One night stand with my president(chapter 596)

Chapter 596: What If It Were You?

On the way back, Connie Miller remained silent the entire time.

• Adeline Hensley didn't want to disturb her and simply accompanied her quietly.

Just as they were about to reach the Mendoza estate, Connie suddenly spoke.

"Adeline, what do you think I should do now?"

Her voice was filled with conflict and pain.

Right now, she desperately wanted to have a good cry, but the tears wouldn't come.

When she first learned the child was confirmed to be Alberto Mendoza's, she thought she could stay calm and think rationally.

But the more she thought, the more tangled her thoughts became, impossible to sort out.

Adeline looked at her with a pained heart but didn't know what to say.

Tell Connie to stay with Alberto Mendoza regardless of everything? That would be too cruel to Connie.

Tell Connie to leave Alberto? After all, Adeline was Alberto's sister...

Moreover, when it came to matters of the heart, others' opinions were often useless.

She also didn't want her own words to interfere with Connie's true feelings, as this situation was far from ordinary.

So she could only say: "You look exhausted. Go back and get some proper rest first. Get some sleep. However big the problem is, you can think about it after you wake up."

She was genuinely afraid Connie would fall ill before even making a decision.

Connie nodded silently.

When they arrived at the Mendoza estate, Joyce Monroe was waiting for them at the door.

She had also heard about Alberto Mendoza suddenly having a child.

Earlier, Adeline had messaged her saying she and Connie were on their way home.

Joyce immediately had some food prepared and ran to wait for them at the entrance.

After spending this time together, even if she and Connie weren't best friends, they were certainly good friends. Knowing her friend was going through this, Joyce naturally felt for her.

However, upon seeing Connie, she didn't immediately bring up Alberto or the child.

She just smiled and said, "You're back.

Perfect timing, the kitchen just made noodles, they should be ready soon. You must be hungry, right? Let's eat together in a bit."

Connie managed a weak smile in return.

She didn't really have an appetite, but then she thought, it had been a long time since she'd eaten. She couldn't let her health fail before resolving this situation.

In the dining room, the servants had just brought out three bowls of beef noodles.

The freshly made noodles steamed invitingly, with vibrant green scallions floating in the broth.

Under normal circumstances, Connie's mouth would water, but now, she just mechanicall lifted the noodles to her mouth.

mechanically lifted the noodles to her mouth.

She just didn't want to collapse easily.

After finishing the bowl of beef noodles, Connie went back to her room to sleep.

Adeline and Joyce stood in the living room, watching her retreating figure ascend the stairs step by step, worry evident in their eyes.

After Connie went upstairs, Joyce asked, "What does Alberto say?"

Adeline shook her head. "Judging by his state, I'm afraid he doesn't know what to do either."

"He really..!" Joyce said indignantly. "I never thought he'd also have a 'drunken mistake' like this. And I used to think he was so..."

She stopped mid-sentence, suddenly remembering that Alberto was Adeline's biological brother.

Was it appropriate to say such things in front of his sister?

Adeline glanced at her and said, "Say what you want to say. We've known each other for so many years, are you still being so formal with me?"

Joyce scratched her head.

"I was just worried you might feel bad. No matter what, Alberto has been a good brother to you. Sigh... Actually, come to think of it, I don't really have the right to blame him. Connie is the one suffering the most right now."

And, this incident was making her a little worried herself.

Sam Juarez had so many ex-girlfriends before.

What if one day, he suddenly ended up with a child too? What would she do then?

Joyce felt she would definitely go crazy.

Just the thought of it made her feel uncomfortable all over.

Coincidentally, Sam Juarez happened to walk downstairs, yawning.

He had been in a video conference very late last night, so he had just woken up and didn't yet know about Alberto suddenly having a child.

Seeing Adeline looking grave and Joyce seemingly glaring at him, he was utterly confused.

"What's going on?"

Adeline shook her head and sighed.

Joyce, however, glared at him and said, "You, come with me."

After saying that, she walked towards the back garden.

Sam Juarez, bewildered, had no choice but to follow her.

In the back garden, a few gardeners were busy working. Joyce didn't want to disturb them, so she started walking slowly along the garden path.

Sam Juarez followed closely beside her and reached for her hand.

"What's wrong?"

When he took Joyce's hand, he felt how cold it was.

"Why are your hands so cold? Are you sick?"

Sam's heart tightened with concern. He quickly placed his hands on her shoulders, stopping her.

When Joyce turned her head, he saw her face full of worry.

"Tell me what's wrong. I'm your boyfriend, you can talk to me, okay?" Sam asked patiently. Joyce curled her lips into a bitter smile. "Did you know? Alberto has a child."

Hearing this, Sam was stunned for a moment, then said, "You mean Connie is pregnant? Isn't that good news? They're about to get married..."

"It's not Connie's child," Joyce interrupted him.

"It's Alberto's, but not Connie's."

"There's such a thing?" Sam was shocked.

"Whose child is it? How did it happen? I thought Alberto and Connie had been dating for years?"

"They broke up for a while before. This child... it was a 'drunken mistake' during that time..."

"Tsk." Sam shook his head. "Alberto, really..."

He figured that since Joyce was close to Connie, she was probably upset on Connie's behalf, which explained her strange mood today.

But thinking about it, something still felt off.

"I keep thinking.." Joyce spoke again. "What if it were you? What would I do?"

Sam Juarez let out a helpless chuckle. He wrapped his arm around Joyce's shoulders, pulling her into his embrace, and said with a smile, "What nonsense are you thinking about?"

"You've had so many girlfriends before," Joyce said, her eyes reddening. "Who knows if you might end up like Alberto? What if one day a woman suddenly shows up with a child, saying it's yours... I think I might really go crazy."

Even though she had decided to accept his past when she got together with him...

Something like having a child was a completely different level.

Who wouldn't mind?

Sam Juarez said, "Don't worry, that could never happen."

"Really?"

Sam's mouth twitched. He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "On our first night together... didn't you think I was a bit.."

"What?" Joyce looked at him blankly.

"Ahem," Sam cleared his throat softly.

"Didn't you think I was... a little inexperienced?"
