One night stand with my president(chapter 554)

 Chapter 554: So It's You

Adeline continued to stare at the maid.

The maid clearly felt nervous, though she tried to maintain a calm exterior.

But her trembling hands betrayed her.

After a while, Adeline set her coffee cup down.

The maid's eyes briefly flashed with disappointment.

"Miss Mendoza, if you don't need anything else, I'll be on my way," the maid said, turning to leave, but Adeline's voice stopped her cold.

"Stay."

The maid froze in place.

She desperately wanted to ignore Adeline and run out of the room.

But she knew that even inside the Mendoza villa, there were always bodyguards watching over Adeline, and if she dared to flee, a single shout from Adeline would have them all over her in seconds.

Running would be useless.

It was better to stay and try to find an excuse to keep Adeline distracted.

"Miss Mendoza, is there something you need?" the maid asked.

"I feel like I've seen you before," Adeline said, her tone casual but pointed.

The maid stiffened at the words.

"Turn around. Take off your glasses and push your hair back. Let me have a look," Adeline instructed.

At this, the maid's hands shook even more, her entire body trembling.

"Miss Mendoza, I... I have very poor eyesight. If I take off my glasses, I won't be able to see anything..." the maid stammered.

"I don't need you to see anything," Adeline said coolly. "Just take off your glasses. Let me take a look, and then you can put them back on."

The maid hesitated, not moving an inch.

The maid, it turned out, was Camilla.

She had been responsible for cleaning the west tower, but recently, with so much going on at home, she'd used the chaos as an opportunity to slip into the kitchen.

She had claimed that her supervisor had sent her there to help.

The staff in the kitchen, seeing her quiet and obedient demeanor, hadn't thought twice.

With the recent abduction of Gracie, the household had been thrown into chaos, so no one paid much attention to her.

Camilla had taken the opportunity to make a cup of coffee and bring it to Adeline.

But, of course, this coffee had something extra in it.

The drug was something she had gotten from Pedro during one of their secret meetings.

It wasn't lethal, but it would certainly make Adeline suffer.

She had smuggled it in when she first arrived at the Mendoza family.

At first, she just wanted to make Adeline suffer.

But that wouldn't truly satisfy the hatred she felt.

Now, though, she had no other choice.

This was all she could do.

Her plan had been to make Adeline drink the coffee, and before the drug took full effect, she would make her escape.

But Adeline hadn't even touched the coffee.

And she even realized something was off.

Camilla was too afraid to move, too afraid to take off her glasses.

At that moment, two bodyguards entered the room, sensing something was wrong.

"Grab her," Adeline ordered.

Seeing the situation deteriorate, Camilla glared at Adeline with hatred, reaching out to grab her.

If she could just get her hands on Adeline, she could use her as leverage.

But before her hand even got close to Adeline, a swift kick knocked her off her feet.

She slammed hard into the floor.

The two bodyguards quickly restrained her, pinning her down.

"Sorry, Miss Mendoza," one of the bodyguards said. "We didn't think to check her since she was dressed like one of the maids."

"It's fine," Adeline replied.

Camilla had already been blending in for days.

The bodyguards hadn't thought she would be an issue.

At first, Adeline hadn't been entirely sure there was something wrong with the maid, but she had found her behavior strange and wanted to confirm her suspicions.

When Camilla had panicked so visibly, that had been enough.

"Take off her glasses," Adeline commanded.

"No!" Camilla cried out, her voice raspy and even more unsettling.

The bodyguards, unfazed, removed the glasses from her face.

Adeline stared at her for a moment, then smiled, "Oh, so it's you after all."

Truthfully, Litzy's and Fletcher's attempt to alter Camilla's appearance had been quite successful.

Not only did she wear glasses and change her hairstyle, but they had also used special makeup to alter her features and even added a few fake moles.

As long as Camilla didn't scrub her face too hard, the makeup and moles wouldn't come off.

If Camilla had simply removed her glasses when Adeline asked, Adeline might not have recognized her.

But the maid had been too nervous to comply.

And now, Adeline had figured it out.

Camilla, realizing she had been exposed, sneered.

"It's me. Adeline. I didn't think your vigilance

would be this strong."

Adeline shook her head, smiling wryly. "It's not just about being vigilant. Your acting and your mindset are just terrible."

If Camilla had simply removed her glasses without hesitation earlier, Adeline wouldn't have thought twice.

She glanced at the untouched coffee on the table and asked, "What did you put in this coffee?"

Camilla stubbornly retorted, "I didn't put anything in it. It's just regular coffee."

Adeline's expression hardened. "I've met plenty of people like you-stubborn and lying. Camilla, I'm not in a good mood right now, so I suggest you stop pushing your luck. Do you really think I'm the type to show mercy?"

Her face was calm, but there was an eerie, unsettling energy in her words.

Camilla knew that Gracie had been kidnapped.

With everything going on, how could Adeline be in a good mood?

But if Camilla told the truth now, Adeline would definitely not let her go.

Her eyes flickered toward the coffee, filled with hesitation.

Adeline was growing tired of the stalling.

"Whether you speak now or later, the outcome will be the same. I suggest you tell me everything now. It'll save you some pain."

One of the bodyguards spoke up, trying to reason with her.

Camilla pursed her lips, still silent.

A flash of anger flickered in Adeline's eyes.

She was already irritated.

And now, Camilla was causing trouble for her.

She waved her hand dismissively and said, "Take her downstairs. I don't care what methods you use, but make her tell us everything she knows."

"Yes, Miss Mendoza," the bodyguards replied, dragging the pale Camilla out of the room.

The coffee was carefully taken away and preserved.

It was an important piece of evidence.

Adeline thought Camilla's resolve wouldn't last long. She'd crack under pressure soon enough.

But what she didn't expect was how quickly

Camilla would break.

Within minutes, a bodyguard returned with news.

"Miss Mendoza, she's willing to talk."
