One night stand with my president(chapter 617)

Chapter 617 Was He Really That Desperate?

Monica hurriedly left. Adeline pursed her lips and said to Harrison, "She was trying to eavesdrop on our conversation just now."

"Mhm." Harrison's expression darkened slightly.

Having a perfectly warm and cozy atmosphere disrupted naturally displeased him.

Not to mention, this Monica probably had some ulterior motives brewing.

"It seems we need to have someone keep a close eye on her," Adeline said.

Monica was Pharrell's mother. Unless absolutely necessary, and out of consideration for Alberto Mendoza and Pharrell, she didn't want to have a tense confrontation with Monica.

But if Monica intended to do anything harmful to the Mendoza family, she wouldn't be lenient.

The day arrived for Alberto Mendoza to be discharged from the hospital.

Monica got up early, planning to go to the hospital to pick him up.

But when she finished getting ready and went downstairs, she found Gracie Mendoza and Adeline sitting there calmly drinking tea, with no apparent intention of heading to the hospital.

Weren't they going to pick Alberto up upon his discharge?

Monica felt suspicious but also thought this might work in her favor.

She could go pick him up alone and take the opportunity to spend some quality time with him.

"Good morning, Mrs. Mendoza. Good morning, Adeline," Monica said as she approached and greeted them.

"Morning." Gracie smiled. "Would you like a cup of black tea?"

"No, thank you, Mrs. Mendoza," Monica said.

"I'd like to go to the hospital early."

Gracie looked at her in surprise. "What are you going to the hospital for? Today doesn't seem to be the day for Pharrell's check-up."

Monica was taken aback for a moment.

"Isn't today the day Alberto gets discharged? | was planning to pick him up..."

"Oh, you mean Alberto." Gracie said. "He told us there's no need to pick him up. He'll handle the discharge himself."

"Is that appropriate?" Monica quickly said.

"Anyway, I have nothing to do today. I should still go pick him up. It would be too pitiful for him to leave the hospital all alone."

"There's no need," Adeline said. "My brother mentioned he has some matters to attend to today. By this time, he has probably already left the hospital."

A sudden wave of unease washed over Monica.

Alberto had matters to attend to? He had just been discharged, his injuries weren't even fully healed. What matters could he possibly have?

At this moment, the only person who could possibly occupy his thoughts would be Connie Miller...

A tumult of emotions churned within Monica.

She hadn't expected Alberto to go looking for Connie the moment he was discharged.

Was he really that desperate?

Alberto had left the hospital before dawn.

Now, he stood outside the door of Connie's hotel room.

Glancing at the time, he figured Connie should be awake by now, so he raised his hand and knocked.

"Who is it?" Connie's voice came from inside.

Suppressing the unease and anticipation in his heart, Alberto didn't speak.

He was afraid that if Connie knew it was him, she wouldn't open the door.

After a moment, the door opened.

Connie, who had come to answer the door, looked at him standing there. Her expression was calm, without a trace of surprise.

"You knew it was me?" Alberto asked.

A hint of exasperation flashed across Connie's face.

She said, "There's a peephole on the door."

Alberto was stunned for a second, then gave an awkward smile.

He had been so focused on seeing Connie that he had completely forgotten about that.

"You... why are you discharged? Are your injuries healed?"

Connie tried her hardest to keep the tremor out of her voice.

Her inner state was far from the calmness she displayed outwardly.

"They're mostly healed. The doctor said I could be discharged," Alberto said.

Suppressing the impulse to pull her into his arms, he asked, "May I come in to talk?"
