Chapter 526:  Start Making Plans

Frankie stared at him, stunned. "Chess? You've been playing all this time?"

A cold gust of wind passed by, making Marshall shiver, his mind clearing a little.

"Let's go back and talk," he said, his voice low and steady.

Frankie also realized this wasn't the best place for a conversation. He was afraid that someone was lurking nearby, waiting to overhear their discussion and report back to Lorenzo.

Back at the house, Frankie immediately had someone pour Marshall a cup of hot water.

After drinking it, Marshall was almost back to normal.

He coldly muttered, "I don't know what game he's playing. He dragged me into chess until this late. But he never asked me to play with him before. What's his sudden obsession?"

Now that they were back in their own space, Marshall felt more at ease and spoke freely.

Frankie's face darkened. "Do you think he's caught on to something? Is he trying to test you? What did he say to you?"

Marshall replayed the conversation in his mind and then shared everything Lorenzo had said.

"Do you think he's probing you?" Frankie frowned. "It's good that you stayed calm. If you'd told him you were planning to join the company, no one knows what he would've done to you."

They weren't exactly family. There was no blood relation between them.

Could Lorenzo really care about them? Probably not.

"But if he really knows something, why would he let me go? And why are we still here, acting like nothing's wrong?"

Frankie was just as puzzled.

If Lorenzo really knew their plan, he would have kicked them out by now. Instead, he just kept Marshall playing chess with him for hours... It was strange. He didn't think Lorenzo was the type to show such mercy.

After all, they were plotting against his pride and joy-Harrison.

Could he really tolerate that?

Marshall thought for a moment and said, "Maybe he just suspects something, but hasn't confirmed it yet. Either way, he can't act on suspicion alone. That would be an insult to my late grandfather."

Frankie nodded, feeling that Marshall's reasoning made sense.

"So, he's probably just trying to warn you," Frankie said. "Trying to tell you not to do anything foolish."

"Foolish?" Marshall gritted his teeth.

"What's foolish? What's right and wrong? We've been patient for years, and now we finally have such a good opportunity... Dad, I'm not backing down. This is the moment, and we'll go all in."

Frankie agreed completely.

Back down? After all their years of patience and careful planning? That was impossible.

Now that Edward had practically handed them the opportunity, they had no choice but to seize it.

"But, since Lorenzo's starting to suspect us, we need to speed up our plans."

Without Jamarion's constraints, Callan began to make his move.

He desperately tried to find ways to see Joyce.

However, the Juarez family guarded him tightly, leaving him no chance to sneak in.

The best he could do was watch Joyce from a distance.

He couldn't even say a word to her.

Jamarion's loyal subordinates were keeping tight control over most of his power.

For the time being, Callan had no way of getting his hands on it.

Though he had a few people working for him, they were nowhere near a match for the Juarez family.

Joyce ignored him.

Tomorrow was the weekend, and she would be heading to Yewhaina with Adeline.

If Callan dared to follow them, the Mendoza family would teach him a lesson.

Because they were leaving for Yewhaina, Adeline took Alondra back to the Thomson villa that evening.

She didn't tell Alondra she was going to Yewhaina.

Alondra would definitely want to come with her.

In Alondra's mind, her mother was in Yewhaina right now.

But some things still hadn't been cleared up.

It was better not to take Alondra to Yewhaina, and Lorenzo certainly wouldn't approve.

After dinner at the Thomson villa, Adeline left.

Alondra was reluctant to leave Adeline, but she didn't insist.

She was a sensible child, understanding that Adeline had her own responsibilities and couldn't always be by her side.

Just spending a few days with Adeline was enough for her.

A driver was waiting for Adeline at the gate.

As she walked towards the gate, she suddenly heard someone call her name. "Miss Hensley."

She turned around.

It was Marshall.

A strange look flashed in Adeline's eyes, but she quickly regained her composure.

"Good evening, Mr. Marshall."

"Good evening, Miss Hensley."

Marshall walked up to her, glanced behind her, and asked, "Didn't Harrison come back with you?"

Adeline smiled. "He's been busy lately."

"Oh, right. I've heard he's been really busy. I heard there's a problem with one of the new projects at the Thomson Group."

"Is that so?" Adeline said, "He hasn't mentioned it. I've been spending time with Alondra, not at the company."

"Maybe Harrison doesn't want to worry you," Marshall said. "But the problem seems to be serious."

Adeline raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Marshall, you seem to know a lot about the company's affairs."

"Well, I'm part of the Thomson family. It's natural to care about the family business," Marshall replied without changing his expression. "And several of my friends have called me about this issue. To be honest, I'm concerned too."

"Don't worry," Adeline said. "I believe in

Harrison's ability. No matter the situation, he'll find a way to solve it."

Marshall watched her for a while, then smiled.

"It's good that you trust Harrison. But you should make some plans for yourself."

"Oh? Thank you for the reminder.

Everyone should plan for their own future."

Adeline nodded, then turned and walked away.

Marshall watched her leave, his face darkening.

He thought, "What's she playing at? She's going to Yewhaina tomorrow. Maybe she was worried that Harrison would drag her down. So she's hurrying back to the Mendoza family."

As long as Adeline didn't interfere with Harrison, he didn't care.

But if she persuaded the Mendoza family to step in and help him, that would be a problem.

He'd just tested her, but Adeline's response left him confused.

The next morning, Adeline and Joyce boarded the plane heading to Yewhaina.

They were flying on Harrison's private jet. The Mendoza family had offered to send a jet, but Adeline had declined the hassle and opted to use Harrison's.

Wrapped in a blanket, she curled up on the couch, catching up on some sleep.

They would be apart for a while. Last night, Harrison kept her awake the whole time.

Even this morning, he hadn't let her off the hook.

Her legs were still sore from it all.

The flight attendant brought over two glasses of juice and some snacks before quietly retreating.

Joyce flipped through a magazine, then got bored and picked up the newspaper.

Suddenly, she spotted the headlines.
