Chapter 389: Are You Pregnant?
Benjamin slammed the wine glass onto the floor, shattering it.
Then, he strode up to her, grabbed her chin with one hand, and forced her to look up at him.
"I won't allow you to say things like that," he snarled. "In your life, there's only room for me, no other man."
Adeline sneered. "I'm not interested in going along with your self-deception."
Benjamin's eyes darkened dangerously.
Suddenly, his gaze dropped, slowly moving to her red lips.
Adeline noticed where he was looking.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she instantly raised her leg to kick him.
Caught off guard, Benjamin staggered back several steps from the force of her kick.
"Don't touch me!" she spat, disgust clear in her voice.
But Benjamin didn't get angry.
He simply smiled enigmatically, as though her reaction didn't surprise him in the slightest.
"It's alright, Adeline," he said. "Right now, you won't let me touch you, but I won't force you. I know that one day, you'll willingly come to.me for all kinds of intimacy."
Adeline felt bile rise in her throat.
And then, she really did throw up.
But there was nothing in her stomach.
So, she just leaned over the side of the bed and gagged.
Benjamin watched her, his brow furrowing suddenly.
"Adeline, you're not pregnant, are you?" His tone was strange, a little too curious.
Adeline thought to herself, He's overthinking it.
It wasn't pregnancy; it was his disgusting behavior that made her sick.
But she couldn't be bothered to explain that to Benjamin.
Benjamin started pacing nervously.
He muttered to himself, "Pregnant..."
After a while, he abruptly stopped and turned to face her. "Is it Harrison's child?"
Adeline still ignored him.
Benjamin, not getting an answer, murmured to himself for a while longer.
Then, out of nowhere, he began to laugh strangely.
Adeline frowned, her distaste for him growing by the second.
She thought, "This man is seriously unhinged."
"Adeline," Benjamin grinned, "I just thought of something very interesting. What if, after you give birth to the child, I ask Harrison to choose between you and the baby? He can only pick one who do you think he would choose?"
He sounded like he had just discovered something delightfully wicked, his laughter filling the air.
Adeline smiled faintlv. "He'd choose to have you die.”
"Adeline, don't make him out to be so
formidable," Benjamin scoffed. "Let's make a bet. I'll hide you so well that he'll never find you."
Adeline closed her eyes, tired of engaging with him.
She still felt lightheaded and nauseous.
It was likely the drug was still working its way through her system.
Damn Benjamin for using this drug on her.
She had no idea if it had side effects.
What she was most worried about was that the Mendoza family would be going crazy trying to find her.
And then there was Harrison...
Adeline suddenly felt an intense longing for him.
Her heart ached with how much she missed him.
She hated Benjamin, she didn't want to be anywhere near him.
Adeline just wanted to hold Harrison right now.
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she refused to .
show any weakness in front of Benjamin.
She fought back the tears, telling herself to stay strong.
Adeline thought, "It was fine. I have faith in my family and in Harrison. They would find a way to track me down."
But for now, she had to think of a way to escape on her own.
However, she'd have to wait until the plane landed first.
Adeline ignored Benjamin; it was pointless to keep talking to him.
"Adeline, I advise you not to think about escaping," Benjamin said, his voice low. "I've gone, through a lot to bring you to my side. I won't let you run. No matter how many plans you make, they'll be in vain. I wouldn't want you to tire yourself out."
With that, he left the room.
After he was gone, Adeline took a careful look around.
Sure enough, her phone was gone.
She was still wearing the gown she had worn to the Livingston family banquet.
Looking at the gown, she frowned slightly.
It had been fine for the banquet, but now, it was totally impractical for an escape.
Adeline closed her eyes, laying back down.
She still felt dizzy and needed to rest.
She had to regain her strength, so she would have the energy to escape once the plane landed.
The effects of the drug were still lingering, and Adeline drifted into a semiconscious sleep.
How long had she been asleep? She was suddenly woken by the sound of someone knocking at the door.
Rubbing her eyes, she sat up and heard a woman's voice from outside.
"Miss, Mr. Tillman asked me to bring you some clothes. The plane will land soon, and he said your current outfit isn't suitable. He told me to bring you a new set."
"Leave them at the door," Adeline replied.
Though she hated Benjamin, there was no need to make a fuss over the clothes.
The gown wasn't practical for escaping, after all.
"Okay."
A little while later, Adeline felt a bit better, so she went to the door and opened it.
Outside, there was a bag and a box waiting for her.
She brought them inside and opened the bag to find a new set of clothes—a simple T-shirt and sweatpants.
The box contained a pair of sneakers.
They were perfect for an escape.
But this also meant Benjamin wasn't worried about her running away.
If he had been, he wouldn't have given her such clothes.
Adeline examined the clothes carefully before changing into them.
Honestly, the clothes were a bit too big, but they would do.
Fortunately, the shoes fit perfectly.
Once she had changed, Adeline felt the plane starting to descend.
Her heart tightened.
Though she usually remained calm, the unknown path ahead was daunting.
And she still had to face that creepy Benjamin.
The plane landed, and several women surrounded Adeline as she disembarked.
The women stuck close to her, shadowing her every move.
A little farther off, several strong men followed suit.
Adeline was completely surrounded.
As soon as they exited the airport, she was shoved into a car.
The only other occupant was Benjamin, besides the driver.
The car was spacious, with a minibar on board.
Benjamin once again had a glass of wine in his hand, swirling it around.
Adeline furrowed her brow, sensing something wasn't quite right.
When she was at the airport, she noticed many signs in Daltoria script.
She wasn't fluent in Daltoria, but she understood some of it.
This was Daltoria.
Logically, the Mendoza family should have been able to trace Benjamin's private plane to this location.
Even though operating in a foreign country wasn't ideal, they could've stationed some people near the airport.
Yet, they had boarded a car without issue.
"Are you wondering why no one's blocking us at the airport?" Benjamin's calm voice cut through her thoughts. "Well, I lied to the Mendoza family... and I lied to you too. The plane we just boarded wasn't actually mine."
