exist.
If she didn't exist, then those old fogeys under Jamarion would have no choice but to support him. At that point, no matter what he did, they would have to tolerate it.
Callan didn't show it on his face, but in his heart, he was already carefully calculating.
He had tried to kill Daphne Vaughn before but failed.
This time, he really needed to think it through carefully...
No matter what, he would never give up on Joyce Monroe.
In this lifetime, even if Joyce wouldn't be with him, she couldn't think of being with anyone else either!
Adeline Hensley brought up the matter of continuing cooperation with Wendy to Harrison Thomson.
Actually, a large part of the reason Harrison had been so adamant about canceling the cooperation was for Adeline's sake.
He was a man with a girlfriend now.
But Wendy had still shown him favor and hinted at having feelings for him.
Therefore, he felt that even though he had absolutely no interest in Wendy Han, he shouldn't have any further dealings with her.
This was what he, as a boyfriend, ought to do.
Of course, he could bear the
consequences; it would just take a bit more time.
"I imagine Wendy has learned her lesson by
now," Adeline said. "At most, you just don't meet with her in the future. If there's a need to discuss anything with her, send someone else."
"But... you don't mind?" Harrison asked, slightly frowning and looking at her with concern.
Adeline smiled, reaching out to wrap her arms around his waist.
"Do you think I don't trust you?" she asked, her eyes bright as she looked at him. "We've been through so much together... If I still didn't trust you, then I'd be a pretty poor girlfriend."
Harrison's heart felt as if wrapped in honey. He stroked her head and said, "I know you trust me."
"I just think Wendy isn't a malicious person," Adeline said. "There's no need to completely sever ties. We can still gain some benefit from it. We're businesspeople; why turn down profit when it's there? Besides, if you finish your work sooner, you'll have more time to spend with me. Otherwise, you're always buried in the company."
That was also part of the reason.
Adeline didn't want Harrison to work himself so hard.
Hearing her say this, Harrison thought for a moment and nodded.
"Alright, I'll listen to you."
"Good, you're so obedient."
Adeline raised her hand. Harrison cooperatively lowered his head, letting her vigorously ruffle his hair.
She messed it all up.
But Harrison didn't mind at all, still looking at her with eyes full of affection.
"Don't worry, if Wendy dares to have those inappropriate thoughts again in the future, I'll deal with her myself; you won't even need to lift a finger," Adeline said with a smile. "But I don't think she will. In her heart, her career is still the most important."
Harrison made a sound of agreement.
Looking at Adeline's smile, a sudden heat flashed in his eyes.
"I agreed to this matter for you. How are you going to reward me?"
"Hey, I was clearly thinking about your business interests! You should be the one rewarding me..."
"Fine, I'll reward you."
Adeline suddenly felt something was off about this phrasing.
But before she could react, her lips were already sealed by his, completely losing any chance to "resist."
In the morning, when Russell Hunter arrived at the Lin residence, Lily Sparrow was still making breakfast.
Her two younger sisters happily welcomed
Russell into their home.
"Good morning, Uncle Russell! You haven't had breakfast yet, have you? Perfect timing, have some of my sister's cooking! My sister's food is delicious!"
Russell was taken aback for a moment, then
smiled and nodded.
To be honest, it seemed like he hadn't eaten breakfast in a long time.
He knew it wasn't good for his health, but he had no appetite and couldn't be bothered.
Every day, as soon as he woke up, he'd dive into work or other matters, never feeling like having breakfast.
This morning was the same. As soon as he woke up, he handled some work, then hurried over to the Lin residence.
The police would be arriving soon; he was worried they might be nervous.
The aroma wafted from the kitchen. For some reason, Russell suddenly found himself feeling a bit hungry.
He was actually quite curious to taste Lily's cooking.
Not long after, Lily brought out a pot of dumpling soup.
The dumplings were homemade, and the
noodles were hand-rolled by her.
The fragrance was mouthwatering.
"Good morning," Lily greeted Russell.
"Morning."
Russell instinctively reached out to take it from her, but Lily deftly dodged and said with a laugh, "I can't let you do that. I've got it."
Her two younger sisters had already efficiently set the table with bowls and chopsticks.
"Uncle Russell, sit down!"
"Let's have breakfast together."
Lily served a bowl for everyone. Noticing Mr.
Sparrow hadn't come out of his room, Russell asked, "Is your father not eating?"
"Dad isn't awake yet," Lily said. "I saved some for him; I'll cook it for him when he wakes up. Here, try it. I'm very confident in my dumpling soup."
Seeing the expectant look in Lily's eyes, Russell picked up his chopsticks and took a bite.
"It's delicious," he praised.
The taste really was quite good, but more importantly, he liked this homely feeling.
This feeling made him feel as if he wasn't so alone anymore.
Hearing his praise, Lily's face lit up with obvious happiness.
After Russell finished his first bowl, she even served him a second.
Russell didn't refuse.
This feeling of warmth in his stomach, and warmth in his heart... it seemed like he hadn't experienced it in a very long time.
Just as they finished eating, the police arrived.
Lily hurried into the room to wake her father.
The police officers questioned Mr. Sparrow.
Mr. Sparrow truthfully told them everything he knew.
