Chapter 614: I Heard Long Ago That You're Very B..
Especially since Alberto Mendoza still couldn't forget about Connie.
If they got back together, got married, and had children, what would happen to her Pharrell? Monica gritted her teeth.
Whether it was to complete the task given to her by that man, or for the sake of her Pharrell.
She absolutely had to make Alberto Mendoza like her.
Even if it was just a fleeting infatuation, it didn't matter, as long as he would marry her.
That way, Pharrell wouldn't have to keep carrying the label of an illegitimate child.
Adeline Hensley was at home at the moment.
She had already had someone prepare a room for Monica to stay in.
She personally showed Monica the room.
"This is it. I've had someone prepare all the daily necessities. If anything is still missing, feel free to tell me anytime."
Monica quickly said, "Nothing is missing. I'm
already very grateful to be able to stay at the Mendoza house to be with Pharrell. This room is really very nice, tk you... May I call you Adeline?"
Adeline smiled and said, "Of course you can."
"Adeline, I'm new here and don't understand anything. Could you tell me, what are the house rules? I'm afraid I might accidentally do something wrong or say something inappropriate." Monica asked sincerely.
Adeline smiled and said, "Our family doesn't really have any strict rules. Don't be too nervous; just make yourself at home."
"I'm just afraid... afraid others might think I'm trying to take Miss Connie's place. I really don't mean to."
Because she and Alberto Mendoza "had a child,"
Connie left the Mendoza house, and now she had moved in. In others' eyes, wouldn't it seem like she had pushed Connie out?
Of course, she didn't actually care what others said.
But in front of Adeline Hensley, it was
appropriate to play the victim a little.
Adeline said, "You haven't taken Connie's place, and no one in the Mendoza family will gossip about you. Don't worry."
Monica forced a smile. These should be words to comfort her, but she couldn't feel happy about them.
After seeing the room, the two went downstairs together. Gracie Mendoza and Joyce Monroe were playing with and soothing Pharrell. Pharrell seemed to be in better spirits t before, his big, dark eyes looking around curiously.
"So adorable." Joyce Monroe gently poked
Pharrell's little cheek with her finger, then quickly withdrew her d. "He's so soft! Did I hurt him by poking him?"
"He's not that easily hurt," Gracie Mendoza said with a laugh. "Since you like children so much, why don't you hurry up and marry Sam Juarez and have one yourself?"
Joyce Monroe quickly waved her ds and said, "Although I like children, the thought of giving birth myself makes me feel all jittery. I always feel like I'm not ready yet."
Although Sam Juarez's family was wealthy and many things wouldn't be her concern, for her, she truly hadn't made the psychological preparation to become a mother yet.
Since she wanted to have children, she needed to be responsible for them. Since she wasn't psychologically ready yet, it was better not to have them for now.
Gracie Mendoza didn't pressure her either, just patted her d and said, "Then wait a while longer. You're both still young anyway. Having children is indeed not something to be taken lightly. Deciding after careful consideration is better for both you and the child."
"Wow, Godmother, you're so open-minded!"
Joyce Monroe said, moved. "My parents and the Senior Mr. and Mrs. Juarez are always urging us to get married and have kids quickly, saying they're waiting to enjoy their golden years with grandchildren playing around them..."
"It's normal for them to be anxious," Gracie
Mendoza said with a gentle smile. "You'll understand when you reach our age. Who isn't in a hurry to hold their grandchild? Although I don't say much, when I found out I had a grandson, ! was overjoyed inside."
"Sigh, I know they genuinely care about us. It's just that sometimes our views clash a bit."
While the two were chatting, Adeline Hensley and Monica walked over together.
Monica chatted with Gracie Mendoza about Pharrell. Joyce Monroe pulled Adeline aside and asked quietly, "She's really moving in just like that? Then what about Connie? If Connie finds out, she'll definitely be heartbroken. Will she think we don't care about her anymore?"
"She's Pharrell's mother. Forcibly separating her from Pharrell would be too cruel," Adeline said.
"I know, but..."
"Don't worry." Adeline patted her d and smiled.
"My brother has already said he won't let Connie down."
Joyce Monroe snorted and said, "Now that he has a child with another woman, what's the use of saying such things? Connie lives outside, while he and the child's mother are under the same roof... Day after day, who's to say they won't develop feelings?"
But she was ultimately an outsider. Even if she wanted to stand up for Connie, she couldn't say much, and could only murmur a few words to Adeline.
"You're overthinking it," Adeline said. "My brother, he..."
She leaned close to Joyce Monroe's ear and whispered something.
Joyce Monroe asked in surprise, "Really?"
"Of course. He told me himself."
Joyce Monroe breathed a sigh of relief.
"That's good then. It seems Mr. Mendoza really does care about Connie. That puts my mind at ease."
"What are you two talking about?"
Monica's voice suddenly sounded from behind, startling Joyce Monroe.
She turned around, saw Monica standing behind her, and forced a smile. "How did you come over so quietly?"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop on your conversation," Monica said apologetically.
"That's not what I meant either. Don't overthink it," Joyce Monroe said awkwardly, smoothing her hair.
Although her heart was with Connie, she didn't want to be verbally hostile to Monica either.
"You must be Joyce, right? I heard Auntie mention you before. I know you're Adeline's good friend," Monica said with a smile. "I heard from Auntie long ago that you're very beautiful. Seeing you today, that's indeed true."
Her words left Joyce Monroe momentarily unsure of how to respond.
Originally, Joyce Monroe hadn't planned to have much to do with Monica. But now that the other was smiling and complimenting her, she had no choice but to excge a few words with Monica.
Adeline Hensley's phone vibrated.
She glanced at the caller ID and walked from the living room outside to take the call.
"Hello?"
"Adeline." It was Harrison Thomson's voice on the other end. "The paternity test results are out."
Adeline quickly asked, "What are they?"
She had obtained another sample and had
Harrison take it to a different testing facility for another paternity test.
"The result is the same as last time," Harrison Thomson said. "It's a biological father-son relationship."
Adeline was slightly taken aback, then said, "So it seems I was overthinking it?"
"Can't say for sure yet. Even if they are biological father and son, it doesn't mean Monica doesn't have secrets."
"Mhm, that's true too."
After discussing this, Adeline asked, "When are vou coming back?"
After discussing this, Adeline asked, "When are you coming back?"
Harrison Thomson's voice held a smile.
"Miss me?"
