One night stand with my president(chapter 548)

Chapter 548:You Can Trust Me

A few of the servants couldn't help but think about telling Lorenzo what had happened.

After all, Harrison had a high standing in their eyes.

He might often wear a cold expression, giving off a distant, unapproachable vibe, but when it came to the staff, his generosity was genuine.

As long as they did their jobs well, they were rewarded with generous wages and bonuses.

So, whether for personal or professional reasons, none of them wanted Harrison to get into trouble.

But then they stopped themselves. After all, this was the Thomson family's issue, and if Lorenzo hadn't said anything, what could they, as servants, really add to the conversation?

As they whispered among themselves, someone came in and announced, "He's here."

"Who's here?" one of the servants asked, looking confused.

Someone else immediately replied, "Are you clueless? Who else could it be but him?"

It could only be the one person they didn't even know how to address anymore.

"But didn't Lorenzo say he wasn't welcome here anymore?"

"Maybe it's because of the big mess with his son. He came to check on Lorenzo."

"That makes sense. Mr. Harrison is still his son, no matter the past. After something this big happens, he's bound to be worried."

"So... should we let him see Lorenzo?"

"Let's go ask, just to be sure."

No matter what happened, they couldn't defy Lorenzo's previous order.

So, one of the servants went up to check.

When Lorenzo heard that Edward had arrived, his expression remained cold, and he didn't even look up from his book.

After a moment, he finally said, "Since he's here, let him come in."

"Yes, sir."

The servant left to deliver the message.

Soon after, Edward entered the villa.

Seeing Lorenzo calmly reading, Edward frowned, his doubts growing.

Lorenzo should not have been this calm.

"Dad," Edward called out.

Lorenzo looked up and asked, "What is it?"

Edward hesitated for a moment.

Then he responded, "Dad, what else would I be here for, if not to talk about Harrison? The Thomson Group is implicated in illegal activities, and Harrison has been taken away for investigation. Don't you know about this?"

Hearing this, Lorenzo lifted his gaze, his eyes meeting Edward's.

His expression was devoid of emotion.

But somehow, Edward felt a cold sweat trickle down his back.

"So, you do still care about Harrison," Lorenzo said, his voice almost indifferent.

Edward laughed awkwardly, saying, "How could I not care about him? Even though that kid... well, he's still my son. Of  course, I'm concerned."

"Oh? So, are you implying that Harrison owes you an apology?"

Edward quickly said, "No, that's not what I meant."

Though deep down, that was exactly what he was thinking.

But he couldn't say that in front of Lorenzo.

Lorenzo gave him a sharp glance before returning his focus to his book.

"Dad, how can you still be reading? Right now, the most important thing is figuring out what to do about Harrison, about the company."

Lorenzo finally set his book down, removed his reading glasses, and massaged his temples.

"Alright, then. What do you suggest we do?"

Edward noticed a hint of fatigue on Lorenzo's face and smirked internally. "It seems he's worried after all. He's just trying to act calm."

Of course, no matter how capable Lorenzo had been in his younger days, he was getting old.

After all these years, the family had relied so heavily on Harrison.

Now that Harrison was in trouble, it must have shaken Lorenzo to his core.

"Dad, l've heard that this situation is serious.

Harrison will likely be in prison for a few years," Edward said, looking sorrowful. "It's just so heartbreaking... such a promising kid, now facing prison. I can hardly bear to think about it."

Lorenzo remained expressionless.

Edward suddenly felt like a fool, standing there.

But now that he was here, he had no choice but to keep playing his part.

"We have to find a way to get Harrison out, but the company must be in chaos right now. I think someone needs to take charge."

"So, who do you think should take charge?"

Edward's heart leapt with hope. This was the

moment he had been waiting for.

Just as he was about to speak, Lorenzo waved his hand dismissively and said, "Forget it. You don't need to say it. I'll handle it."

Edward's anxiety spiked.

"Who else can you rely on now?"

Lorenzo smiled, a hint of irony in his expression.

"What a strange thing to say. The Thomson Group has been around for so many years. Do you honestly think Harrison is the only one who can run things? Sure, he's the most capable, but finding someone to hold things together temporarily is not that difficult."

"The higher-ups in the company, no matter how long they've been here, are still not true members of the Thomson family. As for the relatives of the Thomson family, do you really think you can trust any of them? Once they gain power, they re bound to have other thoughts." Edward grew more passionate as he spoke.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo remained calm, his composure in stark contrast to Edward's growing agitation.

"So, in the end, what you're trying to say is that you are the most suitable person to take over the Thomson Group, is that right?"

Lorenzo suddenly asked.

Edward quickly replied, "I'm not demanding it, but... right now, I'm the person you can trust most, aren't I? I'm your son, and I'm Harrison's father. Once Harrison is back, I'll naturally hand the reins back to him."

"Do you think Harrison will agree to that?"

"So what if he doesn't? He's a cornered animal now, about to face prison. I'm his father. Doesn't he trust me?"

"You think you're trustworthy?" Lorenzo sneered.

Edward was momentarily taken aback by the remark.

As Lorenzo lowered his head to pick up his teacup, clearly not intending to continue the conversation, Edward's eyes flashed with a hint of malice.

He had initially planned to just take the power from Lorenzo, which would have been much simpler.

But since Lorenzo wasn't willing to hand it over, they'd have to take it by force.

After all, he was Harrison's father.

There were plenty of things he could do more easily than others.

"Dad, I'm genuinely thinking of the Thomson family, of you, and of Harrison," Edward said sincerely. "I've made many mistakes in the past, but I'm truly willing to make amends. I hope you can see my resolve."

With that, Edward stood and turned to leave.

But just then, Lorenzo spoke again.

"You've been away from the company for so long. If you're going to return now, you'll need someone to assist you, won't you?"

Edward's heart skipped a beat.

There was hope.

He said, "Of course, Dad. Whoever you think is best to help me, just arrange it."

He couldn't outright say he wanted Frankie and Marshall to assist him.

That would have been too obvious. He couldn't afford to expose their alliance just yet.

"What about Frankie?" Lorenzo asked.
