One night stand with my president(chapter 474)

Chapter 474:  Drag Harrison Down

After answering the phone, Harrison didn't speak right away.

On the other end of the line, Benjamin remained silent, which only deepened the tension.

Harrison wasn't in a rush either.

He waited patiently, knowing that sooner or later, Benjamin would crack.

A moment later, Benjamin finally spoke, his voice laced with restrained anger.

"It's Harrison, right?"

It was Benjamin's voice, unmistakable, though his fury was barely contained.

Harrison couldn't help but smirk.

"Benjamin."

His voice was cold and sharp. "Who gave you the courage to call her?"

"You know I'm calling for Adeline," Benjamin said.

"Please, give her the phone."

"You have no right to speak with her," Harrison replied firmly.

Benjamin inhaled deeply, trying to keep his

composure.

If Harrison were standing before him, he knew he wouldn't be able to resist taking a swing.

"Harrison, you're truly venomous," Benjamin spat, his voice dripping with resentment.

"You had the nerve to set me up."

Harrison let out a laugh, as if he had just heard the most absurd thing.

"Venomous? I can't even compete with you," Harrison said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

"Everything you've done, every decision you made, was on you. It has nothing to do with me. And as for the Tillman family, it's always been dirty from the start."

Benjamin's hands trembled with rage.

He could already imagine it: the moment he returned to Mugroaton, the police would be waiting for him.

He had boarded the plane just before they could catch on.

If he had been à second later, he would have never made it out of Mugroaton.

What awaited him was certain imprisonment.

Even the Tillman family couldn't save him now.

And just as Harrison had said, the Tillman family was dirty from the start.

Now, the family was in chaos, everyone scrambling to save themselves.

No one had the time or the will to save him.

Rage consumed Benjamin.

He knew he was at the end of his rope.

If that were truly the case, he was going to drag Harrison down with him.

And as for Adeline, the thought of her face twisted inside him.

She had almost been his.

But in the end, she was snatched away by Harrison.

He chuckled bitterly.

Since Adeline wouldn't have him, he would drag her down to hell with him.

"Harrison, just wait," he muttered, his voice laced with venom.

With that, he hung up the phone.

Harrison returned the phone to Adeline, and then turned to Georgia and Rowen. "Have someone check the recent passenger lists for flights leaving Mugroaton."

"Mr. Thomson, are you suspecting..."

"His private jet could easily be a decoy," Harrison said, his gaze hardening.

"Benjamin knows we've been keeping an eye on him."

If Benjamin knew, he must have realized that as soon as his private jet touched down in Orianto, he'd be under surveillance.

So, the private jet was likely just a smokescreen.

Benjamin could very well be among the regular guests arriving on a commercial flight.

"Yes," Rowen said, nodding in agreement.

After Georgia and Rowen left, Harrison sat beside Adeline, noticing her darkened mood. He pulled her into his arms.

"It's alright. Don't think about it too much," he said softly.

"Hmm, I know."

Leaning into his embrace, hearing the steady beat of his heart, Adeline felt a little lighter.

With Harrison by her side, even though she knew Benjamin might have more up his sleeve, her spirits were higher.

As long as they were together, whatever came their way would be handled.

Late-night at the bar, the place was bustling, filled with the noise of voices and clinking glasses.

As soon as Tessa entered, several men tried to approach her, but she coldly turned them down and made her way straight to the third floor.

The third floor was much quieter compared to the downstairs chaos. The hallway was covered with thick carpets, and the decor was much more luxurious.

A gleam of excitement flashed in Tessa's eyes.

The third floor was reserved for VIPs. Most people didn't even know it existed. She'd only just learned about it today.

She hadn't taken many steps when a  few bodyguards stopped her.

"I... I'm Tessa Greene," she stammered nervously.

"Mr. Hunter asked me to come up."

The bodyguards heard the name and immediately let her pass.

"Mr. Hunter's in the room at the back," they said.

Tessa breathed a sigh of relief and walked to the back room, knocking on the door.

"Come in."

She pushed the door open.

Inside, the room was dimly lit. Russell was sitting on the couch, puffing away on a cigarette. On the coffee table in front of him were several bottles of liquor, one of which was already half-empty.

"Russell," Tessa greeted, walking in and immediately addressing him respectfully.

Tessa was actually a distant relative of the Snider family, not closely related, but still with some family ties.

Years ago, Tessa's mother had a good relationship with Russell's biological mother.

After she passed, Tessa's family didn't side with Jasmine, so Russell remained somewhat friendly toward the Greene family.

Tessa had been trying to get close to Harrison but hadn't had the opportunity. So, she had dared to call Russell, hoping that he might help her.

Though their families hadn't kept in touch for years, only greeting each other during holidays, Russell was still her relative. She figured maybe he could do her this favor.

Russell answered her call, and after hearing her request, he asked her to meet him tonight.

"Have a seat," Russell said.

Tessa sat down on the single sofa nearby, cautiously watching him.

She remembered that Russell used to have a good temper, but after what had happened recently, she knew he wasn't as easy-going as before. So, she decided to be extra careful.

Russell finished his cigarette and extinguished it in the ashtray before speaking. "Why are you trying to get close to Harrison?"

Tessa felt a little awkward. After thinking for a moment, she replied, "I... I like him."

As soon as she said that, Russell's lips curled into a mocking smile.

Tessa felt humiliated.

She knew Russell wouldn't believe her.

But what else could she do?

She certainly couldn't say she was after Harrison's power, status, and wealth.

Though that was the truth, she couldn't exactly say it out loud.

Fortunately, Russell didn't press the issue.

"Do you think you have a chance?" he asked, his voice steady.

Tessa knew she didn't.

But since she had come this far, she wasn't about to back down now.

"I do. I just need a chance," she said, her voice earnest.

She poured him a glass of wine with a smile.

"Please, help me."

Russell drank the wine she poured, then set the glass down and said, "I can help you, but I have one condition. You must remember it."

"What's that?" Tessa asked.
