One night stand with my president (chapter 540)

 Chapter 540: The Organization

That evening, Isaac didn't get to sleep until late at night.

But he was still upset. When breakfast came around, he kept glaring at Alberto, which made him uncomfortable.

"Dad... why are you staring at me like that?"

Alberto asked.

Isaac sneered, "I'm looking at my dear son, who betrayed me when it really mattered, abandoning me when it counted."

Alberto thought, "Is it really that serious?"

He had seen this kind of thing plenty of times growing up.

He knew that his parents would soon make up as usual.

And besides, it wasn't just him who stood by and watched last night.

But Isaac didn't blame Adeline.

However, as a man, Alberto knew that Isaac should love his wife and daughter.

The only person Isaac could blame was his son.

Compared to Alberto, Adeline calmly finished her breakfast, occasionally messaging Harrison on her phone.

Not only that, but Isaac also occasionally asked her with concern, "Have you eaten enough? Do you want some more milk? How about some coffee?"

"No, I'm good." Adeline shook her head. "I can't eat anymore."

Alberto watched this interaction. He wanted to make a sarcastic comment but couldn't bring himself to.

There was no way he could feel jealous. After all, this was his only sister, the one he had so painstakingly found. He couldn't be jealous of her.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed.

Alberto picked it up and glanced at the incoming message, then said in a deep voice, "I've got the information."

Instantly, the whole family's attention shifted to him.

Alberto furrowed his brow, and after a pause, said, "This man belongs to an organization based in Yewhaina, and this group provides services for the wealthy. For the right price, they can take care of anything for their clients."

After a brief pause, he added, "Including murder."

At his words, everyone's face turned grim.

Gracie tightly grasped Adeline's hand, clearly shaken.

If they hadn't sent so many bodyguards to follow Adeline, that man might have tried to harm her yesterday.

But they didn't know why they would want to kill Adeline and who he client behind this was.

"As for this man, he's one of the famous hitman twins in the organization. We haven't figured out whether he's the older or younger one yet. His name is also unknown."

Alberto rubbed his temples. "This organization is careful, and their boss is very mysterious. It's only because this man has been getting a little too cocky in the past two years that he left some traces, which my people were able to track down."

Isaac sneered, "Dare to touch my daughter? They must be tired of living."

"We're certainly not going to let anything happen to Adeline," Gracie said. "So now, the more urgent matter is to find out who the mastermind is, and what exactly they want. Do they want Adeline dead, or do they have another goal?"

The organization had already been exposed, so they could prepare.

But if they didn't find the mastermind, they'd always be at a disadvantage, with the enemy in the dark and them in the light.

"Does the Mendoza family have any enemies ?" Joyce asked.

Gracie smiled wryly. "In business, it's inevitable to make enemies, but I don't think they would go as far as to target the Mendoza family just for business reasons, especially to hurt Adeline."

After all, Adeline hadn't even been involved in the Mendoza family's business yet.

"Maybe it's not about killing Adeline. Maybe they just want to kidnap her," Joyce said, furrowing her brow. "Just like what happened with Benjamin."

"Benjamin? Could it be him? The Mugroaton police haven't found him yet."

"It's possible, but not likely," Alberto said.

"He's now a stray dog, and he wouldn't risk contacting someone from Yewhaina. If he does, it could leave a trace, and then the police will find him. That would be too risky for him."

"If it's not Benjamin, then who could it be?"

"We'll find out when we investigate," Isaac said coldly. "Adeline, stay at home for the time being. Don't go out. Even though you have bodyguards with you, I'm still uneasy. No one can guarantee you'll be fine."

The bodyguards were well-trained and physically capable.

But now that they knew Adeline might be in danger, Isaac didn't feel at ease.

The only way to feel at ease was to keep her at home.

Adeline understood the seriousness of the situation, so she nodded and said, "Okay, I won't go out for the next few days."

"Then I won't go out either," Joyce said. "I'll stay at home with you."

Truth be told, she was nervous too. Although there wasn't much she could do, she figured if Adeline was right under her nose, she could feel more at ease.

Adeline smiled and said, "Come on, don't look so serious. After everything we've been through, we're all doing fine now, right? I believe no matter what happens, we'll get through it."

Besides, thingstweren't that dangerous.

The Mendoza family wasn't to be trifled with in Yewhaina.

"But are you really not going to tell Harrison about this?" Gracie asked.

Adeline shook her head. "Don't let him know."

She decided to wait until Harrison had sorted out his business before telling him.

At times like this, she didn't want to make him worry.

Actually, Harrison had already sent many people to protect her here.

But this matter wasn't handled by Harrison's people, so they probably didn't know about it.

At that moment, Alberto sighed deeply.

He said earnestly, "Adeline, even though you've been with Harrison for a long time, it seems like you still don't fully understand men."

"Huh?" Adeline asked, confused.

"As a man, he definitely wants to be by his girlfriend's side when she's in trouble. If, after everything's settled, he finds out, he'll regret it, feel frustrated, and blame himself for not being there when you needed him."

Adeline's brow twitched.

In truth, she had vaguely realized this last night.

She wasn't sure if she understood men, but she understood Harrison.

Last night, when she thought Harrison would understand her, she felt a bit guilty.

Later, as she lay in bed ready to sleep, she thought that Harrison would probably be upset when he found out about it.

She figured that she would just comfort him properly when the time came.

After all, she'd return to his side safe and sound.

But now, with Alberto saying this, she felt torn inside.

"I know you don't want him to worry, and you don't want to distract him from his important work. But if he had the choice, he'd rather be busy with more things now than later regret not being there for you. The feeling of regret would be much worse than being busy."
