Chapter 541: Not to Mess Up
Upon hearing this, Isaac smirked, as if he wanted to make a sarcastic remark.
He thought, "Fine, actually, Alberto made a good point."
Although he wanted to mock Harrison, he had to admit that Harrison truly cared for Adeline.
He had known this all along.
He might as well not act like the evil man.
Adeline hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, "I know. I'll think it over and decide whether to tell him."
Alberto reached over and patted her on the head.
After breakfast, Adeline and Joyce went for a walk in the back garden of the Mendoza family.
"Adeline, I think Alberto made a good point," Joyce said. "It's not just about Harrison. If it were me, I'd definitely want to be with you when you're in danger. It's not really dangerous now, but it's still not something we could neglect." A breeze blew by, and Joyce continued, "Last time, when I found out you were kidnapped and hurt by a gunshot, I honestly wanted to kill myself. I kept thinking that if I hadn't left Yewhaina and stayed with you, maybe you wouldn't have been plotted against."
As she said this, Joyce remembered how she felt back then, and her eyes reddened.
Although she wasn't very powerful, at least she could have helped a little.
"That's not your fault. You were just overthinking," Adeline said, patting her hand.
"I know it's not my fault, but when its someone you care about, you can't help but think, 'If only I had been there, 'If only I hadn't left her side," Joyce said. "Harrison must feel the same. Even if you come back safe, he'll still feel uneasy. Put yourself in his shoes-if Harrison were in danger and didn't tell you, you'd feel bad too, right?"
Adeline thought for a moment, and she felt that Joyce was right.
Even though she was in Yewhaina, at
least she knew what was going on with Harrison.
She was also keeping an eye on things over there.
Harrison hadn't kept anything from her.
If something really happened, she would immediately go back to help.
When Harrison had said he didn't want to involve her, she wasn't happy either.
They were both trying to protect each other, but it wasn't always what the other person wanted.
If Harrison kept things from her and she only found out after everything was over, she would feel regretful too.
"Alright." Adeline rubbed her head and said, "I understand."
The two of them continued strolling, and after walking a little further, they saw a row of unfamiliar faces ahead, and Philip Wright, the Mendoza family's butler, was standing in front of them, explaining various things about their new roles as servants in the Mendoza family.
"Are those the newly hired servants?"
Joyce asked curiously. "They've already recruited all of them so quickly."
Adeline smiled and said, "Philip is always very efficient."
"I've never seen such a scene before. It's so fresh."
Philip, a man in his forties, was instructing the new servants to work hard, speak less, and keep their mouths shut about anything they heard within the Mendoza family.
The Mendoza family offered high salaries, so obeying these rules was basic.
Probably because his expression was too serious and his tone a bit harsh, a woman with thick bangs and black-rimmed glasses couldn't help but shiver.
"What are you shaking for?" Philip asked, displeased. "I'm just talking about the basics. I'm not scolding you."
"Sorry," the woman replied.
When she spoke, she startled everyone around her.
Her voice was very hoarse.
It was impossible to tell what her real voice sounded like.
The woman seemed to notice that her voice had frightened everyone, so she lowered her head and said, "Sorry, I had a severe illness when I was young, which damaged my throat. Since then, I've spoken like this. I didn't mean to scare you."
Philip frowned slightly.
He wasn't very satisfied with this woman to begin with.
It wasn't just her scary voice-she also gave off a gloomy, strange vibe.
But she was the only Orianto woman among the applicants.
Moreover, she had earnestly promised to work well once hired.
Philip thought to give her a chance.
If she didn't perform well, he could just fire her.
But now, he was beginning to regret it.
The more he looked at her, the stranger she seemed, but he couldn't put his finger on why.
"Alright. Enough about your situation," Philip said. "I'll take you all around to get familiar with the environment. We'll assign specific tasks the day after tomorrow. Remember what I've said. If you work well, the Mendoza family will treat you well. But if you can't control yourselves, the consequences will be yours to bear."
"Yes," the others said nervously, except for the woman who had spoken earlier, who seemed unfazed.
At this moment, she spotted Adeline standing a little way off.
A trace of hatred flickered in her eyes beneath the black-rimmed glasses.
The woman thought, "Oh, the heiress of the Mendoza family. I finally saw her again.
"Heh, look at her smug, superior face.”
"It was as if she were watching a show.”
"In her mind, she must look down on us.”
"After all, she was the precious heiress of the Mendoza family.”
"And we are the ones who will be serving her from now on”
"How could someone as noble as her ever think highly of us?"
However, all of this was just Camilla's imagination.
Adeline was simply passing by, and since Joyce was curious, she stood there with her for a while.
At that moment, Adeline was lost in thought, thinking only about Harrison.
She didn't even notice the servants or care about how they viewed her.
Besides, she had always believed that servants were working for their pay. She wouldn't look down on them.
She was always polite when talking to the servants.
At this moment, she was overwhelmed by jealousy and anger.
Looking at Adeline, she sneered again.
"It doesn't matter. I have finally managed to infiltrate the Mendoza family," she thought.
It wasn't in vain that she had paid such a high price.
Even ruining her own throat was worth it.
Now that she was inside the Mendoza family, she would find an opportunity to deal with them.
She would make everyone in the Mendoza family pay for it.
As for those foolish Fletcher and Litzy, they really thought Camilla could help them.

Really Fletcher and Lizzy are fools to play upon, but you Camila watch your back and don't allow Adeline the Mendoza's heiress to notice you . Or else, you will be flushed out just as you came in or even worst means
