Chapter 569: Long Overdue Death
As long as his sister's safety was guaranteed, Harrison knew Kyson could speak the truth without fear.
And the person who had instructed him to send Adeline the message had promised to send his sister abroad for proper treatment, but failed to keep their word... Kyson would never forgive that person.
He wouldn't hide the truth from them anymore.
Though Harrison and Adeline had long suspected someone, they couldn't accuse anyone without solid evidence.
It was better to find out the truth first.
"The situation with Tia isn't good. She can't even speak yet," Harrison said. "In a few days, I'll arrange for them to talk, maybe even have a video call."
Adeline nodded slightly, her thoughts on the siblings' tragic fate.
They were separated for so many years, and now, upon reuniting, one of them suffered from depression and the other from cancer.
And now, they were nothing more than pawns in someone else's game.
"If possible, let's try to be kinder to Tia," Adeline said softly. "She's truly innocent in all of this."
"Don't worry. I knew you'd say that," Harrison said with a smile. "I've already arranged everything."
Adeline smiled back, standing on tiptoe to place a light kiss on his cheek.
"For you."
Harrison's gaze shifted slightly, and before Adeline could react, he bent down, swept her off her feet, and started walking back into the room.
"What are you doing?" Adeline gasped, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Someone might see us..."
"They won't," Harrison reassured her, "Everyone at home is understanding."
"Well, at least put me down..."
"I'm carrying you to the room," he said, "That little reward wasn't enough."
"Hey, let go of me..."
But in the end, neither of them did anything.
Adeline couldn't find the mood, as her mind was still occupied with Isaac and Alberto in the hospital.
She simply wasn't in the mood.
Harrison, of course, wouldn't force her.
For him, as long as she was by his side, he was content.
There were many more days ahead of them; no need to rush.
That night, with Harrison by her side, Adeline slept soundly, comforted by his presence.
The next morning, Memphis brought them good news.
The two people from last night had finally told the truth.
They were indeed members of the
organization.
But just as Adeline had guessed, they weren't important members.
They were just two low-level operatives.
They hadn't even seen Killer more than a few times.
Their mission to monitor the Mendoza family wasn't ordered directly by Killer, just a task from their superiors.
They had thought they were careful enough.
But they hadn't anticipated that Harrison's people would catch them.
And when they felt the pressure from Memphis' methods last night, they couldn't bear it anymore.
They spilled everything they knew.
However, they didn't know much about the organization's inner workings.
All they could offer were names of people they had met in the organization and a few tasks they had completed together.
These tasks were as varied as they were vile.
Kidnapping, murder, arson, theft-there was no crime they hadn't committed.
No one could imagine how many lives they'd destroyed.
When they took a job, they never cared about the harm it would cause.
As long as there was money to be made, they'd take any job.
Memphis had already made sure to record everything they said last night.
In the morning, he brought it to Harrison and Adeline.
Adeline glanced at it for a moment before recoiling in disgust, unable to stomach it.
Harrison skimmed through it quickly, then turned to Memphis. "Take this evidence and those two straight to the police," he ordered.
The police had been trying to track down the organization for a long time.
With these two and their testimonies, the police might finally get a lead.
"Though they were just accomplices, their crimes are numerous," Memphis added.
"Handing them over to the police, according to Yewhaina law, they'll definitely be sentenced to death."
This was no longer something they needed to worry about.
These kinds of people should have been dead a long time ago.
Adeline said, "They were just low-level members of the organization, yet they've committed so much evil. Imagine how much blood would be on the hands of the higher-ups in that group."
She had just seen on the list that they had participated in an extermination mission, killing an entire family of eight, four-year-old children included.
That was when she couldn't take it anymore.
Besides that, they had done other
despicable things, ruining lives that took years to build.
Adeline's hatred for Killer grew even stronger.
Seeing her upset, Harrison tried to console her, "Don't be angry. Today, I'll take you to visit your father and brother."
"Really?" Adeline's heart skipped a beat.
"But... if I go out, won't it be dangerous?"
She had always avoided going to the hospital to visit Isaac and Alberto because she feared that leaving the house might bring more trouble.
"It won't be dangerous," Harrison said confidently. "Trust me, I'll keep you safe."
He knew that Adeline had been worrying about Isaac and Alberto all along, yet hadn't dared to go visit them, staying cooped up at home.
But now that he was here, he wouldn't let her suffer any longer.
He was certain that the organization was still watching her.
After all, those two had been seen near the Mendoza family the previous night.
But that was fine. He had already made thorough preparations.
From the Mendoza family to the hospital, he would provide the most meticulous protection for Adeline.
If he were to take Adeline out, he would make sure she suffered not a scratch.
If he couldn't even do that, then he wasn't worthy of being her boyfriend.
With his promise, Adeline finally felt at ease.
Adeline nodded, smiling at him. "I believe you."
After breakfast, the two of them set off.
Connie had wanted to accompany Adeline to the hospital, but Adeline, unsure of Alberto's condition, made up an excuse to go alone.
She would check on Alberto first and then decide.
If Alberto had been hiding his injuries, he clearly didn't want Connie to know.
Once they left the house, they headed straight to the hospital.
Before long, Adeline found herself standing in front of Isaac's hospital room.
She took a deep breath, her heart racing with nervousness.
She feared that once she entered, seeing Isaac battered and bruised, she might lose control of her emotions.
Just then, a warm hand gently took hers.
