Chapter 568: Make Them Tell the Truth
"Admire you?" Adeline tilted her head, her eyes filled with confusion. "Why would he admire you?"
Harrison pinched her cheek, pretending to be upset. "What, am I not worthy of admiration?"
"Oh, that's not what I meant," Adeline said, shaking his hand. "I just feel like you two aren't even from the same world. How could he possibly admire you?"
"Years ago, I helped him out once while I was overseas. After that, he challenged me to a duel."
Harrison paused for a moment, then said, "After the duel, he was completely convinced and started to admire me."
As for the details, he decided not to share them with Adeline.
After all, it had been brutal.
Adeline more or less understood.
She guessed that Memphis must admire people stronger than himself.
It seemed he was a man of character.
"Alright," Harrison said as he shrugged off his coat. "Let's not talk about Memphis right now."
He casually tugged at his collar, a move so simple yet somehow charged with a hint of desire.
Adeline couldn't help but swallow, her heart racing.
Harrison seemed to read her thoughts with ease.
He smiled and pulled her into his arms, whispering in her ear, "Shall we take a shower?"
"You go first," Adeline blushed and pushed him away.
"Why waste time? Let's just do it together."
Just as the two of them were in their own world, a knock suddenly came at the door.
Adeline saw Harrison's eyes darken instantly.
She couldn't help but chuckle softly and asked, "Who is it?"
". Thomson, Miss Hensley," came the voice of
one of Harrison's men from outside.
"What's going on?" Harrison's voice turned cold.
"We've caught two people with suspicious behavior outside. They're in the yard now," the man reported.
Harrison and Adeline exchanged a glance.
Two suspicious people near the Mendoza family?
It was likely that they were from that organization.
This was serious business.
The two of them immediately snapped back to full alertness and headed toward the door.
"Wait," Adeline quickly stopped Harrison. "Your coat."
She grabbed the coat he had just taken off and handed it to him.
The night air was still chilly, and while Harrison was in excellent health, Adeline didn't want to risk him falling ill at this crucial moment.
Harrison was about to say he was fine, but
seeing the determination in Adeline's eyes, he obediently put it on.
Together, they walked out into the yard.
Sure enough, two men were crouched there, both wearing black clothes. They didn't look scared, but the sweat on their foreheads betrayed their anxiety.
When they saw Adeline, their eyes flickered, but Harrison stepped in front of them.
His powerful presence made the two men lower their heads immediately.
"Who sent you?" Harrison demanded.
The two men remained silent, not looking up.
"Still silent?" Harrison sneered. "You really are loyal to Killer, huh?" The men stayed quiet.
Adeline stepped forward, "So, you really are Killer's people, right?"
The police had given the boss of the organization the codename "Killer," and both Harrison and knew this well.
Finally, one of the men spoke.
"We don't know anyone named Killer," he said.
"We were just passing through here. We don't understand why you've brought us in. Just because you're rich and powerful doesn't mean you can treat us like this."
Before he could finish, one of the bodyguards kicked him hard in the stomach. "Stop playing games."
They weren't so clueless that they couldn't tell the difference between ordinary people and suspicious ones.
The man was knocked to the ground, gritting his teeth in pain, but didn't make a sound.
The other man just glanced at him, offering no further reaction.
If they were truly just ordinary passersby, they'd likely be terrified by now.
At this moment, footsteps echoed, and everyone turned to see Memphis walking toward them.
He took one look and quickly assessed the situation.
Without expression, he said to Harrison, "Mr.
Thomson, leave this to me. You've had a lot to deal with. I'll make them talk by tomorrow morning."
Harrison thought for a moment before responding, "Thanks, Memphis. I appreciate it."
"It's my honor," Memphis said as he immediately ordered his men to take the two prisoners away.
The men, realizing they had no more room to argue, were dragged off in silence, their faces ashen.
Harrison, holding Adeline's hand, started walking back toward the house.
"Memphis is great at interrogating. These two won't last until tomorrow morning. They'll spill everything they know," Harrison said.
"But," Adeline said, "these guys were probably not the top-tier people from Killer's organization.
I'm guessing they don't know much."
"It's fine," Harrison replied. "We didn't expect to get much from them anyway. As for Killer, in less than half a month, I'll make him show his face."
Harrison spoke with such confidence that Adeline couldn't help but believe him. She knew he had the power to make it happen.
"Oh, there's something I almost forgot to tell you," Harrison said. "We've found Kyson's sister."
Adeline thought back to Kyson, the one who had plotted against her and sent her to the hotel to seduce Harrison.
His sister had been sent abroad, and he refused to tell the mastermind's identity because he was afraid for her safety.
Now, they had found Kyson's sister.
"The mastermind hid Tia in a very remote, small country," Harrison said. "Her depression hasn't been treated and has actually worsened."
"Because the mastermind didn't let her receive proper treatment, right?" Adeline asked.
"Exactly," Harrison said. "A sly, underhanded person like that could never care about her condition. He just had her watched to keep her as leverage for future use."
"So, what's her condition now?"
Although Adeline didn't know Tia and hated Kyson, she still felt sympathy for what the girl had gone through.
"I had people rescue her from the people guarding her and get her to a legitimate hospital in a nearby country," Harrison explained. "Her condition is still not great, but with proper treatment, she'll be fine."
