Chapter 529: Drag Them Down
"Who is it? Is it Isaac? Or Gracie?" Camilla squinted, unable to see who was inside the car.
She could only guess. "Please, help me..."
A few security guards stepped forward and grabbed Camilla, dragging her away.
They seemed completely unfazed by such situations, as if they had seen it all before.
"Let go of me! Please, help me..."
Camilla's voice was filled with desperation and pain.
She had no choice.
Initially, she had thought that by getting close to Pedro, she could secure a way out.
But she never expected Pedro to vanish without a trace. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't reach him.
She ran to the Livingston family, claiming to be Pedro's girlfriend.
But she was thrown out by Fletcher and Litzy.
They were already on edge from not being able to find their son.
And Camilla had just stumbled right into their frustration.
Watching her condition worsen by the day, Camilla had no choice but to turn.to the Mendoza family for help.
Though her mind was full of dark thoughts, she dared not show any of them in front of the Mendoza family.
But she had underestimated Isaac and Gracie.
These two had fought and struggled for decades.
They had survived and witnessed all kinds of disasters.
What kind of people hadn't they seen?
Camilla had come around so often, so they could see right through her.
But they showed no sympathy for her.
After seeing through her malice, there was no way they would help her.
If she liked squatting outside the Mendoza family, then let her be.
Seeing the security guards dragging Camilla away, Alberto restarted the car and drove through the gate.
Camilla watched the car's shadow with despair.
By this time, the security guards had already let her go.
After all, she was a woman, and they couldn't do anything too harsh to her.
As long as she didn't get in the way, they didn't care.
Camilla wanted to rush into the house, but the security guards stood firm in front of her.
Over the past few days, she had figured out that she could wander around the Mendoza family.
No one would care:
But if she tried to get inside, that was a different story.
She couldn't disturb the Mendoza family.
Camilla grabbed her hair in frustration.
One of the security guards kindly advised her, "You're wasting your time here. If you keep lingering, you'll just make everyone hate you." Another security guard chimed in, "And Miss Hensley's back today. Do you really think anyone has time for you now?"
"Miss Hensley?" Camilla froze for a moment, then asked, "You mean the one who disappeared and was found again?"
"Of course. Who else could it be?" The guard replied impatiently. "Enough. If you're just going to cause trouble here, you'd better try another way."
With that, the security guards turned and left.
Camilla stood there, trembling, her hands shaking.
Hearing that Adeline had returned sent jealousy burning inside her.
After all, she had always thought that she should be the heiress to the Mendoza family.
And now, Adeline had taken her, place.
Adeline was receiving all the love and attention that should have been hers.
Camilla couldn't accept that.
She had always held grudges against Adeline.
And now, that resentment had reached its peak.
If she was going to die, she might as well drag a few others down with her.
She would make sure to drag the Mendoza family with her.
After dinner, Adeline handed out the lucky charms she had gotten from the church to her family, one for each of them, just enough.
Gracie immediately wore hers, smiling, "With this lucky charm, our family will be safe from now on."
"Of course," Isaac said, sounding a bit proud.
"Since Adeline came into our lives, we've made several big deals. This good fortune is all thanks to Adeline."
Adeline chuckled, "Dad, you're exaggerating."
The Mendoza Group was already a big business.
Closing a few major deals was nothing unusual.
"I'm not exaggerating," Isaac said seriously.
"That's a surprise."
The whole family laughed at Isaac's earnest expression.
Connie held the lucky charm in her hand, touched.
She hadn't expected Adeline to think of her when she got the charm.
They had only known each other for a short time, and she wasn't even married to Alberto yet.
But in Adeline's heart, Connie was already considered family.
So Connie felt a warm rush of happiness and gratitude.
That night, unable to sleep and with nothing else to do, Adeline and Joyce decided to go to a new bar with Connie.
Since the kidnapping incident with Adeline, the Mendoza family had stationed several bodyguards to watch over her.
So, even though they were going to a bar, it wasn't a problem.
Besides, the bar was owned by Connie's friend and had top-notch security.
Alberto had originally planned to go with them, but Connie refused.
"This is a girls' night out. What are you going to do?" Connie said, "Just stay home and sleep."
Alberto frowned, feeling a little left out.
But Connie didn't pay him any mind and walked off with Adeline and Joyce.
The three of them entered the bar, ordered three fruity drinks, and enjoyed the live singer on stage while chatting.
They talked about life, work, and their boyfriends.
With their stunning looks, a few men came up to flirt, but none of them had any success.
Two of them, after being rejected, got so angry that they tried to stir up trouble.
Within seconds, they were subdued by the bar's security and the Mendoza family's bodyguards.
After that, no one dared to bother them.
Adeline felt relieved to finally have some peace.
But not long after, she suddenly felt someone tap her on the shoulder.
She frowned, thinking it was just another guy trying to flirt. She turned around, ready to reject him, but froze when she saw who was standing there.
"What... what are you doing here?"
Behind her stood Ronan.
Ronan looked at her, his eyes lighting up with surprise.
"Miss Hensley, it really is you."
He had spotted her the moment he walked in.
Though he only saw her back, it felt so familiar to him.
Remembering that Adeline was the heiress of the Mendoza family, he thought it could really be her, so he approached to say hello.
And to his joy, it was indeed Adeline.
Meeting someone familiar in a foreign place was a pleasant surprise, especially someone like Adeline, who had been on his mind for so long.
Adeline hadn't expected to run into Ronan here.
After introducing him to Connie and Joyce, she asked, "Aren't you studying at Daltoria now? What brings you here?"
Ronan said, "It's vacation time. A friend of mine lives in Yewhaina, so I thought I'd come over to visit. I had some free time, so I bought a ticket and came to relax."
"And then I ran into you," he added with a smile.
Ronan felt that his decision to come here was the right one.

Things are really mixed up not as people thought it would be. So I think people should pray for the inevitable which is unseen in their day to day involvement. And also be good as they go along for them not to get entangled in the way they don't expect it to go. Really educating the minds of people to understand what they need to choose in their life and not to be messed up at the end of it all.
