Chapter 585: Found Her Fiancé
"Yes." Harrison Thomson's voice lowered slightly.
"It took a lot of effort, but we finally caught him."
The Yewhainan police had actually been involved in the operation with them last night.
Killer had always been a major thorn in the side of the Yewhainan police.
Now, he was finally captured.
The Yewhainan police had taken him away.
"That's good," Adeline Hensley said with a sigh of relief.
"As for his organization, some members were arrested with him, while others are still at large."
Adeline wasn't too worried about this point.
Without Killer as their leader, the remaining members of the organization were a spent force.
It wouldn't be long before they were all apprehended.
"It's a shame Yewhaina abolished the death penalty many years ago," Adeline said somberly.
Killer's crimes were too numerous to mention.
He didn't deserve to die just once.
"True, but he'll definitely get life imprisonment without parole," Harrison Thomson said. "The Yewhainan police will never let him out."
"Mm... Hurry back."
"Okay. Wait for me."
Hanging up the phone, Adeline let out a long, deep sigh of relief.
With the situation resolved on Harrison
Thomson's end, the threat on her side was also over.
She finally didn't have to worry about Killer watching her every move.
However, thinking of Benjamin Tillman, who still hadn't shown himself...
Adeline's eyes darkened.
Although she had been overwhelmed with many things recently, She had never forgotten about Benjamin Tillman, who was still on the run.
That man had not only forced her to be a substitute for someone else but also kidnapped her and trapped her in Daltoria.
She would absolutely not let Benjamin Tillman get away.
After waiting about two more hours, Harrison Thomson returned.
He truly hadn't lied to her; he was completely unharmed, just looking a bit tired.
Sonia Blackburn had a minor injury on her arm, but it wasn't serious and would heal completely in a few days.
Right now, Sonia Blackburn seemed incredibly agitated.
She grabbed Adeline's hands, speaking incoherently.
Adeline couldn't make out what she was saying at all and could only look confusedly at Harrison Thomson.
Actually, Harrison Thomson couldn't understand her either.
But he knew what Sonia Blackburn wanted to tell Adeline.
So he explained: "We found Sonia Blackburn's fiancé."
"What?" Adeline looked shocked, then happy for Sonia Blackburn. "Really? You found him? Where? Wait..."
She suddenly realized something. "Don't tell me... he was in that organization?"
Harrison Thomson nodded.
It turned out that last night, after they captured Killer and a group of his subordinates, Sonia Blackburn had spotted her fiancé among them.
But strangely, her fiancé no longer recognized her.
Nor did he recognize Memphis Shannon or his former companions.
At first, Sonia Blackburn wondered if it might not be her fiancé at all, just someone who looked very similar.
But, she knew her fiancé had a uniquely shaped birthmark on his shoulder.
And that man had an identical birthmark in the same place.
So Sonia Blackburn was certain it was him.
She just didn't know why he had lost his memory, or why he had joined Killer's organization.
But regardless, knowing her fiancé was still alive made Sonia Blackburn incredibly happy.
No wonder she was so excited she couldn't string a sentence together.
"Where is her fiancé now?" Adeline asked.
"Taken away by the police."
After all, he was a member of that organization.
The police couldn't just let him go because he was Sonia Blackburn's fiancé.
They still needed to investigate.
Sonia Blackburn initially wanted to follow and stay by her fiancé's side.
Although not a Yewhainan citizen, it was better for her not to get too close to the Yewhainan police in the end.
Last night, those who acted jointly with the police were Harrison Thomson's people and the Mendoza family's people.
Memphis Shannon's people operated separately from them.
Plus, Sonia Blackburn was exhausted after the previous night's events.
So Memphis Shannon ordered her to return and rest.
For now, people from the Mendoza family were following up on the matter with the Yewhainan police.
If anything came up, they would inform her immediately.
Now, Sonia Blackburn had finally regained her ability to form coherent sentences.
She couldn't help but hold Adeline's hands, her eyes reddening.
"I never imagined I would find him here," Sonia Blackburn said, her voice choked with emotion.
"Even though he doesn't remember me now, just knowing he's alive, that he's okay... that makes me so happy. Truly."
"I understand," Adeline said, patting her hand.
However, Adeline felt a faint sense of worry.
Sonia Blackburn's fiancé had been in that organization.
If he had participated in any of the organization's violent activities...
But then again, Sonia Blackburn's fiancé had gone missing only six months ago.
So the maximum time he could have been in the organization was less than six months.
Perhaps during this time, he hadn't been involved in the organization's crimes. It was possible.
As it turned out, Adeline's speculation was
correct.
According to statements from other organization members, Sonia Blackburn's fiancé had been brought into the organization by Killer just two months ago.
During these two months, he had only been familiarizing himself with the organization and hadn't participated in any of its criminal activities.
Last night was his first time joining an operation.
This was also because many organization members had been arrested recently, leaving them short-handed.
So they brought him along.
But this man knew nothing about his past.
He only knew that before meeting Killer, he had been taken in by an old man in Yewhaina.
This old man said he had found him on the beach six months ago.
He was unconscious at the time, with many wounds on his body.
The old man took him home, treated his injuries, and, seeing his pitiful state, let him stay for a few months.
Two months ago, Killer encountered him,* discovered his capabilities, paid the old man a sum of money, and took him away.
Initially, he had been deceived by Killer.
He didn't know this organization would commit any evil deed for money.
He only realized it after joining.
But by then, it was too late to extricate himself.
After the Yewhainan police verified that this man was indeed a new member of the organization and hadn't participated in any crimes, they released him early, taking into account the Mendoza family's influence.
After getting the news, Memphis
Shannon and Sonia Blackburn left the Mendoza estate to meet him halfway.
But to him now, both Memphis Shannon and Sonia Blackburn were strangers.
Seeing the wariness in his eyes, Sonia Blackburn's heart ached-that was undeniable.
But her overwhelming feeling was joy that he was still alive.
She believed that as long as she stayed by his side from now on, he would eventually remember her, remember Memphis Shannon, and recall everything from his past.
Meanwhile, the Yewhainan police contacted
Adeline Hensley again.
Because Killer wanted to see her.
