One night stand with my president(chapter 566)

Chapter 566:  Never Want to Be Apart Again

It took a while, but eventually, they pulled away from each other.

They sat on the couch, exchanging tender glances and soft smiles, until Adeline finally broke the silence. "So, what's the situation in Orianto now?"

Harrison leaned back, a flicker of relief crossing his face. "It's all taken care of. Frankie, Marshall, and... him-everyone's been arrested."

At the mention of "him," there was a brief flash of pain in Harrison's eyes, though his expression remained neutral.

Adeline caught it.

She knew exactly who he meant. It was Edward.

She couldn't help but reach out, gently stroking his forehead, her heart aching for him.

"What did it feel like?" she whispered. "To know your own father had a hand in betraying you?"

Harrison squeezed her hand, his smile gentle yet weary.

"I'm fine," he assured her. "After everything, my emotions have settled."

He had expected it, really. After all, Edward, Frankie, and Marshall had plotted against him for so long.

But there was no reason to dwell on that now.

He had outsmarted them.

Frankie and Marshall had spent so long planning their betrayal, but as usual, their positions made certain tasks difficult.

Edward, on the other hand, was different.

As Lorenzo's son, his position in the Thomson family had afforded him access and power, and people respected that.

They had sought him out, thinking his involvement would smooth things over, never knowing he would become part of the plan to frame Harrison.

When they had accused him of smuggling contraband and collaborating with foreign forces, they thought everything was going according to plan.

The fake evidence went unnoticed, and Harrison was even taken in for questioning.

But what they didn't know was that Harrison had already seen through their plot.

His detainment? A ruse to mislead them into thinking they'd won.

It was all part of his plan to lure them into revealing their next move.

They believed they were succeeding, only to fall into Harrison's trap when the evidence he'd planted came crashing down on them.

With Sam's help, they had assisted the police in finding the evidence that linked Frankie and Marshall, along with the international criminal syndicate, in smuggling prohibited goods.

Once, they had framed Harrison with false evidence, accusing him of smuggling contraband.

They had thought they had won, believing their deceitful plan had succeeded.

But they never imagined that one day, it would backfire.

The evidence was irrefutable. They had nowhere to hide.

Even their hidden stash of illicit goods had been uncovered.

Now, all three of them were arrested, and the truth was made public.

The police released the facts online, revealing who the true criminals were.

Not only had Harrison been wronged, but he had also helped the police solve a major case.

Those who had once vilified him online were now silent, some even deleting their accounts in fear.

When all of this was over, Harrison immediately went to Yewhaina, not even taking time to rest.

He was beyond caring about his own fatigue.

All he wanted was to be by Adeline's side, never to be apart from her again, and to protect her from any harm.

After hearing the entire story from Harrison, Adeline was still shaken. her heart racing.

"This was too close," she said, holding his hand.

"If you hadn't noticed their plans in time, what would have happened?"

"I would have found a way," Harrison said with a reassuring smile as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm your boyfriend. If I couldn't handle something like this, then I wouldn't be worthy of that title."

Adeline huffed, rolling her eyes. "You're so full of yourself."

"And even if I hadn't known, Grandpa would have," Harrison continued. "He's been sharp all his life. What could slip past him? Except... except for the time..."

Except for when his father faked his death and left home.

After all, even someone as perceptive as Lorenzo couldn't have predicted that his son would abandon his wife and children.

"Did Lorenzo know about all this?"

Adeline asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Kind of," Harrison replied, a little hesitant.

In truth, Lorenzo had barely gotten involved.

But he trusted Harrison, knowing that his grandson could always find a way out of any crisis.

This was, in a way, a test for Harrison.

"Before all this, Grandpa warned Marshall," Harrison went on. "Too bad Marshall, though he sensed something was off, didn't understand what Grandpa meant in time and didn't change course. Now, both he and Frankie are going to be stuck in prison for a long time."

Adeline nodded, remaining silent.

"Everyone has their struggles," she thought.

But her heart was filled with anger toward those who had tried to set Harrison up.

If it weren't for Harrison's brilliance, it could have been him in prison instead.

And so, Adeline's final act of kindness was to simply stop criticizing them.

"Then... what about him?" Adeline asked carefully. "Is he going to prison too?"

Harrison nodded grimly.

Although Edward had never participated directly in the illegal activities, he had been an accomplice in this latest scandal.

But his past crime-the murder of Britney-had finally been uncovered.

He had thought he had covered his tracks well.

After all, Britney had no one in Orianto to expose him. No one would find out.

But the law may be broad, but nothing could escape it. Edward couldn't escape justice.

When the police discovered his connection with Frankie and Marshall, they had already started investigating him and his network.

And that was when they discovered Britney's disappearance.

The police had even found the burial site and dug up her body.

Just the murder charge alone was enough to keep Edward locked away for the rest of his life.

Adeline sighed quietly after hearing this.

Her heart ached tor Harrison, but also for Alondra.

"How devastated would Alondra be if she found out?" she thought.

Alondra's mother passed away, and the person who killed her was her father...

"Alondra doesn't know, does she?" Adeline asked nervously.

"She doesn't," Harrison said. "Grandpa has forbidden anyone from mentioning it to her.

We're not sure how long we can keep it from her, but she's still too young. We'll keep it from her for as long as we can."

Adeline nodded slightly, then hugged

Harrison tightly.

She didn't say much, but Harrison understood her perfectly.

She was worried about him, wanting to comfort him in this way, showing him that she would always be there by his side.

No matter what happened, she wouldn't leave.
