Chapter 491: Who Are You?
The fashion show had just wrapped up, but because the Thomson Group had partnered with the event, Harrison stuck around a little longer, chatting briefly with the person in charge.
He'd barely finished the conversation when Victoria appeared, gliding toward him with a confident smile.
"Mr. Thomson, l'm Victoria. I've heard so much about you. It's such a pleasure to finally meet you in person," she said warmly.
Her voice was just as captivating as people claimed. She'd even been invited to voice a character in an animated series recently, and the reviews had been glowing.
The manager watched them closely, his gaze darting back and forth, obviously trying to figure out if Harrison might be interested in Victoria.
But Harrison barely glanced at her, his eyes cool and indifferent, and he didn't bother to say a single word in reply.
Victoria bit her lip, embarrassment creeping onto her flawless face.
"What was going on lately?" Victoria thought.
No man had ever ignored her like this before.
But now, first Russell, and now Harrison, both of them acted as if she didn't even exist.
She thought, "Is there something wrong with these men that they can be so unaffected by someone like me?"
If anything, their indifference only made her more determined.
Russell had offered her a hefty reward if she could win Harrison over, and she was never one to back down from a challenge.
Besides, now that she'd actually seen Harrison up close, she found herself genuinely drawn to him.
She'd brushed off countless rich and powerful men before, but Harrison was nothing like them.
She liked that.
"Mr. Thomson, what did you think of my walk just now?" she pressed, unwilling to give
up.
Harrison's answer was ice-cold. "I think you'd be better off asking a professional for feedback."
The tension in the air grew almost unbearable, so the manager quickly stepped in to smooth things over.
He said, "Victoria, your performance was outstanding. It's'our honor to have you here today."
Even he was a bit confused because Victoria had initially refused their invitation. However, she suddenly reached out herself, eager to join the show.
He glanced at both of them, putting two and two together:
The manager thought, "Has she come here just for Harrison?"
But seeing how Harrison was barely paying her any attention, he couldn't help but wonder what kind of woman Harrison was actually interested in.
Victoria wasn't the type to back down easily.
Even as Harrison's coldness became more obvious, she didn't retreat. She even invited him to dinner.
Across the room, Tessa stood watching, seething with jealousy.
She hadn't expected anyone would try to compete with her for Harrison tonight, let alone Victoria.
Tessa thought, "Isn't it enough for her to have everyone's attention? Now she wants Harrison, too? Over my dead body."
She'd worked too hard and sacrificed too much to let anyone snatch Harrison away from her now.
But, looking at Harrison's coldness, she felt a surge of relief.
He seemed completely uninterested in Victoria.
Tessa thought, "Maybe I still have a shot."
As expected, Harrison declined Victoria's dinner invitation without a second thought.
He had no interest in dining with any other woman.
His conversation with the manager was over, and he saw no reason to stay and turned to leave.
Victoria started to panic.
Russell had made it clear.
She had to get close to Harrison at all costs.
But she'd barely exchanged two sentences with him, and he hadn't even acknowledged her.
How was she supposed to report back to Russell?
Still, she was a world-class supermodel.
The idea of running after a man who was already walking away was almost unthinkable.
The manager, noticing her hesitation, sighed sympathetically. "Victoria, you might want to let this one go. Mr. Thomson isn't the type to be easily charmed, and honestly, if you keep pushing, you might just end up getting on his bad side, and that's something you don't want."
Victoria just smiled, tossing her hair flirtatiously.
The manager almost forgot what he was about to say.
"Thank you for your concern," she replied, her tone confident. "But I've never been one to quit while I'm ahead. If I gave up that easily, I wouldn't be Victoria."
With that, she turned and walked away.
The show might be over, but she knew there would be other chances.
Adeline hadn't returned to Harrison's side yet, after all.
If Russell could arrange another "chance encounter," she was sure she'd win Harrison over eventually.
Meanwhile, Harrison was already making his way toward the exit when a voice called out from behind him.
"Mr. Thomson, wait!"
He turned to see a woman in a hat and staff badge, obviously from the event crew.
She was keeping her head down, as if trying to hide her face.
"Mr. Thomson, there's a problem with the, Thomson Group's clothing," she said. "Some of the models broke out in a rash after wearing them. The manager asked me to bring you to take a look."
Harrison shot her a look, then nodded.
"Alright, show me."
The woman led him through a maze of hallways to a secluded room.
She opened the door and walked in first.
As Harrison was about to follow, she spun around, pulled out a small canister, and sprayed something at him.
But Harrison's reflexes were much faster than she anticipated.
He dodged the attack in an instant.
In the blink of an eye, several large men burst out from nowhere, tackling the woman to the ground.
She screamed as her hat flew off, revealing her face-Tessa.
"Thomson, you..." she stammered, completely stunned, still trying to process what had just happened.
Harrison stood over her, looking down coldly.
One of his men picked up the canister she'd been holding and handed it to him.'
"It's a spray of some kind, sir," the man reported.
"Not sure what's in it. I'll have it tested right away."
Harrison just nodded.
Tessa, panicked, tried to explain,
"It's nothing, really! Just some ordinary perfume..."
But Harrison ignored her.
His next words cut straight through her.
"Who are you?"
Just three simple words, but they hit Tessa like a slap.
They'd already met twice, and she'd even walked the runway at his show today, but Harrison hadn't remembered her at all.
A bitter feeling welled up in Tessa's chest. "Mr. Thomson, I'm... a model."
"Who sent you?" Harrison pressed.
Tessa hesitated.
Should she say it was Russell? But that wasn't really right.
It was actually her who'd asked Russell for help...
