One night stand with my president(Chapter 492)

Chapter 492: Dirty Tricks

If she threw Russell under the bus, maybe Harrison would hesitate to do anything to her.

After all, he might not want to mess with Russell.

But would Russell hold it against her later?

Tessa's mind was a complete mess, but in the end, survival instincts kicked in. She'd deal with Russell later.

"It was... it was Mr. Hunter. He sent me," Tessa stammered, forcing out the words.

After all, she and Russell were family.

Even if Russell found out, it probably wouldn't get her in real trouble.

"Russell, huh?" Harrison let out a cold, mocking laugh.

"Yes," Tessa nodded, voice trembling.

Harrison didn't waste another second on her.

He turned and walked away without a backward glance.

"Mr. Thomson! Mr. Thomson!" Tessa screamed desperately, but her cries couldn't

even make him pause.

It didn't take long for Harrison's people to dig up everything about her.

"She really is a distant relative of Russell," Rowen reported from the curb, speaking to Harrison in the back seat. "And it looks like Russell arranged for her to walk in the show tonight."

Harrison's expression stayed icy.

Russell had always been his rival, but once upon a time, Harrison had actually respected the guy.

Now, seeing the path Russell had chosen, he only felt disgust.

He thought of those photos he'd received not long ago.

Harrison's fingers clenched tight.

"There's more," Rowen continued. "We had the spray analyzed. It's a foreign drug, banned in Orianto, and causes hallucinations. She was planning to use it on you..."

Rowen didn't finish, but Harrison understood.

A look of utter revulsion flashed in his eyes.

Just as dirty as Kaylie's tricks back in the day.

"In that case, hand her over to the police," Harrison said coldly.

"Yes, sir."

The window rolled up. Harrison didn't tell the driver to leave right away. Instead, he pulled out his phone and dialed Adeline.

Meanwhile, Adeline had had enough of Russell for one day.

She planned to stop by the main hall to pick up a few good luck charms.

As she turned to leave, Russell reached out to grab her wrist, but she slipped away, putting more distance between them.

Russell noticed the shadows moving nearby.

They were her bodyguards, no doubt.

He let out a bitter laugh.

In Adeline's eyes, he really was the enemy now.

"Where are you going?" Russell asked.

"Do I need your permission to go anywhere?"

Adeline shot back. "Or are you planning to restrict my freedom, too?"

Russell froze, caught off guard.

"That's not what I meant," he tried to explain.

He just wanted a little more time with her, that was all.

"If that's not your intention, then don't try to stop me."

Adeline was about to turn away when her phone rang.

She checked the caller ID, and her expression immediately softened-a detail that didn't escape Russell.

Watching her, he felt a sharp pang in his chest.

He thought, "Is it Harrison calling? Is that why she suddenly looks so gentle?"

"Hello?" Adeline answered.

On the other end, Harrison faked a couple of

coughs before asking, "Who are you with right now?"

His tone was strangely flat, lacking any warmth.

Something felt off to Adeline.

She glanced at Russell and thought, "Did Harrison somehow know I'm with Russell? How? And why did Harrison sound so strange...?"

She didn't answer directly. Instead, she asked, "What's with this sudden question?"

Harrison let out a cold laugh. "So you really are with Russell.

The accusation made Adeline bristle with irritation, but she forced herself to stay calm.

Something was off.

In the past, Harrison would've gotten jealous or upset.

But now, after everything they'd discussed, he'd at least ask for an explanation before losing his temper.

Besides, he knew why she'd come to Aurgville.

They'd just agreed to keep things low-key for now to see what the people behind the scenes would do.

And right after she picked up, he'd coughed, almost like he was trying to send her a message.

Adeline's eyes flickered with realization. She thought, "It's all an act. Time to play along."

"What's that supposed to mean?" she snapped, raising her voice. "Are you accusing me of something?"

"Shouldn't I be?" Harrison replied. "Tell me, did you come to Aurgville because of Russell?"

"You're out of your mind."

"Maybe I am, but only because you drove me there!"

Adeline almost laughed.

She never thought Harrison could be this dramatic on purpose.

If he was really angry, he'd never say things like that.

"If that's what you want to believe, there's nothing I can do," she huffed and hung up.

Right after, she checked her phone.

Harrison had sent her two memes of a man apologizing..

She stifled a smile, forced herself to frown, and kept up the act.

At that moment, Russell asked, "Did you two just have a fight?"

He didn't sound happy.

If anything, he sounded puzzled.

The reason for their argument wasn't quite what hed expected.

"That's right. You happy now?" Adeline shot back coldly. "Are you the one who told Harrison I was here with you?"

Russell frowned. "No, I didn't."

He had sent someone to bait Harrison, sure, but he'd never intended to twist things and tell Harrison about Adeline meeting him.

That would make Adeline look bad, and even if he wanted to ruin someone, it would only be Harrison, never her.

"If you didn't tell him, then how did he know?" Adeline stared at him, searching his face for any sign of a lie.

Russell seemed genuinely baffled.

So, there must be someone else involved.

"I don't know," Russell admitted, his expression turning grim.

Adeline let out a cold laugh and turned to leave.

Russell followed silently behind her.

She didn't tell him to stay or go, just completely ignored him.

She still had to get her lucky charms.

After picking them up, she turned and saw Russell still waiting for her, looking for all the world like a guilty child caught in the act.

"Believe me," he said quietly. "I really didn't tell Harrison you were meeting me."
