One night stand with my president(chapter 600)

Chapter 600: Are You Really Going to Be Jealous...

"She rested in her room last night," Adeline Hensley said. "We wanted to give her some space, so we didn't disturb her. She came out for breakfast with us this morning and then went back to her room."

Connie Miller looked normal on the surface.

But at a time like this, appearances were meaningless.

She was just enduring the pain silently.

Hearing this, Alberto Mendoza murmured,

"That's good... As long as she's eating..."

He couldn't heal the emotional pain he'd caused Connie yet.

He didn't want her physical health to suffer too.

"I've told the staff at home to keep a close eye on Connie," Adeline said. "She'll be okay."

Alberto nodded slightly.

He looked exceptionally haggard, his condition seemingly worse than when he was first injured.

Adeline's heart ached for him. "You need to find a way to cope too. What's done is done.

Tormenting yourself won't help."

"I know," Alberto said with a strained smile.

He was a man; he wouldn't allow himself to collapse easily.

Especially now that he was a father.

No matter what, he had to take responsibility.

Hesitating, he said, "The child..."

From the moment Monica appeared with the child until now, he hadn't properly held the baby.

His feelings were complicated, to say the least.

Just then, Gracie Mendoza walked in, holding Pharrell.

She had stayed at the hospital last night to care for the child.

Seeing Adeline, her first instinct was also to ask about Connie.

After Adeline updated her, Gracie sighed.

"She's really suffering through this. In the end, our Mendoza family has wronged her."

They wanted to make it up to her, but didn't know how. Offer money? That wasn't the issue, but giving Connie money now would feel like an insult, an insult to her relationship with Alberto.

They knew Connie.

She wouldn't be happy receiving money.

Gracie walked over to Alberto, holding the child.

"You're the father. You should hold him."

Alberto made a sound of acknowledgment and reached out to take the child.

Looking at the baby's pale little face, his heart ached too.

"What did the doctors say? How serious is the child's illness?"

"Very serious," Gracie said gravely. "Several specialists are coming today. After they examine him, they'll develop a treatment plan."

Alberto gently touched the baby's cheek with his finger.

The baby suddenly started wailing.

Alberto, inexperienced and flustered, didn't know what to do. Gracie quickly took the child back to soothe him.

Whether it was Gracie's skillful soothing or the child was too weak from illness, the crying stopped after a few moments.

Alberto was very embarrassed. "Did I hurt him just now?"

He had been very gentle, never expecting the child to cry.

"It's fine, babies are just like that," Gracie said with a smile. "And he's sick; he might have felt uncomfortable again, that's why he cried."

Hearing this made Alberto feel even worse.

"He's so little, and he has to suffer like this," Alberto said. "It's all my fault..."

If he hadn't had that drunken mistake that night, if he hadn't been so out of it he didn't even know he'd been with Monica, if he had known about the child earlier...

Maybe Pharrell wouldn't be in this state now.

"Regretting it is useless now that things have reached this point," Gracie said. "And our Mendoza family will not let anything happen to this child."

Then, Gracie checked the time and said, "Your father should be waking up soon. I'll take the child to see him."

Isaac Mendoza already knew about Monica and the child.

If he weren't still recovering from his injuries, he would have definitely taken a belt to Alberto.

His stance was the same as Gracie's:

They couldn't abandon the child or his mother, but they also couldn't wrong Connie Miller.

Isaac still loved his grandson and had specifically asked Gracie to bring the child for him to see in the morning.

After Gracie left with the child, Alberto fell into deep thought.

Adeline took Harrison Thomson's hand and walked out of the room.

Adeline took Harrison Thomson's hand and walked out of the room.

"Did you hear that Russell Hunter fainted and was hospitalized?"

"I heard," Harrison Thomson said, reaching out to tuck a stray strand of her hair behind her ear. "I suspect it's probably related to Rogelio Hunter and Jasmine Hunter."

They must have done something else to provoke Russell Hunter.

Adeline hesitated, then said, "I thought about going with you to see him, but on second thought, it doesn't seem necessary."

If she went with Harrison Thomson, wouldn't that just upset Russell Hunter more?

Better not to go.

But if she went alone...

That didn't feel right either.

It was clear Russell Hunter still had feelings for her.

If she visited him like that, what if it gave him false hope?

Her own intentions were pure, but she couldn't be sure how others might interpret it.

Especially after Russell's previous attempt to drive a wedge between them.

She just wanted to keep her distance from

Russell Hunter now.

Harrison Thomson understood her thoughts. "I'll go by myself later."

One thing at a time. Russell Hunter had tried to scheme against them before, but he had also helped them.

Lately, because of the previous scheming,

Harrison had caused Russell quite a bit of trouble in business, keeping him swamped.

But if Russell Hunter was truly facing something serious now, Harrison would lend a hand.

Not for any other reason, but because Russell Hunter had helped Adeline Hensley in the past.

Repaying that favor would also prevent any future entanglements.

"Okay. If you're going, don't argue with him," Adeline said. "No matter what, he's a patient now."

Harrison Thomson's brow furrowed slightly.

Adeline laughed, pinched his ear, and said, "Are you really going to be jealous about that?"

"I'm not jealous," Harrison Thomson said, taking her hand. "I just think you don't trust me enough. You feel the need to specifically remind me about such a small thing."

"Ah, what can I do?" Adeline sighed deliberately.

"You're always so unreliable."

"Me? When am I unreliable? I'm the most reliable person."

"Really? Then how come I heard this morning that a little nurse asked for your contact information last night?" Adeline asked.

Harrison Thomson: "..."

She even heard about that.

“Harrison Thomson: "

She even heard about that.

"I didn't give it to her," Harrison Thomson said quickly.

He had refused immediately, and the person hadn't persisted.

So he hadn't bothered mentioning such a minor incident.

"Of course I know you didn't," Adeline said.

"Otherwise, I would have given you a good talking-to already. But this incident proves that he really can't be considered reliable, can he?"
