One night stand with my president(chapter 527)

Chapter 527:  You've Changed

"What's wrong?" Adeline instinctively asked.

"Look here," Joyce said, handing Adeline the newspaper.

Adeline sat up, sipping her juice as she leaned in to see what Joyce was pointing at.

As she looked closer, surprise flickered in her eyes.

The article on the page reported a woman's arrest for theft.

It read, "A Ms. Snider had gone to a supermarket, and while the owner was away from the cash register, she took money from the counter and was caught red-handed by the owner."

The paper didn't print a clear photo of the thief, just a blurry side profile.

Adeline stared at it and felt that the woman looked familiar. It seemed to be Jasmine.

Joyce had heard Adeline mention Jasmine before and knew what she looked like.

She had thought the woman in the article resembled Jasmine, which was why she showed it to Adeline.

Conveniently, the thief's last name was "Snider."

"Could it really be Jasmine?" Joyce said in disbelief. "But she's Mrs. Hunter... How could she end up stealing from a supermarket?"

Adeline thought the same.

But after considering it more deeply, she remembered how badly Russell had been pressuring Jasmine.

Then, she'd gotten on Harrison's bad side.

If Russell had been hard on her, Harrison's interference would've crushed her completely.

Jasmine had been playing dirty, trying to sabotage them, even after Russell had already taken her down.

She had paid people to follow Adeline and Russell, sending the photos to Harrison to drive a wedge between them.

Harrison wasn't the kind to show mercy.

Jasmine had been pushed to the brink. At this point, she would do anything.

The woman in the article was indeed Jasmine.

She had been locked up in the detention center.

Gone was the image of the elegant lady she used to be. Now, she looked haggard, her hair a mess, her clothes disheveled.

There was no way around it-before entering the detention center, she could barely even eat.

What else could she care about?

Harrison was ruthless, but so was Russell.

Together, they had driven her to the edge.

But honestly, they hadn't even done anything overt.

She had no grounds to sue.

In fact, the landlord of the apartment she had rented would rather breach the contract than let her stay. When she tried to check into a hotel, they refused to let her in.

In the end, she was forced to spend a large sum on a seedy motel.

Once all her money ran out, she couldn't get in touch with Rogelio, and the friends who had once helped her suddenly avoided her completely.

Jasmine was stunned by the sudden change.

Without money, the motel wouldn't let her stay and kicked her out immediately.

On her first night, she slept under a bridge.

And then came the hunger.

With no money, what could she eat?

Honestly, she did think about finding a job.

But when survival was at stake, there was nothing she could do. She had to find a job that would offer food and a place to stay, just to get by.

But Jasmine couldn't find any job..

Not a single job would take her in.

Harrison and Russell were clearly pushing her to the edge.

But there was nothing she could do.

After her last failed attempt to contact Rogelio, Jasmine was on the brink of losing her mind.

Seeing a small convenience store on the side of the road, she got a dark idea.

She walked in, pretending to browse, but just waiting for an opportunity.

By chance, the owner went to restock the shelves, and there was no one else around.

Jasmine rushed to the counter, hoping to grab some cash.

But to her dismay, the store owner caught her red-handed.

She tried to run, but she was already weak from hunger. After only a few steps, the store owner caught up with her.

The owner called the police.

The store had cameras, and when the police arrived and reviewed the footage, everything became clear.

And so, Jasmine was taken to the detention center.

Soon, she'd likely be sentenced for theft.

After all, this was the perfect opportunity to deal with her, and Harrison and Russell wouldn't miss it.

Her only hope now was to find Rogelio.

She hoped he would come to her rescue.

Just then, someone outside said to her, "Come out, someone is here to see you."

Jasmine's heart leapt with joy. When she saw Rogelio, her excitement was visible.

"You came to bail me out, right?" she exclaimed, unable to hide her excitement, not noticing Rogelio's troubled expression.

"You..." Rogelio looked at her, his voice filled with disbelief. "What happened to you?"

Jasmine couldn't care less about his question.

She pleaded, "Honey, please get me out of here. I don't want to stay in the detention center."

Rogelio's eyes were filled with complexity.

In the past, Jasmine had always been well-

groomed and graceful.

Naturally, he had been deeply fond of her.

But now, the Jasmine before him seemed like a madwoman.

He couldn't help but feel a sense of loss.

Yet, they had lived together for over a decade, and there were still feelings there.

Seeing her like this, he felt distressed.

But there was nothing he could do.

"Honey, what's wrong? Say something!"

Rogelio sighed and said, "How could you resort to stealing?"

Jasmine froze for a moment, then responded, "Are you blaming me? Don't you know Russell has been targeting me? I could barely survive before, and now, even Harrison wants to get rid of me. What am I supposed to do? I have nowhere to go, and I can't even afford to eat. And you're not helping me. Am I supposed to ctarve tn death?"

"It's not that I'm not helping you, it's... You just said Harrison wants to get rid of you. Why? What happened?"

Jasmine's gaze faltered.

She couldn't admit that she had made a move to get Adeline followed, secretly taking photos of her and Russell in an attempt to drive a wedge between her and Harrison.

At the time, she thought it was a brilliant plan.

If she could succeed in stirring things up,

Harrison would go after Russell, and then Russell would have no time to target her.

And if Adeline and Russell really got together, maybe she could go to Adeline for help.

But now, she realized it wasn't that easy to manipulate.

If Rogelio found out, he would definitely scold her for being foolish.

"How would I know? We can't win against

Harrison. He'll do whatever he wants with me. Honey, stop asking so many questions. I'm really suffering. Can you just find a way to get me out of here?"

Rogelio gave a bitter smile. "I... I can't."

Jasmine immediately panicked. "What do you mean you can't? You don't want to save me? Don't you remember our unborn child? You said we could have more kids. Don't you want to have a child with me?"
