Chapter 520: The Owner of the Amusement Park
The two men were so badly beaten by the bodyguards that they could barely speak, let alone get back on their feet.
They struggled to turn their heads and saw the security guards in uniform walking over, hoping desperately for someone to finally take their side.
What happened next completely blindsided them.
The amusement park manager, with several security guards in tow, walked right past the two families and stopped respectfully in front of Adeline and Joyce.
"You must be Miss Hensley, right?" The manager bowed with exaggerated politeness and said, "As of now, you're officially the owner of this amusement park."
He didn't even try to keep his voice down.
The two women froze, stunned and speechless.
Just a few minutes ago, they were sneering, "If you don't like it, buy out the whole park."
And now, Adeline actually owned the place.
That text Adeline had sent earlier was giving orders to make it happen.
Of course, buying an amusement park wasn't usually this fast.
But the manager had gotten instructions from up high: from this moment, Adeline was the new boss.
At first, the manager was confused.
But as soon as he realized who Adeline was, it all made sense. Someone like her could buy a whole amusement park on a whim.
The former owner, of course, had already been compensated handsomely.
The two women's faces were a mixture of pale shock and burning embarrassment.
They finally realized they'd picked the absolute worst person to mess with.
They wanted to apologize, but it was way too late for that.
Adeline looked at the trembling Alondra in her arms and said, "My little sister was terrified by them "
That single sentence made the manager's face go even grimmer.
He already knew who Adeline was, and although he didn't know the little girl, it wasn't hard to guess.
She was either from the Mendoza family or the Thomson family.
Either way, not people you wanted to cross.
"We'll handle this right away," the manager promised.
He signaled to the security guards with a look.
The guards immediately walked over and
"invited" the two women out, bringing their bratty sons with them.
The two men had already been dragged away by the bodyguards.
Then, a whole team showed up to talk to bystanders and politely asked them to delete any photos or videos they'd taken.
Even if someone managed to post something online, it would get deleted in minutes.
Nothing about this was going public.
That was exactly what Adeline wanted.
She didn't want Alondra's face or story all over the internet.
Alondra's situation was too complicated, and she was far too young for that kind of attention.
The manager bowed his head again, full of apologies.
"I'm so sorry, this was our fault for not keeping things under control and ruining your day."
Adeline didn't give him a hard time, but the fun was definitely ruined.
Alondra, who had been excited to try all sorts of rides, had lost her mood completely.
Joyce went and bought three sundaes, handing one to each of them.
Alondra nibbled at her ice cream, finally calming down a little, but she clearly didn't want to stay.
So Adeline and Joyce took her somewhere else for the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, Harrison and Sam had just found out what happened at the amusement park.
They happened to be together when the report came in.
Sam looked thoroughly disgusted.
"No wonder there are so many bratty kids these days."
Thank God Adeline wasn't the type one could just push around.
If it had been any ordinary woman facing two shrieking moms and two aggressive men, no one knew what would've happened.
Harrison gave a cold laugh, tapping his finger rhythmically on the edge of the sofa.
The staff member reporting the incident felt a chill down his back and hurried on, "Miss Hensley bought the amusement park outright. The two couples and their kids have been blacklisted by the park and all its affiliates."
Sam just sneered, "That's nowhere near enough. Find out who they are. Every single business connected to the Thomson family and the Juarez family has to blacklist them, too."
His words sounded easy, but for those two families, it was a death sentence.
Once all those companies cut ties, those families wouldn't just be out of luck in this city, even moving to another one wouldn't help.
Normally, if this had just been a little spat, Harrison and Sam wouldn't have gone this far.
But the staffer had included every word the men said to Adeline and Joyce and the fact they tried to get physical.
That was what had set them off.
"Keep an eye on them," Harrison said quietly.
"Yes, sir."
The staff member understood perfectly well what that meant.
Those two families' lives were about to get very, very difficult.
Sam poured himself a drink and downed it in one go.
Then he looked at Harrison and said, "Are you really sure you want to go through with your plan?"
Of course, he wasn't talking about the amusement park or those families, but something much bigger.
"I'm sure," Harrison said, pouring himself a glass but not taking a sip, just staring into the liquid.
Sam sighed. "You don't have to do this. If you already know the truth, just deal with it. Why torture yourself?"
Harrison was silent for a moment. "I want to give him one last chance."
Sam went quiet too, then clinked his glass against Harrison's and finished his drink.
Harrison didn't see the flash of pain in Sam's
eyes.
In all the years they'd known each other, Sam had rarely felt so sorry for Harrison.
After a long silence, Sam asked, "Does Miss Hensley know what you're up to?"
"She knows, but I didn't give her all the details," Harrison said. "She's going to Yewhaina this weekend."
"Perfect," Sam said. "Let Joyce go with her. I want her far away from all this, too."
"Yeah," Harrison agreed, raising his glass.
"Thanks for everything, man."
Sam shot him a look. "Come on, don't thank me. Are we buddies or not?"
He hadn't forgotten how Harrison had stepped in for him back when Callan's men left him bleeding.
Harrison had always had Sam's back, through thick and thin, and Sam hadn't forgotten it.
Now, whatever Harrison needed-even if it meant going through hell-Sam would be there.
