Chapter 601: All Scores Settled
Harrison Thomson felt utterly wronged.
"You're just looking for an excuse to blame me," he said helplessly.
"Alright, enough teasing," Adeline Hensley said, shaking his arm. "Go see Russell Hunter."
As she spoke, she pointed towards Russell Hunter's room.
"I saw it when I passed by earlier. He's in that one."
Even if Adeline hadn't said it, Harrison Thomson would have known, because several of Russell Hunter's subordinates were guarding the door, making it obvious at a glance.
Harrison Thomson's arrival at Russell Hunter's door made the subordinates tense.
"Mr. Thomson, what can we do for you?"
"I heard Russell Hunter was hospitalized. I'm here to see him," Harrison Thomson said, lifting his eyes to give them a cool look. "Is that not allowed?"
The subordinates exchanged uneasy glances.
How could they dare to tell Harrison Thomson 'no'? But they were ultimately Russell Hunter's men. One of them quickly went inside to ask for Russell Hunter's opinion.
Russell Hunter was sitting on the sofa. He seemed to have anticipated Harrison Thomson's visit, showing no surprise or change in expression upon hearing his subordinate's report.
"Please ask Mr. Thomson to come in."
"Yes."
Shortly after, Harrison Thomson walked in.
He saw Russell Hunter sitting on the sofa, idly playing with a lighter, a pack of cigarettes placed in front of him.
"He doesn't seem too seriously ill," Harrison
Thomson remarked impassively.
Russell Hunter smiled slightly and said, "It was never a big deal. I'm sorry to trouble you to make the trip, Mr. Thomson. Please, have a seat."
Harrison Thomson didn't stand on ceremony and sat down on the sofa opposite
Russell Hunter.
"Is there anything you need my help with?"
Harrison Thomson got straight to the point.
Russell Hunter's fingers, toying with the lighter, paused briefly. Then he asked, "Is this for Ms. Hensley's sake?"
He clearly knew the answer already, but he couldn't help asking.
"You helped her before," Harrison Thomson said.
"That favor needs to be repaid eventually."
Russell Hunter gave a faint smile and said, "It's not necessary. I've also done things that wronged her." He was referring to the incident where he had Victoria Holmes try to seduce Harrison Thomson. Harrison Thomson had said it back then that if it weren't for Russell Hunter having helped Adeline Hensley before, he would never have let him off so easily.”
"One thing at a time," Harrison Thomson said.
"After repaying this favor, all grievances between you, Qingli, and me will be settled. All scores settled."
Russell Hunter's body stiffened abruptly.
All scores settled? To be honest, that term felt quite cruel to him now. He would rather have unresolved entanglements with Adeline Hensley than "settle all scores" with her like this, cutting off all ties henceforth. But he knew that Harrison Thomson's words weren't just his own intention; they were also Adeline Hensley's.
"I understand," Russell Hunter said, his face showing more bitterness. "Then... thank you in advance, Mr. Thomson."
"No need for thanks," Harrison Thomson said, standing up. "Rest well. Contact me anytime when you think of something."
"Mm."
Harrison Thomson stood and was about to leave when Russell Hunter suddenly spoke again.
"Speaking of which, something just occurred to me that seems a bit strange."
"What is it?" Harrison Thomson stopped.
"My father has a trusted aide named Warren Chiang," Russell Hunter said. "Not long ago, he came to Yewhaina with Jasmine Hunter. But since last night. he's been missing.
since last night, he's been missing, completely without a trace. My men questioned Jasmine Hunter, and from what she said, Warren Chiang secretly came to the hospital last night to observe the Mendoza family's situation. After that, he never returned and didn't contact her."
Warren Chiang's loyalty to Rogelio Hunter was something even Russell Hunter was well aware of, so it was impossible for him to just abandon Jasmine Hunter and leave.
Something must have happened.
"Are you suggesting the Mendoza family captured him?" Harrison Thomson said. "If that were the case, it's impossible I wouldn't know anything about it."
"If it's not the Mendozas, then it might be related to what recently happened with the Mendoza family," Russell Hunter said. "Other than that, I can't think of why he would suddenly disappear."
Harrison Thomson's eyes darkened slightly.
The recent event with the Mendoza family... wasn't that Monica showing up with a child, claiming Alberto Mendoza was the father?
"I'Il have people look into it," Harrison Thomson said. Russell Hunter nodded. There wasn't much else for the two of them to talk about, and soon Harrison Thomson left.
After Harrison Thomson left, the phone on Russell Hunter's coffee table lit up. He looked down. The caller ID showed "Dad." A sharp pain suddenly pierced Russell Hunter's heart. In his contacts, Rogelio Hunter was still saved under that name. But if Rogelio Hunter really was the one who killed his mother... what should he do?
Russell Hunter didn't answer the call for a long time. Rogelio Hunter hung up once, then called again. This time, Russell Hunter answered but didn't speak first.
It was Rogelio Hunter who broke the silence, his voice full of caution. "Zhilin, how have you been lately?"
"Do you need something?" Russell Hunter asked.
Rogelio Hunter sounded awkward. "I just wanted to check on you, Zhilin. No matter what, we are still father and son. How can there be lasting enmity between family?"
Russell Hunter suddenly let out a cold laugh.
"That's not necessarily true."
Rogelio Hunter was taken aback. "Zhilin, what do you mean by that?"
"Some hatreds can never be let go, no matter what."
Hearing Russell Hunter's words, Rogelio Hunter's heart trembled violently. The reason he had called was that he couldn't reach Jasmine Hunter or Warren Chiang.
Both of them losing contact definitely meant something had happened.
Rogelio Hunter had also found out that Russell Hunter was currently in Yewhaina.
He was worried that Russell Hunter had captured them both.
After a moment's thought, he tentatively asked, "Are you in Yewhaina right now?"
"Yes."
"Then... have you seen your aunt over there?"
