One night stand with my president(chapter 559)

Chapter 559: A Quick Transfer

It could only mean one thing: the man on the floor, taking the beating, was the one who had exposed them.

After all, the boss had given him the watch.

Ever since he received the watch, he had worn it everywhere, drawing attention to himself.

Catherine had told him that while it was fine to wear it casually, whenever they had important business, he had to remove it.

After all, the watch was a limited edition, with only two pieces in the world.

It was bound to be traced.

She never thought he would break his promise and wear the watch when kidnapping Gracie.

At first, this man had refused to admit it.

But after the boss pressed him, he couldn't hold it in any longer and confessed everything.

He explained that when he went to kidnap Gracie, he had planned to take off the watch, but he had forgotten in the heat of the moment.

Then, he had even stopped to buy a bottle of coffee.

The night before the mission, he had trouble sleeping and was running on fumes, so he thought the coffee would help him stay alert.

He hadn't realized that the watch would give them away.

The boss didn't say much when he found out.

He just had the man beaten..

Now, the man was lying on the floor, barely conscious.

Catherine dared not breathe a word.

"Boss, please forgive me..." the man gasped, struggling to speak as he lay in agony.

He knew all too well the boss's methods.

At this point, he was certain his life was at risk.

After all, if even Krauss had been punished so severely, what chance did he have?

Sitting on the couch, the boss, Killer, remained as impassive as ever.

No one knew his real name, but the police in Yewhaina had given him a codename: Killer.

As the man begged, Killer remained unmoved.

He lit a cigar, took a drag, and then calmly spoke, "Because of you, we've caused this much trouble.  What do you think should be done about it?"

The man trembled, his mouth dry.

He cast a desperate glance at Catherine, but she, too, was far from safe.

She had no room to help him.

Just then, Joel entered, supporting a limping Krauss.

Krauss was still wrapped in thick bandages.

He glanced at the man lying on the floor, coughing twice before speaking.

"Boss, this isn't the time for this," he said.

"We've probably already been exposed.

What we need to do now is move quickly, especially with Mrs. Mendoza. If she's rescued, we'll have nothing left to bargain with."

Killer took another drag from his cigar, his expression cold. "I never thought this place would be exposed."

Catherine remained silent, her body trembling.

If the place had truly been compromised, it could only be because of her.

The Mendoza family had undoubtedly traced her movements.

She hadn't taken precautions when she arrived.

She had come here without hiding her identity, and the surveillance footage had likely captured her everywhere.

They knew she had come to the mountain; it was only a matter of time...

Her anxiety overwhelmed her, and she collapsed to her knees in front of Killer.

"Boss, please forgive me," Catherine sobbed, tears streaming down her face. "I just wanted to bring you the watch... I never thought things would end up like this... "

She had everything she could want in Lubrea-wealth, status, followers.

She could snap her fingers, and people would fall to their knees for her.

But none of that mattered when she fell for the man in front of her.

She remembered it clearly.

The first time she saw him, she was immediately captivated by him.

She followed him without hesitation, coming to Yewhaina, bringing only her skills in computers.

She had no physical strength, but her tech expertise made her valuable to Killer.

With her family connections, her status within the organization grew.

Eventually, she found herself at Killer's side, and sometimes, she would catch him smiling at her.

But she knew that smile wasn't real.

It was indifferent, even mocking.

He didn't love her.

All her efforts had meant nothing to him.

Now, she wondered, "Would he turn on me, too, just like he has with the man on the floor?"

Catherine couldn't bring herself to think of it.

Killer, smoking his cigar, said nothing and didn't even glance at her.

Krauss spoke up again, "Boss, Catherine..."

He stopped abruptly, realizing that if he kept speaking on her behalf, it would only make things worse for her.

Joel, frustrated by the tension, interjected,

"What are you all so worried about? If the place is exposed, so what? We'll kill as many as they send our way."

The bloodthirsty gleam in Joel's eyes was unmistakable.

It was clear he was relishing the thought.

Krauss shot him a glare, but Joel didn't seem to notice, caught up in his excitement.

Catherine wiped her tears, her voice shaking as she pleaded, "Boss, I won't make this mistake again. Please forgive me. But can you leave now? Please, go somewhere safe... I'm worried about..."

The truth was, even now, she cared more about Killer's safety than her own.

But Killer showed no sign of fear.

He had built such a powerful organization, and his composure was unmatched.

He didn't respond to Catherine because he was already calculating their next

move.

They had just received news about the Mendoza family's investigation.

It had been several hours since they started checking the watch and tracing Catherine, and now it seemed the Mendoza family was already closing in on them.

They were just waiting for the right moment to strike.

"Get people to patrol the area around the

mountain immediately," Killer ordered.

"Report anything unusual, quickly."

"Yes, Boss."

Catherine quickly wiped away the tears, rising to leave.

"Boss..." Krauss's expression shifted, his voice low, "Do you mean we might already be trapped?"

"Yes," Killer responded grimly.

It was clear that escaping was no longer an option.

A fierce battle was inevitable.

"Boss, we still have Mrs. Mendoza," Joel said, his tone cold. "We can use her to threaten the .Mendoza family. They've gone through all this trouble for her. They won't want to see her harmed."

Killer's response was ice-cold. "I promised

Adeline I wouldn't harm her mother within three days. The deadline hasn't passed yet."
