One night stand with my president (chapter 485)

Chapter 485: Pretending She's by His Side

Harrison remained silent.

Normally, he was fine with being whatever she needed him to be when she was around.

But now, to face the microphone like this, it was really putting him in a difficult spot.

"I'm just kidding," Adeline yawned. "I think the wind's picking up. I'm heading to bed."

"Mm, go back and rest. If you're going out tomorrow, remember to bundle up so you don't catch a cold."

"Got it," she replied.

Adeline kissed the microphone and hung up.

After hanging up, she couldn't help but laugh.

Sometimes, she really enjoyed teasing Harrison because he was just so adorable.

As she was about to return, her phone lit up.

She glanced down to see a message from Harrison.

He had sent her a kiss emoji.

At that moment, Adeline nearly had her heart stop from how cute he was.

She just wanted to rush back to kiss and hug him.

Adeline felt like she was losing her mind.

Back at the Gilmore family, Adeline took a shower in the guest room bathroom, then lay on the bed chatting with Harrison.

Tomorrow, Harrison was going to attend that fashion show.

Adeline planned to go to the church.

"If you could come with me to the show tomorrow, that would be perfect," Harrison sighed.

His words suddenly sparked a thought in Adeline's mind.

"If I weren't in Aurgville, I'd definitely go with you to the show," she said. "Wait, is someone planning something at the show?"

Although the show was in collaboration with a new fashion brand under the Thomson Group, it wasn't exactly a top priority for the group.

Even if something did happen, it wouldn't have a significant impact on the Thomson Group.

If they were really targeting the Thomson Group, they wouldn't go through the trouble of making a fuss here.

"So is their target Harrison?" Adeline wondered.

"It's fine," Harrison said. "Don't worry about me."

No one could touch him.

Adeline replied, "I know you're strong, but still, we should be cautious. They might not go after you directly, and we don't know what method they'll use. Do you remember what happened when Kaylie drugged you?"

Harrison chuckled. "That's exactly why I've been extra cautious ever since."

After a pause, he added, "I'm going to be with you forever, and I won't give anyone the chance to plot against me. Don't worry."

Hearing him say that, Adeline felt much better.

She said, "I trust you."

Adeline felt sleepy. While chatting with Harrison, she drifted off to sleep.

The call was still connected.

Harrison knew she had fallen asleep but didn't want to hang up, so he just listened to her steady breathing.

He turned and looked at the empty space beside him, sighing.

He longed to hear her breathing, pretending she was there, but it still didn't feel quite right.

The next morning, Adeline woke up early.

After getting ready and changing into workout clothes, she stepped out of the guest room to find Elissa humming in the kitchen, full of energy and far from the image of someone who was sick.

Upon hearing the noise, Elissa turned around.

When she saw Adeline, she nearly dropped the spatula in surprise.

"Adeline, you... you're up so early?"

Elissa usually made breakfast, and she'd gotten up early today to cook, thinking she'd go back to rest afterward. She didn't expect Adeline to be up so early and caught her in the act.

"I went to bed early last night," Adeline smiled.

"Elissa, why are you making breakfast? Shouldn't you be resting? Let me help."

She walked over to take the spatula from Elissa.

"No," Elissa quickly dodged. "You're the guest; you shouldn't be making breakfast. Stop..."

"It's fine," Adeline said. "You're the patient. You shouldn't be working; let me do it."

Left with no choice, Elissa had to stop, but she couldn't really let Adeline cook, so she shouted,"Alvaro! Hurry up!"

Her shout startled Adeline.

Adeline couldn't stop her lips from twitching.

Elissa's shout didn't exactly sound like something a sick person would do.

Alvaro groggily walked out of his room.

"Mom, why are you shouting..?"

When he saw the scene in the kitchen, his eyes widened, and he immediately woke up.

He quickly strode over and grabbed the spatula from Elissa's hand, saying anxiously, "Mom, what are you doing? The doctor said you need to rest. No working. Didn't I say I'd cook for you during this time?"

"Oh, yes... You know how I am. I can't just sit still," Elissa said awkwardly.

"Have you been feeling any stomach pain?"

Alvaro said, secretly giving Elissa a signal.

He thought he was being discreet, but Adeline had already seen through it all.

"Oh, actually, it does hurt a little... Alvaro, you take over. I need to rest for a bit," Elissa admitted.

"Elissa, I'll help you back to your room," Adeline said with a gentle smile.

"Ah? Oh, alright..."

Alvaro watched them head back to the room, feeling a pang of anxiety.

He felt like Adeline had probably figured out the truth.

She was looking at him like he was a joke.

"Never mind," he thought. Why should he care?

As long as he followed the instructions and kept Adeline in Aurgville for a few more days, his job would be done. Anything else wasn't his problem.

After breakfast, Adeline left for Somersoll Mount.

Her bodyguard drove her there.

Along the way, the bodyguard glanced at the rearview mirror. "Miss Hensley, there's a taxi behind us, following us closely."

"Don't worry about it," Adeline replied indifferently.

It was definitely Alvaro following her.

He was probably afraid she was trying to leave Aurgville secretly.

Adeline just let him follow if he wanted to.

She wouldn't be the one tired out.

When they reached the foot of the mountain, the car couldn't go any further.

Adeline got out of the car.

Somersoll Mount didn't require an entrance ticket, so she started climbing.

It was a weekday, so there weren’t too many people around.

Adeline wasn't in a hurry, taking her time to climb up alone.

The mountain was quite high.

Though she had good stamina, she was winded by the time she reached the top.

And of course, the church was located at the top of the mountain.

When she saw the church's gate, Adeline nearly tore up.

The church didn't have a plaque or any signs.

No wonder when she searched for this church online, all she found were references to the mountain, not the church itself.

Most people who climbed this mountain seemed to be coming to the church.

Many people were going in and out of the church.

Adeline walked in too.

She originally wanted to pray like the others.

But just then, a hermit walked toward her.
