Chapter 535:  Harrison Is Quite the Romantic

"Oh, dear. Finally," Frankie sighed with a cryptic smile. "Where did you go?"

"I didn't go anywhere," Edward replied as he poured himself some coffee. "I just woke up a bit late this morning."

"Really?" Frankie's smile gradually faded.

"Weren't you at the Thomson Group to check on your son?"

Edward, holding his coffee cup, froze for a moment at her words.

"You had someone follow me?" he said coldly, narrowing his eyes at Frankie.

Frankie didn't respond immediately. He casually scooped a pastry with the serving fork and placed it on the plate in front of Edward. Only then did he speak. "Don't blame me. After all, we're planning something big, and I'm just being cautious. Besides, Harrison is your son."

Edward sneered. "So what? I promised to cooperate with you, and I won't be held back by any father-son sentiment. Besides, Harrison doesn't care much about me, does he?"

Frankie didn't speak.

Of course Harrison cared about him. He just didn't know.

Even Frankie could tell that Edward was being rather heartless.

Frankie remembered how upset Harrison had been when he thought Edward had died.

Even Frankie, who didn't have much of a relationship with Edward, could see that.

Edward had no right to criticize Harrison.

He was the one who had wronged his family first.

But of course, Frankie didn't say any of this to Edward.

To him, the worse the relationship between Edward and Harrison, the better.

"We need to speed up the progress," Frankie said. "Lorenzo might have caught on to something already."

Edward frowned. "How do you know?"

"That night, in the middle of the night,

Lorenzo called Marshall over to play chess and said some strange things," Frankie explained. "It doesn't make sense. Lorenzo's so old. Does he still have such a strong chess addiction that he'd play until 2 a.m.?"

Edward's expression turned serious.

He knew how powerful Lorenzo was.

What they were doing now, though secretive, wasn't something Lorenzo wouldn't notice eventually. If they were to hear that Lorenzo already knew, it wouldn't be surprising...

Frankie's eyes flashed with a trace of disdain when he saw Edward keep silent.

"So this scares you?" he asked. "Frankly, with this attitude, I doubt you'll accomplish anything."

Edward immediately snapped back, "I'm not."

He paused and then added, "I'm just... feeling guilty."

Frankie scoffed, not buying his excuse.

Edward was a selfish man.

When he faked his death and left, he didn't feel guilty toward Lorenzo.

Now suddenly, he felt guilty.

It was clear that he was just scared.

"I've thought of a plan," Frankie said. "As I know, Miss Hensley is currently in Yewhaina."

Edward stiffened at the mention of Yewhaina.

But he forced himself to calm down, took a sip of coffee, and asked, "So?"

"Miss Hensley is very important to Harrison, and she's his girlfriend now. You should know that, don't you?" Frankie said.

Edward immediately understood.

"You want to get Miss Hensley into our hands?"

"Exactly," Frankie said. "Nothing is guaranteed.

Though our plan seems to be going well, what if it fails in the end? Whether it's Lorenzo or Harrison, neither will show us mercy.

But if we have Miss Hensley in our control, we'll have leverage. If we threaten Harrison with her life, he'll definitely let us go."

He had initially planned to kidnap Adeline.

But he was worried it would raise suspicion.

Plus, Adeline was well protected by Harrison in Orianto.

The security there was too tight.

He couldn't find an opportunity.

So, he gave up for the time being.

But now the plan was moving forward, and Adeline had gone to Yewhaina.

He thought he could give it a try.

"Are you sure?" Edward asked suspiciously.

"Harrison would let go of someone who might harm him just for a woman?"

"You should know your own son," Frankie said with a smile. "Harrison is quite the romantic."

Edward fell silent.

He really didn't understand these things.

"Anyway, let's first get Adeline into our hands," Edward said. "But she's in Yewhaina, and behind her is the Mendoza family. We don't know the area well, but you've stayed in Yewhaina for so long. Surely you have a way?"

Edward hesitated for a moment. "I do know someone. His organization might help us with this, but it will cost a lot."

"Money is not a problem," Frankie said immediately. "As long as we can be sure they will get Adeline without the Mendoza family finding out."

"I can't guarantee that, but that organization does work quickly," Edward said. "If you can provide the money, I can get in touch with them."

Frankie seemed a bit disappointed when he heard the lack of guarantee.

But after thinking about it, he realized there was no other choice.

"Then contact them," Frankie said. "Tell them to hurry, because our plan is nearing its final step..."

In the morning in Yewhaina, Adeline groggily

woke up and instinctively reached out to hold the person next to her.

But she found nothing but air.

Only then did she realize that Harrison wasn't beside her.

A wave of disappointment washed over her.

She picked up her phone and saw that Harrison had sent her a lot of messages.

He even sent her a picture of his lunch.

Her disappointment eased a little as she replied to him, one message after another.

Harrison didn't reply immediately, probably because he was busy with something.

Adeline went to the bathroom to freshen up.

When she came out, she heard a knock on the door, followed by Joyce's voice.

"Adeline, are you awake? Let's go out and have some fun."

Adeline opened the door and said, "You troublemaker, if I weren't awake, you would've just woken me up, right?"

Joyce grinned, "That's exactly the point."

"Then I'll kill you," Adeline said, turning to walk into the wardrobe to change out of her nightgown.

Joyce followed her into the wardrobe.

They had shared so many nights together since childhood, so Adeline didn't feel the need to hide from Joyce while changing.

Just as Adeline was removing her nightgown,

Joyce suddenly gasped.

"What's wrong?" Adeline asked, still changing.

"Why do I feel like... you've gotten a little bigger up top?" Joyce raised her eyebrows teasingly.

"Didn't you use to be flatter than me?

Looks like you've outgrown me now."
