Chapter 521: He Wants To Photograph You
Sam didn't need to go to such extremes this time. All he had to do was help Harrison out.
Harrison gave a chuckle and raised his fist. Sam met his with a fist bump.
“Say no more. Your business is my business. And if you dare talk to me like we're strangers again, don't blame me for flipping the table on you."
"Got it."
After leaving the amusement park, Adeline and Joyce took Alondra to a nearby gym.
There was a kids' section inside, full of children around Alondra's age playing table tennis. She stood at the sidelines for a while, then-almost instinctively-started mimicking their swings.
Seeing her eager to try, Adeline asked, "Want to give it a go?"
"But I don't know how," Alondra said, blushing.
At that moment, a friendly-looking female coach approached, smiling. "Hey, little one, want to play? Come on, I'll teach you."
Alondra hesitated but, after getting an encouraging nod from Adeline, took the racket and followed the coach to the table.
It was her first time playing, so she had to learn how to hold the racket first.
The coach was patient, and Alondra was concentrated.
Slowly, she went from knowing nothing to managing to return a couple of balls.
Of course, the coach was giving her a little help, but Alondra definitely showed some talent.
She played for almost three hours, and by the time she returned to Adeline, her clothes were drenched in sweat.
The coach smiled at Adeline and said, "She's got perseverance, smarts, and talent."
Alondra blushed, flustered by the praise, and sipped some water.
Adeline smiled warmly. "Thank you for being so patient with her."
The coach waved it off. "It's nothing. I love working with kids who are so focused."
Adeline patted Alondra's head, a proud look on her face.
She thought it would be best to tell Lorenzo about this.
Alondra seemed eager to continue, but her energy was running low. Adeline, concerned, decided to take her home and promised to bring her back next time.
Alondra was exhausted, but the gym's bathrooms were divided by gender, with no private stalls. It was Alondra's first time in such a setting, and she felt a little embarrassed.
Luckily, there was a hotel nearby, under the Thomson Group.
Without revealing her identity, Adeline booked a room and sent Alondra to shower.
While Alondra showered, Adeline and Joyce were on their phones chatting outside. A few moments later, there was a knock at the door. Joyce opened it, only to be stunned by
what she saw.
A couple of bodyguards were standing outside, holding a man who was bruised and battered.
"Miss Monroe," the lead bodyguard greeted her. Joyce stood there for a moment, stunned, before asking, "What's going on here?"
"This man has been following you and taking pictures," the bodyguard explained. "We spotted him lurking near your room just now."
They had been keeping an eye on him for a while.
But they didn't want to cause any unnecessary harm.
However, his behavior at the door had been so obvious that they had no choice but to stop him.
They grabbed him, checked his camera.
It was filled with photos of Adeline and Joyce, and sometimes Alondra was caught in the frame too.
Despite being caught red-handed, the man still refused to admit it. even trving to escape. He was quickly dealt with.
"Please, forgive me. I was just doing my job," the man stammered. "You know how hard it is for small-time reporters. I'm just trying to make a living..."
"So you think it's fine to follow people around and take pictures?" Joyce shot back without hesitation.
"I'm sorry. I won't do it again, I swear," the man quickly apologized.
At that moment, Adeline stepped forward.
She looked at the man in front of her, then glanced at the photos on the camera. She frowned and asked, "Which media are you
from?"
The man hesitated, then muttered, "It's a small media outlet, nothing special. You probably wouldn't know it."
Adeline smiled coolly. "That's fine, you can tell me. As long as the media exists, we can track it down. Unless..."
Her eyes turned icy. "Unless you're not actually a media employee."
The man turned pale, his eyes wide with fear.
"Adeline, how did you know?" Joyce asked in surprise.
"Look at these photos," Adeline replied.
"Though many pictures have me and you, if you take a closer look, you'll see that the one he was really after was you."
Joyce quickly flipped through the photos.
Sure enough.
In every single one, she was at the center.
And there were a few that were just her alone.
There were no photos of just Adeline or Alondra.
So, this man had been following and photographing her all along.
But she wasn't a celebrity. No one really knew her outside of family and friends.
Adeline had been on the trending list a few times, but Joyce was hardly a household name.
"Tell me, who sent you? Why were you following me and taking pictures?" Joyce demanded angrily.
The man kept his head down, his lips tightly shut, as though he had no intention of revealing his employer.
Adeline spoke up, "The mastermind behind all this is him, no one else."
"You mean Callan?"
As Joyce spoke his name, disgust was evident on her face.
The man hurriedly shook his head. "What Callan? I don't know him."
"We didn't ask you, so why are you in such a rush to deny it?" Joyce sneered. "It's almost like you're trying too hard to cover it up." The man realized his mistake and looked frustrated with himself.
"Callan again.." Joyce's face turned pale.
"How much longer is this guy going to drag it out?"
Being pursued by such a man didn't make Joyce feel flattered. It just felt like a bad omen.
Adeline patted her hand, then said to the bodyguards, "Take him downstairs."
It was still the hotel corridor, and though it was empty, it wasn't the right place to hang around.
"Yes, ma'am."
After the bodyguards left with the man, Adeline and Joyce returned to the room.
Seeing Joyce still upset, Adeline handed her a glass of juice.
"Don't worry," Adeline said. "He won't be causing trouble for long."
"Callan?" Joyce asked quickly. "How do you know?"
Adeline smiled and said, "It's a secret."
"You're keeping secrets from me?" Joyce almost tore her hair out in frustration. "Come on, tell me what's going on!"
"Honestly, I don't know much," Adeline said.
"But here's something I can tell you: trust your boyfriend."
