One night stand with my president(chapter 539)

Chapter 539: I Should Trust You

Joel vaguely sensed something was off.

But his pride made him reluctant to admit it.

He couldn't understand it.

When he planted the tracker on Adeline, she didn't seem to notice anything unusual.

But now, she let someone fool him like that with. the tracker.

Joel thought that she must have found it later.

But the mini tracker was pressed against the button and placed inside her pocket.

Generally, it was almost impossible to detect.

Under Krauss's cold gaze, Joel forced himself to explain, "If she really found the tracker, she would have destroyed it by now. Why would she still carry it around?"

"Do you think the person carrying the tracker is necessarily her?" Krauss asked with a headache.

"Maybe it's not just one person."

A group of people worked together, casually wandering around the city with the tracker.

They had managed to mislead Joel and Krauss into chasing after them everywhere.

Joel's face turned pale.

"Looks like I trusted you too much," Krauss said, "letting you do whatever you want. You're only good at killing people."

Joel wanted to argue, but seeing the strange path on the map from the tracker, he fell silent.

"Leave the rest to me," Krauss continued.

"However, this task will be harder now. You've already alerted them."

He glanced at the tablet Joel was holding.

"Remember, before we head back, throw away everything related to your tracker. We don't want them to trace us. After all, being the heiress of the Mendoza family, she must have experts who can easily trace it."

Joel clearly looked reluctant.

But seeing Krauss's threatening look, he still threw everything related to the tracker out of the car window.

"Let's go," Joel said to the driver.

The driver didn't move, wiping his sweat in the driver's seat.

"Didn't you hear me? Let's go," Joel asked impatiently.

The driver glanced at him in the rearview mirror and cautiously said, "Gentlemen, we're out of fuel."

Adeline indeed hired an expert in anti-tracking.

But the target's location was in a remote area, and it hadn't moved for quite some time.

She knew that the person must have already discarded the tracking device.

But that was fine.

She still had a photo of the man she met at the coffee shop.

When she left the coffee shop, she had already sent someone to secretly check the surveillance footage.

But she also felt relying solely on the footage wasn't secure enough.

She pretended to casually look back, noticing the man was still inside the café.

Through the glass, she could see him clearly.

So, she took out her phone and snapped a quick photo.

However, it wasn't as clear as she had hoped. It was just a side profile.

But it was better than nothing.

Later, the man she sent to check the footage told her that the café's surveillance system had malfunctioned just as the man entered.

The staff had no idea what caused the issue, and all previous footage had been erased.

Adeline felt lucky that she had prepared another backup plan.

After all, the man hadn't bothered to hide his face in the café in order to lower her guard.

But that didn't mean he would leave his face in a surveillance video.

Back at the Mendoza family, Adeline handed the half photo she took to Alberto and asked him to investigate.

Since Alberto grew up in Yewhaina, he definitely had stronger networks and more connections.

Upon hearing that someone dared to approach Adeline and plant a tracker on her, Alberto became immediately alert.

He quickly ordered his men to investigate, warning them not to alert anyone.

After hearing the news, Isaac and Gracie secretly stationed more bodyguards around the Mendoza family's vicinity.

Previously, they hadn't protected their daughter well enough, which led to Adeline being kidnapped by Benjamin.

This time, they wouldn't let history repeat itself.

Adeline returned to her room and took a shower.

She grabbed her phone, intending to tell Harrison about what had happened today.

But then she remembered that he had so many things to handle in Orianto.

She didn't want to worry him, just like how he

didn't want her to worry.

Even if Harrison found out about this later, she hoped he would understand.

For some reason, Adeline felt a little guilty.

So, she quickly sent a message in the family chat group.

"Please don't tell Harrison about today's events."

Isaac was the first to reply.

He just replied with an emoji that was hard to read.

Then Gracie replied, "Hey, don't worry. We won't spill anything. Also, Isaac, why are you being sarcastic to her?"

Isaac replied, "I wasn't."

Alberto said, "Maybe Dad's just expressing his frustration and anger.

Gracie asked, "What are you frustrated or angry about?"

Isaac sent a "helpless" emoji.

However, Gracie didn't pay close attention and misunderstood the emoji as one of "speechless," and immediately exploded.

"So, you find me annoying, right? Fine, you wait. You'll be sleeping in the' study tonight."

Isaac quickly defended himself, "I didn't mean 'speechless.' This emoji means 'helpless, not 'speechless."

"So you're helpless with me now?"

Isaac was speechless.

He truly didn't know how to respond.

He hoped for some support from Alberto and Adeline, but both were too busy with their own amusement, leaving him to handle it alone.

Isaac had been in the study but rushed to the bedroom. When he reached the door, he found Gracie had locked it from the inside.

He knocked for a while, but she didn't open the door.

He helplessly returned to the study, cursing Alberto and Adeline in the group.

"You two ungrateful brats."

Adeline sent a "guilty" emoji.

Alberto asked, "What does this have to do with me?"

Isaac replied, "Get to the study now."

"No. I'm busy helping Adeline find someone."

Isaac was fuming, but couldn't do anything about it. After all, this was the daughter they had worked so hard to find. He couldn't bring himself to get angry at Adeline.

If only he hadn't sent that emoji.

It was all because of that one emoji.
