One night stand with my president(Chapter 469)

 Chapter 469: I Don't Know

"Miss Hensley, I really don't know. Just believe me." Kyson lowered his head and said. "I was out of my mind, seeing money and sending you that text, but I truly don't know who gave me the money to do this. You can beat me if you want, but I don't know who they are."

"I'm not going to hit you," Adeline said. "It would only dirty my hands."

Kyson suddenly let out a chuckle, saying, "Miss Hensley, yes, I schemed against you that night, but now you're with Mr. Thomson, right? Since that's the case, there's no need to keep dwelling on what happened that night, is there?"

"That's two different things. Don't confuse them," Adeline said angrily.

Even though she was now with Harrison, the fact that she had been schemed against by Kyson that night remained true.

Just because she liked Harrison, it didn't mean she could ignore being schemed against.

And who knew if there was some bigger plot behind it.

"Alright, don't get upset," Harrison said, gently patting her back to calm her down.

He didn't want to upset Adeline.

Kyson hesitated and said, "But I really don't know..."

"How's your sister doing abroad?" Harrison suddenly asked.

Kyson's body stiffened.

He looked at Harrison in shock and trembled as he asked, "How do you know?"

Harrison smiled and said, "Your parents divorced when you were young. You stayed with your dad, and your sister stayed with your mom, so you've never been in the same household. And you haven't been in touch for years. You thought no one would look into things from over twenty years ago and that no one would know about your sister, didn't you?"

Kyson's face went pale.

Harrison continued, "If I'm not mistaken, the person behind this not only gave you money but also gave your sister money, and arranged for her to be sent abroad."

Because in Orianto, there were no traces of Kyson's sister.

Of course, the mastermind behind this had been very discreet.

For now, Harrison's people had yet to track down where Kyson's sister was hiding.

"I know you don't care about your own life,"

Harrison said. "Because you've been diagnosed with cancer, and you've probably only got about six months left, right?"

Kyson's face grew even paler.

"But if you tell me who's been giving you orders, I'll arrange for several specialists to collaborate on your treatment. There might still be a chance for you," Harrison continued. "Your condition isn't hopeless.

There have been cases of it being cured, and with six months left, it's not too late to start treatment."

A flicker of hope appeared in Kyson's eyes.

People always have a survival instinct.

Even though Kyson had long accepted his fate, hearing that he still had a chance to live, he was tempted.

But when Kyson thought about his sister...

The mastermind knew her every move.

If he spoke, his sister would be in danger.

Kyson remembered his sister, smiling and following him when she was little.

When their parents divorced, he had begged his father to take his sister with him, but his father only took him and moved them to a different city.

After that, Kyson lost contact with his sister.

It wasn't until last year that he finally reconnected with her.

And that was when he learned that his sister had been suffering all these years.

Her stepfather abused her, and she was bullied at school.

She had developed depression.

When Kyson found out, he slapped himself several times in anger.

If he had been by her side all these years, she wouldn't have suffered so much.

Just as he swore to take care of her and earn money to pay for her treatment, he was diagnosed with cancer.

It felt like a thunderbolt out of the blue.

After finally reconnecting with his sister and planning to care for her, he found out he was going to die.

"What would happen to my sister after I died?" Kyson was worried.

She had depression, her mother was dead, and neither her father nor her stepfather cared for her. How would she survive on her own in this world?

Just then, someone contacted him.

If he helped that person and kept quiet, they would ensure his sister received treatment abroad for her depression and give her a large sum of money to secure her future.

But that person emphasized that Kyson must remain silent.

Kyson could never reveal the mastermind's identity to Harrison.

Otherwise, his sister would die.

Now his sister had been sent abroad, and if he spoke, it would all fall apart...

With that thought, Kyson clenched his fists.

"Mr. Thomson, it's true that I have cancer, and I do have a sister, but I really don't know who the mastermind is," he said with difficulty.

His sister had suffered so much over the past twenty years, and now, he was willing to sacrifice his life for her future security.

"So you're willing to trade your life for your sister's peace of mind?" Adeline said, seeing through his thoughts. "You trust that person so much? Have you thought that, after you die, that person might go back on their word and abandon your sister? She'll be alone in a foreign country, with no one to help her... You're telling me you trust that person? I really don't understand. If they could be this scheming, why would you believe they'll keep their promise?"

Kyson's eyelids twitched slightly.

He knew Adeline was right, but...

"It's not that I trust that person. It's that I really don't know," Kyson said. "I can't contact my sister right now."

He guessed that Harrison probably hadn't found his sister yet.

Otherwise, she would have been brought to him by now.

Adeline and Harrison exchanged a glance.

"Let's go for now," Adeline said.

Harrison left with her.

Kyson sat alone in the room, trembling.

After leaving the shabby hotel, the two got into a car.

Harrison said, "Adeline, don't get too upset. It's not worth it."

"I know," Adeline said in a low voice. "I wanted to give him a good talking-to, but after hearing about his cancer, I'll let it go."

Kyson had taken money from others to scheme against her, and she naturally hated him for it.

But Kyson was also a pitiful person.

Adeline didn't want to forgive him, but there was no need to do anything more.

And even if she did beat him up now, he would never reveal the mastermind.

"The best thing now is to find his sister," Harrison said.

Adeline nodded. "If we can find his sister and guarantee her safety, he should be willing to tell the truth."

"Actually, I have a suspect."

Adeline looked at Harrison. "I do too."
