Chapter 606: What Can You Help Me With?
The man pointed at the wallet clutched tightly in the girl's hand and sneered, "You're holding my wallet right now, and you still dare say you didn't steal my money?"
"I found this on the ground!" the girl retorted indignantly. "I just picked it up from the floor!"
"Hah, who would believe you?" The man's face was full of contempt.
Among the onlookers, someone couldn't help but say, "I know this girl. She's an out-and-out swindler. She comes to the hospital every single day to trick people. If you don't keep an eye on her, she'll sneak up to the higher floors and cry outside the rooms of wealthy patients, claiming a family member is sick and begging for money."
"Really? So young, yet doing such things?"
"She clearly looks lazy and gluttonous!"
"And she even dares to steal someone's wallet? She should be thrown out of the hospital and banned for good!"
"It's no use. She's cunning. She always finds a way to slip in unnoticed."
The girl seemed utterly unfazed by the crowd's comments.
But she appeared to take the man's accusations very seriously.
"I said I didn't steal it, so I didn't! I just picked it up from the ground. If you don't believe me, go check the hospital's surveillance footage!"
"You want the hospital to review footage for you? Who do you think you are! And with so many people here who know you, who all know you're a swindler, what's the point of denying it?" the man said. "Come with me to the police station right now! Let's go!"
The girl's face suddenly paled, panic setting in.
"Let go of me! I'm not going! Here, just take your wallet back, alright?" With that, she shoved the wallet into the man's hands.
"Think just returning it is enough? A little cheat like you needs to be taught a lesson!"
The crowd echoed his sentiment. Seeing the situation turning against her, the girl bit her lip, her right leg tensing as if she was considering kickine the man in front of her.
Watching this, Russell Hunter gave a slight glance to the two men standing behind him.
"Mr. Hunter..."
His subordinates immediately understood his intention but couldn't grasp why he wanted them to help.
This girl swindled people at the hospital daily; giving her a lesson was only right!
However, they didn't dare disobey Russell's order. So, they went over to help the girl out of the predicament.
The man had already gotten his wallet back and was just holding onto his anger. One of the subordinates slipped a wad of cash into his hand, which naturally dissipated his fury.
He released the girl and walked away.
The two subordinates said a few more words to the girl. She immediately looked over towards Russell.
After a moment's hesitation, she walked up to him.
She looked up at Russell and said in Oriantonian, "Thank you for having your men help me out just now."
Russell was about to say "You're welcome," when the girl added, "But, about that money... I can't pay you back. I don't have that kind of cash!"
One of the subordinates couldn't help but laugh in exasperation. "You really are..."
Russell raised a hand to stop him, then said calmly, "I didn't intend for you to repay it."
"That's good then." The girl breathed a sigh of relief. "As long as I don't have to pay back the money, everything's fine. I owe you a favor today. If you ever need my help in the future, just say the word!"
As she spoke, she even stood on her tiptoes, straining to pat Russell on the shoulder.
The corner of Russell's mouth lifted slightly.
"What can you help me with?"
"Hard to say." The girl smiled mysteriously.
She leaned closer to Russell's ear and whispered, "I've been hanging around here for a long time.
I've... accidentally overheard quite a few secrets about people...'
