One night stand with my president(chapter 574)

Chapter 574: Who Will Be the Winner?

Catherine's words hung in the air, and as soon as they left her lips, she saw Killer's cold gaze fall on her.

Despite knowing her place in his life, the sight still pierced her heart.

She had always been there for him, but what did she really mean to him?

"If I remember correctly, l've already told you to leave." Killer's voice was icy.

The pain from Catherine's wound flared up again.

She winced, but kept her resolve, replying, "I'm not leaving."

Others had already conveyed Killer's message to her.

She was to go home.

But Catherine couldn't bring herself to leave.

If Killer were in a peaceful, safe place, maybe she would have agreed to leave.

But with his current situation, she wasn't about to abandon him.

"You leaving or staying makes no difference. My affairs are not for you to comment on," Killer said, his tone dismissive.

He glanced at his phone as it lit up.

After a moment of silent reading, his expression darkened.

Then, his fingers tightened around the device, and a sinister smile curled on his lips.

"Harrison... you really are something."

In the short time since their last confrontation, Harrison had already destroyed several of his key strongholds, nearly obliterating half of his intelligence network.

Though Catherine didn't know the full extent of what had happened, she could sense that it was nothing good by the dark look on Killer's face.

She bit her lip.

She knew it was pointless to keep trying to talk sense into him.

If Killer was still determined to push forward, no amount of persuasion would stop him.

At this point, he didn't even seem to care about retreating.

After a pause, Catherine spoke, "Sir, if you're really planning to go on, you should release Joel. You know his fighting capabilities. If he's with us, things would be much easier."

"I've never planned to lock him up," Killer replied coldly. "It's his own fault."

Catherine continued, "His brother is dead, and with his emotional state, it's inevitable that he'll want to take action. But if you're still willing to use him, I'll go talk to him. He'll listen to me."

Killer went silent for a moment, then said,

"Go ahead."

Joel's fighting abilities were undeniable.

If Killer had wanted to eliminate him, he would've done so already, especially after Joel tried to assassinate him.

But for now, Joel was kept alive. Killer still thought he could find use for him in the future.

"I'll do that," Catherine said, turning to leave.

Before she left, Killer turned to his subordinates and spoke in a low, commanding voice. "I'll give you a chance to redeem yourselves."

The men quickly responded, "We'll handle it, boss. We'll make sure it's done right."

"We need to focus on Harrison and Adeline.

While they're in Yewhaina, we know there are still people they care about in their home country. If we can't get to them there, we'll have to strike from another angle." Killer's voice was like ice.

The men nodded, immediately understanding his intent.

One of them spoke up, hesitating, "But the Thomson family has a lot of power there. If we go after them..."

"Harrison's attention is on Yewhaina," Killer smirked. "That's the perfect opportunity.

He'll be distracted, and there will be a gap in his defenses. We can't get to the Thomson family, so we'll go after what Adeline cares about. I remember her file. She has a relative, an... aunt, wasn't it?"

"Yes, we understand."

"And," Killer added, "inform the remaining outposts. They need to relocate."

"Relocate all of them?" the men asked, shocked.

"But many of those were set up with great effort...

"If we don't, they'll be destroyed. And we'll lose even more," Killer replied, his tone cold and final.

"Yes," the man said.

Killer shot a glance at the woman beside him.

The brunette beauty stepped forward, understanding his command. She grabbed more ice and poured him another drink.

Killer took the glass, swirling it slowly, staring at the ice.

"Could I have underestimated Harrison?"

Killer muttered to himself, his fingers tightening around the glass. "Ever since I started this organization, l've never been unsure, but now... I can feel it. Something's off."

He couldn't admit it, but deep down, he knew his nerves were fraying.

Yet, his obsession, his madness, wouldn't let him back down now.

He was prepared to sacrifice everything, even if it led to ruin.

"Until the end, no one can say for sure who the winner will be, can they?" Killer thought.

Joel was confined to a small, dimly lit room, the only light coming from a small window.

It was a bleak place where many lost their sanity after just a few days.

Catherine entered, her steps cautious.

Joel looked up as he heard her approach.

Katherine saw his eyes blazing red and his face rough with stubble, a far cry from the sharp, well-groomed Joel she once knew.

This worn, broken version of him was something entirely new.

She understood that Krauss's death had hit him hard.

Though they always butted heads, deep down, Joel truly cared about Krauss.

"What do you want?" His voice was hoarse.

"Go away."

Catherine noticed the untouched food beside him.

She said, "Why are you doing this? If you keep going like this, you'll die before you ever avenge Krauss."

Joel let out a bitter laugh. "If it weren't for you, I would have already avenged my brother."

"Don't be foolish." Catherine's voice was firm.

"Even without me, you couldn't kill the boss."

"Nonsense!" Joel shouted, his face contorting in anger.

"Calm down." Catherine raised her hand, signaling him to listen. "The truth is, even if you killed the boss, it wouldn't bring Krauss back. Do you really think he was the one who caused your brother's death?"

A look of pain crossed Joel's face. He clenched his fists. "You don't understand... Get out! I don't want to hear it."

"If anyone else tells you this, you can ignore it.

But when I say it, you need to listen." Catherine's voice was unwavering. "You know how Krauss felt about me."

Joel's gaze flickered.

He looked up at her, realizing the truth in her words.

Yes, Krauss had always liked her. He had always known.

But Catherine had only ever had feelings for Killer.

Krauss had merely loved her from afar.

Still, Catherine was the one person who had been in Krauss's heart. If Krauss could speak to him now, he would have told Joel to take care of her.
