Chapter 547: It's Too Late
Myra was trembling with rage as she read the online comments.
Her friend, trying to comfort her, said, "Don't pay attention to it. The netizens just love to gossip, thinking they can say whatever they want without consequences."
Even though her friend's words were meant to console her, Myra still couldn't shake the feeling of injustice.
She had been through online harassment before.
She had thought that after all this time, she'd be able to handle it.
But now, it was her son being publicly humiliated and falsely accused.
She couldn't stay calm.
"Honestly, this whole situation is so strange," her friend continued, pondering aloud. "I've watched Harrison grow up. He's a business genius. He's been doing legitimate business for all these years. Why would he suddenly start doing something illegal? It doesn't make sense."
With Harrison's abilities, he could easily make a fortune in legitimate business.
The Thomson family was already extremely wealthy, and Harrison had personal assets beyond counting. There was no reason for him to risk everything by engaging in illegal activities.
"He must have been framed," Myra said through gritted teeth. "I know Harrison. He would never do something like this."
Suddenly, a thought crossed Myra's mind - Edward.
She hadn't seen him around much lately.
"Could this have something to do with him?
Could Edward really be involved in this? But Harrison is his son," she thought.
Her fists clenched tightly.
But then again, knowing Edward, Myra believed that he would do anything out of line.
If Harrison hadn't seen him in Yewhaina and sent him back to Orianto, Myra might not have believed that Edward had faked his death and run awar with another woman all those run away with another woman all those years ago.
"Are you alright?" her friend asked, noticing the troubled expression on Myra's face.
"I'm fine." Myra forced a smile, trying to regain her composure. "I'll make a call."
She didn't have Edward's phone number, but he had called her once before, and she had blocked him.
She just needed to unblock his number from the blacklist.
After taking a deep breath, she dialed the number.
Edward picked up almost immediately.
"Well, well, this is a surprise," he said with an odd tone in his voice. "You're actually calling me?"
"Do you know that Harrison's been taken in for questioning?" Myra asked coldly.
"I've already been kicked out of the Thomson family," Edward replied nonchalantly. "That brat doesn't care about me. Why would I know anything about his mess?"
Despite his words, his voice carried an unmistakable air of arrogance and mockery.
He wasn't even trying to hide his attitude, deliberately speaking to Myra in such a sarcastic tone.
"Is it really you?" Myra trembled slightly.
"Edward, how can you do this? Harrison is your son!"
"He's my son, but does he even recognize me as his father?" Edward suddenly shouted in anger.
"When Lorenzo kicked me out of the Thomson family, did Harrison say a word in my defense? No. He watched me get thrown out, watched me suffer... and didn't even give me a dime."
"And what about you?" Myra stood up, unable to contain her anger. "You abandoned your father, me, and Harrison. You ran off with that woman and left Harrison without a father for over a decade. What right do you have to complain that he doesn't care about you now?"
"So what? I'm back now, aren't I? It's not like
like they'll let me back into the Thomson family," Edward said, his voice filled with defiance.
Myra couldn't help but laugh bitterly at his audacity.
"Forget it, it's pointless to argue with you.
Edward, you're selfish to the core."
With that, she hung up the phone.
"Don't let it get to you," her friend said, handing her a glass of water. "We need to focus on what to do about Harrison. I've already sent someone to check on the situation. By the way, has Lorenzo said anything to you?"
Hearing this, Myra quickly looked at her phone and saw a message from Lorenzo. It read, "Don't worry, we have everything under control."
Seeing this, Myra felt a slight relief.
But she still couldn't ignore the situation.
She immediately sent people to gather more information, wanting to know when Harrison would be released.
Harrison had never been through anything like this before.
Meanwhile, on the other side, after hanging up the phone, Edward felt some unease in his chest.
Just like Myra said, Harrison was his son.
Now, by working with outsiders to frame his son and put him in danger of jail, Edward felt a bit conflicted.
"Edward, what are you thinking?" Frankie asked as he opened a bottle of champagne.
"Things are going so smoothly. Shouldn't we be celebrating?" he added.
"You're feeling uneasy, aren't you? I can tell," Marshall chimed in, mocking Edward.
Frankie poured champagne into each of their glasses, grinning. "Now that we've come this far, Edward, don't you think it's a bit late for you to feel uneasy?"
Edward, his patience wearing thin, drank his champagne in one gulp and said, "There's nothing to feel uneasy about. I'm about to have all the power. I should be celebrating, not sulking."
Frankie and Marshall exchanged looks, both
Silently mocking him.
"Power?" Marshall thought. "Once we succeed, we'll kick Edward out. He's just clueless, completely oblivious of what's happening. Dealing with him is just a piece of cake."
Meanwhile, Edward was frantically trying to calm himself down.
He said to himself inwardly, "It's fine. At most, Harrison will get a few years in prison. He's still young. Besides, it isn't like Harrison has given a damn about me. Consider this his little punishment."
"Alright, Edward, stop overthinking it," Frankie said, pouring him another drink and raising his glass. "Let's toast to the fact that we've already completed half of our plan."
Edward and Marshall raised their glasses in turn.
The three glasses clinked together.
Lorenzo sat in his study, reading his book
a pair of reading glasses.
Meanwhile, the household staff couldn't hold back their whispers.
"With all this going on, how can Mr. Lorenzo stay so calm?"
"Yeah, he's always been tough, but his precious grandson's in this kind of trouble. How is he not losing it?"

Lorenzo is watching how their evil plots will generate their outcome. What an old man as Lorenzo, I admire him a lot. He has secret spies working for him without them all knowing and that will finally break their pilots.
ReplyDeleteThe calmness of Lorenzo in the face of the 'scandal' and bad publicity means he's on top of it and very soon the culprits will be exposed and receive appreciate punishment.
