One night stand with my president(chapter 565)

Chapter 565: Never Wanting to Be Apart Again

The kitchen was filled with the delightful aroma of fried dough.

As Adeline entered, she saw Gracie making beignets, the golden pastries almost done.

A plate of beignets sat nearby, already cooked.

"Smells amazing," Adeline said, walking over eagerly to grab one, but Gracie swatted her hand away.

"Did you wash your hands?"

"I washed up right after getting up this morning,"

Adeline replied, her voice tinged with a hint of complaint.

"That's not good enough. Be careful. It's hot," Gracie scolded. "You're not a child anymore! If you want to eat, go grab some utensils."

"Okay." Adeline sighed, grabbing a pair of tongs and helping herself to a piece of beignets.

The moment she bit into it, the heat made her gasp, but she smiled through it. "Wow, it's so sweet and delicious! Mom, I didn't know you had this kind of skill."

"Of course I do," Gracie said proudly, her tone lightening. "I can do all kinds of things."

Then, her voice softened. "It's just a pity your father and brother won't get to taste these."

Adeline's heart sank a little at her words. Even though they could send the food to the hospital, it wouldn't be the same as when it's fresh and hot.

She put her utensils down, her hands gently wrapping around her mother's waist from behind.

"Mom, once they're all recovered, we'll have a big feast together," she said.

Gracie smiled, "Of course we will. By then, Harrison should be here too, right?"

At the mention of Harrison, Adeline felt a lump form in her throat.

"Yes, he will be," she whispered, her voice almost breaking.

"Don't get too close, you might burn yourself," Gracie warned as she focused on frying the beignets.

Adeline stepped back, reluctantly releasing her mother. When the beignets were finally done, Gracie turned off the burner and started plating them. "So, how's Harrison doing? Is he really fine?" Gracie asked as she filled a plate.

Adeline sighed, wiping away a tear. "He promised me he'd be fine. He called once, but hasn't since. I didn't want to disturb him, and I'm sure he's got enough on his plate."

Gracie nodded, though she didn't look convinced. "It's worrisome, but since he was able to get Memphis to help, it seems like things should be alright. I don't think Harrison would ever get involved in anything illegal."

"He's been framed," Adeline replied quickly, her voice sharp.

"Who framed him? Do you know?"

Adeline leaned closer to Gracie and quietly listed the names of the people involved.

Gracie's eyes widened. "Are you serious? I can see those two, but the other one? How is he mixed up in this?"

"I know," Adeline said, her voice heavy with frustration. "That's why it's so hard to see him go through this."

Gracie frowned, shaking her head. "Poor guy, he really does deserve better."

When Gracie had finished making breakfast, they sat down to eat together with Connie and Joyce.

Even though Gracie had been safely rescued, the organization was still active, and many of their key members were still out there. Their boss had yet to be caught. So Adeline couldn't afford to relax. She immediately started going over leads again, reviewing everything she could find, hoping for a breakthrough.

She had found Qille Mount through a small lead in the surveillance footage before, so she knew it was possible.

She worked tirelessly, her eyes glued to the screen, as the day passed by without her realizing it.

By evening, her stomach started protesting.

She stretched and closed her laptop, heading downstairs.

"What's for dinner?" she asked as she descended.

Before anyone could answer, she froze, her eyes widening as she saw a familiar figure standing in the living room.

He stood there, smiling at her, looking slightly weary but with an unmistakable presence.

He must have rushed here as soon as the mission ended.

"Adeline," he said softly, "I'm here."

Adeline stood frozen, staring at Harrison as if she were in a dream.

"Harrison?" she whispered.

"It's me," he answered, his arms open wide as if inviting her in.

Adeline couldn't hold herself back anymore.

She rushed toward him, throwing herself into his arms, her tears flowing freely.

"Harrison, you idiot... do you know how worried I was about you?"

"I know," Harrison murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "I'm sorry, Adeline. It's all over now. You don't have to worry anymore."

Adeline pulled back just enough to look him over, checking him for injuries.

"Are you alright? Why didn't you tell me you were coming? Did anything happen on the way here? Were you hurt?"

"I'm fine. Don't worry," Harrison reassured her, pulling her back into his embrace. "The journey was peaceful. Nothing happened, and I'm unscathed."

Adeline let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, but her tears came even harder now.

"Harrison, please, never let something like this happen again," she sobbed. "I never want to be apart from you again."

"I promise," he whispered, gently wiping her tears away. "It will never happen again."

As Adeline's emotions began to settle, a tinge of embarrassment washed over her, and she quickly glanced around the room.

"Where is everyone else?" she asked, trying to compose herself. "Weren't they here just a moment ago?"

Harrison smiled knowingly. "Don't worry, no one saw us. It was just us here."

He had just arrived.

The living room had been occupied when he walked in.

The moment they saw him, they greeted him politely, and then, without a word, quickly dispersed.

It was clear they wanted to leave the space for him and Adeline.

He had originally intended to go upstairs to find her, but at that very moment, Adeline appeared at the foot of the stairs.

As he held her close, feeling her warmth and softness in his arms, Harrison let out a deep sigh of contentment.

Truly, he never wanted to be apart from her again.

Adeline took his hand and led him upstairs to her room. As soon as the door clicked shut, Harrison couldn't wait any longer and lowered his lips to hers.

The kiss was burning and intense, as if it carried every ounce of worry and longing from the time they had been apart.

Adeline responded, wrapping her arms around his waist and kissing him back.

At that moment, their hearts beat as one.

Their concerns and longing for each other were exactly the same.
