Chapter 524: You Like Little Girls
"Don't worry. Nothing's going to happen," Joyce said reassuringly.
Sam didn't want her to comfort him at a time like this, so he suppressed his emotions and said, "It's fine. You and Miss Hensley can go to Yewhaina this weekend. It'll be a good way to avoid things. We don't fear Callan, but seeing him too much gets under your skin."
He glanced at Adeline and added, "Sorry to bother you, Adeline, but please look after Joyce."
Adeline's lips twitched, almost unable to hold back a sarcastic comment.
She thought, "Seriously, Joyce is my best friend. We're practically family by now."
Of course, she would take care of Joyce. She didn't need Sam to remind her.
But Sam was doing it because he genuinely cared about Joyce.
So, she let it slide.
Joyce, clearly thinking the same as Adeline, patted Sam's hand lightly and said, "I've been best friends with Adeline for years. Do you really think you need to tell her to look after me?"
Sam smiled a little.
Just then, another car pulled up and stopped in front of them.
It was Harrison.
"Harrison," Alondra greeted him quietly.
Harrison gave her a nod.
"Alright, Harrison's here to take Miss Hensley, so we'll head back to our places," Sam said.
Joyce said her goodbyes and followed Sam to the car.
Adeline and Alondra got into Harrison's car.
"Did you have fun today?" Harrison asked.
"Yeah!" Alondra answered eagerly.
Just thinking about the table tennis at the gym made her cheeks flush with excitement.
Adeline smiled at her, then turned to Harrison. "I took Alondra to the gym today to play table tennis. She played with the coach for a while, and I could tell she loved it. The coach said she has talent for it."
Harrison raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised.
Alondra didn't exactly seem like the sporty type.
He didn't expect her to take such an interest in table tennis.
He glanced at Alondra through the rearview mirror.
Alondra noticed his gaze and shyly smiled.
"I think we should tell Lorenzo," Adeline said.
"If she likes it and has the talent, it's worth nurturing. After all, the Thomson family already has you as the heir."
Alondra didn't need to worry about the family business.
It might be better to let her pursue what she loved.
Though Harrison appeared indifferent, as long as Alondra didn't end up like Edward and Britney, the Thomson family would always back her up.
"Yeah, I'll find time to talk to Grandpa," Harrison said. "I'm sure he won't mind."
Hearing this, both Alondra and Adeline smiled.
"You two seem to be getting along pretty well," Harrison said with a smirk.
Adeline couldn't help but feel like there was a hint of jealousy in his voice.
"Really? Was he jealous of his own sister's bond with me?" Adeline thought.
"We do get along quite well, don't we, Alondra?" Adeline said, teasing her.
Alondra nodded enthusiastically, her face turning red. "I love you, Adeline!"
"Looks like you really like little girls," Harrison remarked.
Adeline didn't respond, a slight smile tugging at her lips.
"Well then, we should have a daughter,"
Harrison said with a grin.
Adeline shot him a glare, whispering, "What are you saying in front of the kid?"
But her worry was unnecessary. Though Alondra had heard the words "having a child," she was too. busy daydreaming about Harrison and Adeline having a little baby, imagining the child as her younger sister... But Alondra suddenly thought,
"Wait, that didn't make sense. Harrison is my brother, so his child shouldn't be my sister. So what how should it address me?"
Lost in the confusion, Alondra didn't notice the exchanged glance between Harrison and Adeline.
"I don't want kids," Adeline huffed in annoyance.
Harrison laughed softly. "Alright, I'll respect that. It's up to you."
He knew she was just pouting.
Of course, even if Adeline really didn't want kids, he would fully respect her decision.
He did want a child with her, but he understood how hard it was for women to bear children. If Adeline didn't want it, he would never force her.
Family might have their opinions, but he would handle all obstacles for her.
Adeline glanced at his profile, suddenly feeling the urge to kiss him. But since he was driving and Alondra was still in the backseat, she held back.
When they returned home, Alondra went to her guest room, and Adeline handed her a tablet to watch a table tennis match online.
Harrison returned to the master bedroom and changed into his loungewear. Adeline walked in shortly after.
She quietly closed the door, then quickly walked up to him, lifting her arms to wrap around his neck, pulling him down and kissing him.
Harrison's eyes widened in surprise.
He wondered, "What's this sudden warmth from Adeline?"
Although she had been affectionate before, today felt different, with no warning signs.
Surprised, but glad, Harrison embraced her waist, pulling her closer and deepening the kiss.
It was nearly eleven o'clock.
The butler noticed that Lorenzo's study light was still on.
Feeling concerned, he knocked and entered.
"Sir, it's getting late. You should rest."
For the young ones, the night might just be beginning, but for Lorenzo, it was well past bedtime.
And he was usually careful with his health.
Lorenzo, wearing reading glasses, was engrossed in a book.
After hearing the butler, he replied, "No rush." The butler hesitated and was about to leave, but saw Lorenzo put down his book.
Lorenzo spoke up. "Go get Marshall."
"Yes, sir," the butler responded immediately.
Marshall. still awake, was surprised and uneasy when he heard the message to meet Lorenzo.
Lorenzo rarely called him over alone, especially this late at night.
Marshall thought, "What did Lorenzo want now? Did he know something?"
Frankie's expression also darkened.
He told Marshall, "Since Lorenzo called you, hurry up. Don't keep him waiting."
"Alright."
Just before leaving, Marshall whispered, "Don't panic. Maybe we're overthinking it. Don't give anything away in front of Lorenzo."
"Got it."
Marshall arrived at Lorenzo's study.
Lorenzo sat on the couch, a small table in front of him with a chessboard laid out.
"Lorenzo," Marshall greeted respectfully.
"There you are," Lorenzo smiled. "Take a seat. Let's play a game of chess."
"Is that really the reason he summoned me?" Marshall thought.
