One night stand with my president(chapter 571)

Chapter 571: You Can't Hide Anything From Me

Upon hearing those words, Alberto gave Harrison a meaningful look.

Harrison, still not even married to his sister, was already talking about "family."

But then again, it only showed Harrison's true intentions.

And in the end, it would be Harrison who would marry Adeline.

"By the way," Adeline said, her voice drawing Alberto's attention, "can you tell me about that night again?"

Alberto knew exactly what she meant. She was asking about the night they rescued Gracie.

That night had been intense, and even though things were over now, Harrison didn't want to scare Adeline.

He knew how strong she was emotionally, but still, there was no need to discuss the terrifying details if it could be avoided.

So Harrison gave her only a vague summary.

Adeline understood his intentions and didn't press for more.

"Well," Alberto said with a serious expression, "Killer really is a formidable character. If it had been anyone else, that night would've ended in total collapse, but he managed to escape with most of his people."

To be honest, under normal circumstances, Alberto would never want to be enemies with someone like Killer.

But now, there was no choice.

If they didn't take down that organization and catch Killer, he wouldn't be able to swallow this defeat.

"Alright, stop worrying about this now," Adeline said, her voice soft but firm. "What you need to do right now is rest. Leave everything else to us."

Alberto nodded slightly.

He knew that both Adeline and Harrison were dependable.

After talking for a while, the two of them left the room.

Adeline let out a long sigh.

After visiting Isaac and Alberto in the hospital today, though her heart was still heavy, she felt much better.

At least she had seen them with her own eyes.

Though seeing their injuries had been heartbreaking, being able to see them was far better than not knowing anything.

Harrison squeezed Adeline's hand and said,

"What you said to your brother just now reminded me of something, Adeline. Promise me, no matter what happens, no matter the situation, you can't hide things from me."

Adeline smiled faintly, pinching his face playfully.

"Don't worry, I know."

She paused for a moment, then added, "But honestly, if someone's in trouble, I can understand why they might want to hide things from the people they care about. After all, it's because they care too much and don't want to worry them."

Though she had just tried to comfort Alberto, she would respect his choice.

If he chose not to tell Connie this time, she wouldn't push him, and she'd help keep the secret.

After all, everyone had their own path to walk.

Harrison nodded. "It's a complicated issue, and everyone's situation, mindset, and challenges are different. In the end, it's up to each person to decide."

Adeline raised an eyebrow. "So our choice is not to hide anything from each other, no matter what?"

"Yeah," Harrison answered. "You can't hide anything from me."

"What about you?" Adeline asked quickly.

"Me?" Harrison answered vaguely, "I'll see how things go."

"What do you mean by 'see how things go'? You won't let me hide anything, but you get to decide based on the situation? That's a double standard!"

"Hey, hey... didn't you say you could understand?" Harrison teased.

"I can understand the personal choices, but I can't understand your double standards."

"All right, all right. I'm just joking, don't get mad."

Meanwhile, Edward was temporarily held in a detention center, separated from Frankie and Marshall.

He had no idea what had happened to them, nor did he care.

His mind was consumed with a single thought. "It was all over."

Just a few days ago, Edward had been full of ambition, thinking he would soon wield great power and rise to the top again.

But now, he had fallen into an abyss.

His involvement in the scheme to frame Harrison had been exposed.

His illegal activities were out in the open, and most importantly, his murder of Britney had been found.

The first two offenses, he could claim to be an accomplice.

But the murder of Britney? There was no way to deny it.

It was over. Everything was over.

Someone approached him. "Someone's here to see you."

Edward numbly followed as he was led outside.

When he saw Lorenzo standing there, his eyes instantly brightened, as if he had found hope.

"Dad..." Edward called out, excitement flooding his voice.

Lorenzo stared at him, his gaze filled with pain, anger, and helplessness.

"Dad, I was wrong," Edward said, tears streaming down his face, "It's all Frankie and Marshall's fault. They misled me."

Lorenzo didn't say a word; he just kept staring at him, his eyes full of disappointment.

"Dad, they told me this wouldn't hurt Harrison, that it would just weaken his power a little. I believed them, and that's why I went along with it. You know, Harrison is my son...

How could I hurt him?"

Edward continued to justify himself, but when he saw Lorenzo remain silent, his face showed confusion.

"Dad, why aren't you saying anything?"

Lorenzo sighed. "After all this time, you still haven't changed. Selfish, irresponsible... What should I even say?"

Edward opened his mouth in fear, but before he could speak, he said, "Dad, whatever happens, I'm your son, right? Are you just going to watch me rot in prison, or get sentenced to death? You know... I... I killed her..."

His voice trembled with fear.

"You know you killed her?" Lorenzo's tone turned sharply. "I never imagined you could do something like this. Edward, have you lost your mind?"

He began coughing violently, and the butler quickly stepped in to pat his back, anxiously saying, "Sir, please don't get upset, take care of your health."

Edward continued, "That woman wouldn't return to Yewhaina. I just... I lost control. And this was for the Thomson family's benefit. She didn't deserve to be part of it. You didn't want her in the family either, right?"

"You..." Lorenzo pointed at him, trembling with anger.

The butler shot Edward a harsh look.

"Dad, even if you don't care about me, what about Alondra? She has no mother now. Do you want her to lose her father? Alondra's so pitiful."

"You dare to mention Alondra? When you were doing all these things, did you ever think about her?"
