Chapter 558: The Watch
ended up in the hands of the organization, Catherine was likely involved with them.
She had her people find Catherine's photo, then begin digging deeper.
Since the organization was based in Yewhaina, it seemed likely that Catherine was there now.
The Mendoza family's operatives knew the importance of this, so they worked overtime to track down Catherine's whereabouts.
They discovered that Catherine had returned to Lubrea over a month ago to retrieve the watch.
After staying for less than two days, she had immediately flown back to Yewhaina.
It seemed she hadn't anticipated anyone would track her, as her flight details weren't kept secret.
Her plane had landed in Yewhaina's airport over a month ago.
Adeline had her people start reviewing the airport's surveillance footage.
Sure enough, they found Catherine's image on the tapes.
Following the footage, they traced her movements.
The last place she appeared in the video was at an intersection.
The car she was in headed west from there.
"Where does the west side of this intersection lead?" Adeline asked one of her men.
After thinking for a moment, he replied, "I know. There's a mountain there, quite isolated, and not many people go there. It's called Qille Mount."
"Qille Mount..." Adeline repeated the name thoughtfully.
After a pause, she said, "Send people to check the area, but be discreet. Don't let anyone know."
"Understood."
As her subordinate left, Adeline's phone suddenly rang.
She picked it up; and on the other end was the voice of a man she didn't recognize.
"Hello, Miss Hensley," the man said politely.
"This is Memphis Shannon, and Mr. Thomson asked me to assist you."
"Memphis..." Adeline's mind suddenly clicked.
Harrison had mentioned him before.
Memphis was a man with a private army-highly skilled mercenaries.
Several years ago, Memphis had worked with Harrison on something.
She wasn't sure what exactly had happened between them, but she knew Memphis admired Harrison greatly and always wanted to help him.
She hadn't thought much of it before, but now she realized that Harrison had sent him to help her.
"Thank you," Adeline quickly responded.
"Miss Hensley, there's no need to thank me," Memphis replied. "It's an honor to assist you and Mr. Thomson."
Adeline wondered what Harrison had said to
Memphis to get him to be so eager to help.
But now wasn't the time to dwell on that.
"I'm glad you're here," Adeline said. "I just found a clue. I believe there might be an important organization hideout at Qille Mount, and it's probably a key one."
Catherine was the daughter of a wealthy family in Lubrea.
She shouldn't be some small player in the organization.
There was a good chance she was in direct contact with the organization's boss.
As for how the watch ended up in the hands of the man who bought the coffee, that was irrelevant now.
That was an internal issue for the organization.
The most important thing was Qille
Mount.
If things went smoothly, Gracie might just be held there.
Meanwhile, in a room at a mansion on Qille Mount, a man's agonized screams echoed.
Catherine, watching the man being beaten, turned pale. She glanced nervously at the boss, afraid she might be next.
After all, it was she who had brought the watch back.
She had intended to give it to the boss, but to her surprise, the boss never wore it.
Instead, a man had said a few flattering words, made the boss laugh, and the boss had immediately given the watch to him.
Catherine had been right there, but the boss hadn't even cared.
It was as if he hadn't considered her feelings at all.
Without hesitation, he gave away the watch she had worked so hard to get.
She had bought the watch specifically for him, made sure to go back to Lubrea to retrieve it, afraid it might get damaged.
But it wasn't the watch she cared about. It was her feelings for the boss.
But now, she couldn't believe it.
This little watch had caused so much trouble.
The organization had an extensive intelligence network.
They had already learned that the Mendoza family had traced the watch and identified the buyer.
And now that the Mendoza family was on to her, her cover was blown.
She hadn't expected them to uncover her connection to the organization.
She never bothered to disguise herself when she went out or avoid the surveillance.
"But why would the Mendoza family be interested in the watch?" Catherine thought.
