One night stand with my president(chapter 551)

Chapter 551:  Torturing Others Is His Pleasure

Adeline let out a bitter laugh, her expression momentarily softening.

"But now, I suppose he has a lot to deal with on his end, too," she murmured.

Joyce instinctively asked, "You know?"

"Yeah, I know a little," Adeline replied softly. "I just hope he's alright."

Gracie still hadn't been rescued.

If something happened to Harrison, she might not be able to handle it.

Hearing this, Joyce felt a little lighter.

If Adeline knew anything about Harrison, then even if she knew he was being taken away for questioning, she wouldn't be too upset. After all, she must have prepared herself for something like this.

Adeline patted Joyce's hand. "Sorry, Joyce, I didn't mean to worry you."

"Don't apologize to me. We're friends."

Joyce shook her head helplessly.

Adeline had so much on her mind. She hardly had time to explain everything to Joyce.

And she certainly wouldn't blame Adeline for something like this.

"Adeline," Joyce said, pulling her into a hug,

"they'll all be alright. Trust me, okay?"

Adeline closed her eyes and nodded slightly.

Meanwhile, Gracie watched the man hang up the phone, his expression dark.

"Adeline won't come," she said.

The man chuckled. "By all accounts, Mrs.

Mendoza, you should know your daughter well. I should trust you. But according to my investigation, Miss Hensley is a person of strong loyalty, and besides, you are her real mother. I don't believe she would abandon you."

Gracie's gaze darkened.

If this man knew all this, how could she not?

She had only said that to appear strong.

In reality, she was deeply afraid that Adeline would come. butting herself in harm's way to

exchange her own safety for hers.

Gracie had been separated from her daughter for over twenty years.

After all that effort to find her again, if she were to ask Adeline to trade her life, she might as well die.

Gracie turned her head toward the window.

If she died, the organization couldn't use her to threaten Adeline anymore.

And then Adeline would be safe.

But the man seemed to have seen right through her thoughts. He waved his hand, and two women immediately moved forward to seize Gracie.

"Mrs. Mendoza," the man's voice was cold. "I advise you not to entertain any other thoughts."

Even if three days passed and Adeline didn't show up, he wouldn't let Gracie die immediately.

He would torment her slowly.

For example, today, he might send Adeline a finger, tomorrow, an arm.

Torturing people was his pleasure.

So he wouldn't let Gracie die so easily.

Not only would he not let her die, but for the next three days, Gracie would be well taken care of, with food and drink, and no harm would come to her.

That was his rule.

"Who made you capture Adeline?" Gracie demanded.

"Mrs. Mendoza, you've asked this question many times. Do you see anyone answering you?"

After speaking, the man waved his hand.

And with that, the two women forcibly dragged Gracie away.

They locked her in a room.

The window in this room was locked, and there were no sharp objects inside. The walls and other hard surfaces were padded with soft coverings.

Gracie couldn't even die if she wanted to.

And to be honest, no one would want to die unless absolutely necessary..

If it really came down to Adeline risking her life* for hers, she could make that decision.

But right now, the thought of death still made her feel a little scared.

But there were still three days.

Her family's faces flashed through her mind.

She believed they would save her within three days.

Jasmine waited anxiously in the detention center, staring at the sky, hoping for a miracle.

Finally, Rogelio showed up and got her out.

The moment they were outside, Rogelio immediately ushered her into a car.

"Drive," Rogelio told the driver, breathing heavily.

The driver stepped on the gas, and the car sped away from the detention center.

"Honey, you're amazing," Jasmine said, holding  Rogelio's face and planting a kiss on it.

Rogelio, however, looked exhausted and seemed to want to keep her at a distance. He gently pushed her away.

But Jasmine was too happy to notice.

"Honey, I knew you'd get me out," she said.

"Although it took you so long... You have no idea what I went through in there."

Rogelio rubbed his temples. "What could I do? Russell was watching us closely. If it weren't for the recent events that distracted him, I would never have had the chance to get you out."

"What has happened?" Jasmine asked, curious.

"Something's wrong with the Thomson family. It has nothing to do with us," Rogelio replied. "'lI take you to a hotel for the night. Tomorrow, I'll catch a flight abroad. I'll try to book a last-minute ticket, and you can come with me. We can't waste any more time. If we delay too long, Russell will notice, and then you won't be able to leave."

"The Thomson Group?" Jasmine immediately seized on the detail. "Is it about Harrison? Or Adeline?"

"Why do you care about this?" Rogelio asked impatiently.

Jasmine quickly replied, "If Adeline hadn't refused to help me, I wouldn't have done any of that. If it wasn't for Harrison pushing me into a corner, I wouldn't have stolen money.

So now, I'm glad watching them fall apart."

She gritted her teeth, her face full of pride and malice.

Rogelio stared at her, seemingly stunned.

The Jasmine he knew had always been gentle, understanding, and dependent on him.

Rogelio had never seen her like this.

Even when they had an affair all those years ago, she had been crying and telling him she didn't want to, but for the sake of being with him, she had no choice but to do it.

But now, thinking back, Rogelio should have known her true colors when she threatened to expose what they had done back then.

But there was no other way.

If he didn't get her out, she would drag him down with her.

If Russell found out about what happened all those years ago...

He didn't dare to imagine the consequences.

And he couldn't leave her alone in Orianto.

If Russell caught her again and pushed her to the edge, she'd definitely spill everything.

The most important thing was, after all these years of marriage, he still had some feelings for Jasmine.

So he decided to take the risk and leave with her.
