One night stand with my president(chapter 478)

Chapter 478: We Shall See

"We've been keeping an eye on Frankie and Marshall," Harrison said as he looked at Adeline, his expression serious. "They had dinner with my father."

"Those two have always kept a low profile, with hardly any presence," Adeline replied. "But lately, it seems like they're becoming more active."

Harrison knew exactly what she meant.

Before, whenever there was any controversial matter within the Thomson family, Frankie and Marshall had always kept their distance, careful not to get involved.

He understood, too.

After all, Frankie was Lorenzo's adopted son, and the Thomson family had only ensured they lived comfortably without giving them any real power.

They had no desire to get caught up in the family's complexities, and that was perfectly understandable.

But recently, they seemed to be stepping up their involvement.

First, they were mixed up in the Milania

 situation.

Then, they got involved with Edward.

If Milania's escape was just a coincidence, then Edward faking his death and returning home with his already awkward identity-especially now that he was no longer living in the Thomson family-meant Frankie and Marshall couldn't possibly not know something was going on.

Why had they suddenly become so familiar with Edward?

Before, when Edward hadn't faked his death and left the family, Frankie hadn't seemed particularly close to him.

So why the sudden closeness now?

Adeline looked at Harrison, who had remained silent, and gently patted the back of his hand.

"Things haven't escalated to the worst yet."

She knew what Harrison was most concerned about.

Even though Edward was in his current state, Harrison still didn't want to make an enemy of him.

But if Edward truly teamed up with Frankie and Marshall to do something harmful to the Thomson family or to those close to Harrison, he wouldn't stand idly by.

"I know."

Harrison closed his eyes for a moment.

When he opened them again, his expression was calm.

"By the way, I won't be able to attend the show with you in a few days," Adeline said.

Harrison's brow furrowed slightly.

"Why?"

He wasn't particularly interested in the show, but it was a collaboration with the Thomson Group's new fashion line, and the organizers had specifically invited him to attend.

He had already agreed.

Originally, he had planned to attend with Adeline by his side, thinking that, even if he wasn't keen on the event, having her there would make it more enjoyable.

But now, she wouldn't be able to attend.

"I have to go to Aurgville," Adeline said. "An old friend of my mother is seriously ill and wants to see me."

When she mentioned "my mother," Adeline was referring to her adoptive mother, Elissa Gilmore.

Adeline remembered Elissa well, as her mother had often taken her to visit Elissa for meals or outings when Adeline was a child.

Later, Elissa had moved to Aurgville, and after her mother passed, they lost contact.

But this morning, Elissa had called and wanted to see Adeline, reminiscing about the old times.

Adeline felt she should visit Elissa, both out of emotion and respect.

"Then I'll go with you," Harrison immediately said.

Adeline shook her head. "There's a lot going on at the company, and the show is important to the new fashion line. Since you've already agreed to attend, it wouldn't look good to back out."

Of course, given Harrison's position, he could back out if he wanted, and no one would dare to say anything.

But Adeline didn't want to waste his credibility over something like this.

Besides, Aurgville wasn't far, and she could manage on her own.

Harrison seemed reluctant.

"Come on, l'm not a child. I'll be back in a few days. If anything comes up, I'll find you right away, Okay?"

"Alright," Harrison reluctantly agreed. "If there's anything your mother needs, don't hesitate to ask. I can have someone get in touch with specialists for her condition."

"I know, don't worry."

Harrison reached over and took her hand.

Even though he said nothing, his reluctance was palpable.

Adeline couldn't help but smile.

"We're together every day, whether at work or at home, and you're still not tired of me?"

"Never," Harrison said firmly. "I'll never get tired of you, not for a lifetime."

While the two of them were indulging in their moments, Pedro was in an old residential area, searching intensely with his men.

Of course, he was careful not to make too much noise.

After all, this wasn't his turf. If anything went wrong, it could cause major trouble.

His plan was to find Benjamin and take him back to Yewhaina.

There, he could deal with Benjamin however he wanted.

Pedro thought, "The bastard dared to use me and trick me."

He was determined to make Benjamin pay.

Pedro had received word this morning that Benjamin should be hiding in this residential

area.

So he rushed over with his men to search.

But after searching for a while, there was still no sign of Benjamin. Because Pedro had rushed over without a translator, communication was a struggle.

Though it wasn't particularly hot, Pedro was sweating heavily.

He had his men go buy cold drinks, but they came back with hot drinks instead, which made him furious. Pedro kicked one of them angrily.

"Sir, it isn't working," one of the men said anxiously. "Why don't we go to Mr. Thomson or Miss Mendoza for help?"

Pedro shivered at the mention of Harrison and Adeline.

He suddenly felt a chill, and the cold drink didn't even seem appealing anymore.

"No," he said. "I've offended them already.

Even if I go to them now, they won't help me, and it might cause more trouble. It's better to wait until I catch Benjamin, and then I can go to them, using it as a bargaining chip."

"But if we keep searching like this..."

Before the man could finish, he suddenly slapped Pedro on the shoulder.

"What are you doing? How dare you?" Pedro yelled angrily.

"Mr. Livingston, look, it's Benjamin," the man shouted excitedly.

Pedro froze for a moment and turned to look in the direction the man was pointing.

Indeed, he saw a tall figure.

It looked strikingly like Benjamin.

Pedro immediately rushed forward.

"Benjamin, you bastard, stop right there!"

The person ahead seemed startled by his shout, and before he could turn around, Pedro's men had already tackled him to the ground.

"Let go! Let go!" the man shouted.

"Benjamin, once I have you, you're as good as dead," Pedro threatened.

He grabbed the man by the hair and forced his head up.

He froze.

The man did look like he was from Mugroaton.

But it wasn't Benjamin.

"Who are you? Why are you doing this to me?" The man, noticing Pedro's appearance, began shouting.

He was indeed from Mugroaton, a tourist here.

He had just been walking around the area and hadn't expected to run into such trouble.
