Chapter 632 Would Joyce Find Me Annoying?
She was still willing to wish Russell happiness.
Adeline replied to Joyce's message: "Stop gossiping. Once you're back in Orianto, other things are manageable, but you must be careful with that creep Callan Crawford."
Although Callan had been lying low recently, that was only because he had been scared by Alberto Mendoza back in Yewhaina.
Now, Joyce and Sam were returning to Orianto.
Callan would definitely try to cause trouble again.
Even though she knew Sam would surely protect Joyce, thinking about it still made Adeline feel uneasy.
"Don't worry, I know," Joyce said. "Besides, I heard that Jamarion Green still hasn't woken up. With a good-for-nothing like Callan, what kind of major trouble could he possibly stir up?"
She glanced at Sam beside her and typed away:
"He's no match for our Sam at all, hmph!" And Jamarion only had the advantage of having lived a few more decades tSam.
By the time Sam reached Jamarion's age, he might not be any worse thim.
A faint, unconscious smile touched the corner of Adeline's lips.
She replied: "Yes, yes, you're absolutely right."
"Gotta stop chatting now, l'm going to sleep for a bit."
"Okay."
Not long after finishing her conversation with Joyce, Adeline arrived back at the Mendoza residence.
As soon as she entered, she saw Alberto holding Pharrell, sitting on the living room sofa, playing with him.
Monica was sitting nearby. The three of them together really did look like a family of three.
Adeline thought to herself, it was a good thing Connie Miller wasn't here to see this.
Otherwise, she would definitely be upset.
"Alberto, look, Pharrell seems really happy today!" Monica said with a smile. "He must know his daddy will be home with him for a long time today."
Alberto's expression cooled slightly. He did not respond to Monica's words.
Even Adeline could tell he didn't seem very keen on engaging with Monica.
He had been relatively polite to her before.
What was different now?
Adeline walked over. Hearing her footsteps, both Alberto and Monica turned to look at her.
"Adeline, you're back," Alberto said. "Are they on the plane?"
He knew Sam and Joyce were returning to Orianto today.
But he had been too busy recently to see them off, not even having time to come back and say goodbye.
He had only just managed to squeeze out a bit of time to come see Pharrell and had to leave again soon.
"Yes," Adeline said. "The plane has probably already taken off by now."
Monica sighed beside them. "With Joyce gone, the house feels strangely quiet without her laughter."
Adeline smiled and said, "If you miss her, you can call her."
"Would Joyce find me annoying?" Monica shrank back a little. "I remember her saying she'd have a lot to do once she's back in Orianto."
Adeline frowned slightly but didn't respond to that remark. She walked over and gently touched Pharrell's little face.
Alberto handed Pharrell to her, stood up, and said, "I have to go."
"Alberto, you're leaving already?" Monica quickly stood up as well, her eyes filled with disappointment. "You've been back for less tten minutes."
"There's a lot of work at the company,"
Alberto said, glancing at his watch. "I need to hurry back for a meeting."
It hadn't been easy for him to carve out this bit of time.
He still had to handle a few documents in the car on the way back to the office.
"Can't you have a video conference?"
Monica refused to give up. "I could hold Pharrell and sit nearby, I promise I wouldn't disturb you..."
Alberto said, "Some things aren't that simple. Once everything at the company is settled, I will definitely come back and spend more time with Pharrell."
With that, he strode away.
Adeline handed Pharrell to Monica and went to see Alberto out.
Monica originally wanted to follow, but Pharrell suddenly started crying, so she had to stay behind to soothe him.
Once they were outside, Adeline asked, "Brother, did something happen?"
"Why would you ask that?"
"Your attitude towards Monica today seems a bit off."
Alberto was taken aback for a moment, then smiled wryly. "Sure enough, nothing gets past you. But was my attitude that obvious?"
"Actually, not really," Adeline said.
But perhaps it was the "sibling intuition" between them.
She had noticed.
Alberto didn't hide it from her: "The other night, Monica came to the company."
"Went to the company to see you?"
"Yes." Alberto nodded slightly. "She said Mom asked her to bring me some food."
"That's impossible," Adeline said firmly.
While Gracie Mendoza was quite nice to Monica now-after all, she was the biological mother of her grandson -Gracie had never considered trying to matchmake Monica with Alberto.

Alberto.
For one thing, Gracie still preferred Connie in her heart.
For another, she knew very well who her son truly loved.
How could she possibly push another woman into her son's arms?
She gave her children's feelings full respect.
If Gracie really wanted to send food to Alberto, she could have sent anyone. She would never have sent Monica.
"I know that too," Alberto said. "So I...
He seemed to be choosing his words.
But even if he didn't say it out loud, Adeline understood.
Monica telling such a lie was very off-putting.
Moreover, she kept saying she didn't want to ruin Alberto and Connie's relationship, but her actions during this time didn't quite match her words.
"And that night, Connie happened to be there too," Alberto rubbed his temples.
"Thankfully Connie didn't misunderstand me, but thinking about it carefully, it still feels uncomfortable."
It wasn't that Monica couldn't have her own selfish motives.
After all, she did have a child with Alberto.
But her words and actions were inconsistent, and she tried to pin the blame on Gracie...
It was normal for Alberto not to want to be particularly friendly with her now.
"Alright, brother, don't overthink it," Adeline said.
"As long as Connie trusts you, that's what matters. Focus on solving the company's problems. Leave other matters to me."
Alberto patted her shoulder appreciatively.
"Good thing I have you, sis."
After Alberto left, Adeline returned to the living room.
Monica had just managed to calm Pharrell down, handed him ta tha mannie
and handed him to the nanny, and was walking out.
Seeing Adeline return, she asked with evident disappointment, "Has Alberto already left?"
"Yes," Adeline responded flatly, walking over to sit on the sofa.
A servant immediately brought her a steaming cup of black tea and placed her favorite dessert in front of her.
Adeline took a sip of the tea and added, "But you don't need to worry. Once the company matters are settled, my brother will naturally come back to spend more time with Pharrell. He's Pharrell's father; he won't shirk his responsibility."
"I know, I just..."
Monica looked at Adeline, feeling utterly guilty.
