Eleanor stared at the men in front of her with desperation.
Each one of them was large and muscular, picking her up like she was a child.
There was no way she could fight her way out.
"Is Harrison really this ruthless?" Eleanor's voice trembled. "After all the years we've shared..."
"Miss Fraser," the man leading the group interrupted her, "Mr. Thomson and you have no ties left. Moreover, you know exactly why Lance had Amber killed. You're involved in this, and we're here to save the Orianto police the trouble by taking you straight to them."
"How could he do this?" Eleanor, realizing there was no escape, went hysterical. "All this... just for Adeline?"
"Let's not list everything you've done, shall we?"
The man said coldly. "And Lance already confessed. Since you were brought to Mugroaton, you've been pressuring him to kill Mr. Thomson and Miss Hensley. He hesitated because he didn't have the power, but if he could have, would you have shown mercy?"
Eleanor was silenced.
She wouldn't have shown mercy.
If Lance could have helped her kill Harrison and Adeline, she would have felt nothing but satisfaction.
She still had some affection for Harrison deep down.
But the hatred was just as strong, if not-stronger.
She truly wanted Harrison and Adeline to die.
The man seemed to lose his patience and waved his hand. "Take her."
"I still have something to say to Harrison!" Eleanor suddenly shouted. "The Fraser family once helped him. Doesn't he remember?"
At her words, the men froze for a moment.
"Helped him? What was this about?"
They didn't know what to do with this information.
"Call Mr. Thomson," one of them ordered.
One of the bodyguards made a phone call.
But Harrison didn't pick up.
Another bodyguard said, "Mr. Thomson is probably busy taking care of Miss Hensley."
Those words struck Eleanor like a dagger to the heart.
She glared at him, full of resentment.
But they had no time to focus on her glare.
"Call Rowen."
The bodyguard dialed Rowen next.
Rowen, unsure of the situation, said, "Forget it, take her to Daltoria first. Let her speak directly to Mr. Thomson. It will save us a lot of trouble later."
"Yes."
The bodyguard followed the orders, roughly lifting Eleanor. "We're taking you to Daltoria to see Mr. Thomson. You'd better behave and don't make things harder for us.
Without Lance's protection, catching you isn't a problem, just a little more trouble."
Eleanor didn't speak, only nodding.
She knew it was useless to run now.
Since Lance had been taken, she had been drifting, alone and unprotected.
No one would guard her, and no one was coming to her rescue.
Could she ask Benjamin for help? He probably wished she were dead by now.
Even if she somehow escaped from Harrison's men, Benjamin's people would catch her immediately.
By then, her fate would be much worse than being handed over to the police.
After all, if it hadn't been for her, Lance wouldn't have had Amber killed.
Either way, now she had the chance to see Harrison.
Just seeing him was a good thing.
Honestly, if it weren't necessary, she wouldn't want to bring up the past-she felt guilty, afraid someone would see through her motives...
But now, she had no choice but to gamble.
Even though Adeline had been found, the Thomson and Mendoza families had not stopped seeking revenge on the Tillman family.
The grudge they held was far from over.
They wouldn't rest until they had destroyed
Benjamin's family.
Though their influence in Mugroaton was not as strong as the Tillman family, the two families had united, and with a few more allies, toppling the Tillman family was just a matter of time.
As a result, Benjamin's father was furious with him. "If it weren't for your reckless actions, our family wouldn't be in such a mess, and your brother wouldn't have been captured."
Benjamin remained silent as his father raged.
He knew his father well-arguing back would only make things worse.
After his father had vented, Benjamin returned to his office.
His face was so dark it looked like a storm was about to break. The secretaries and assistants stood by, holding their breath.
"Where's Eleanor?" He suddenly asked.
"She was taken by Harrison's men," one assistant replied.
Benjamin slammed his hand down, knocking the glass on his desk to the floor.
One secretary hurriedly stepped forward to clean up the mess.
Fortunately, Benjamin didn't lash out any further; instead, he asked, "Has anyone been keeping an eye on Daltoria Hospital?"
"Yes," the assistant said, "We've received word that Miss Hensley is not in any life-threatening danger."
Benjamin's hands clenched into fists.
It was his fault.
He had been too careless.
He had allowed a spy to infiltrate his own trusted circle.
And he nearly got Adeline killed.
The thought of Adeline being shot made his heart ache, and he wished he could take her pain.
He remembered how Whitney was terrified of pain.
Even a small cut on her finger made hes cry, and he had to comfort her.
Benjamin thought, "Adeline must have felt the same way, right?"
Despite all the things piling up around him, he was most desperate to go to Daltoria to see Adeline.
"Book me a flight to Daltoria," Benjamin ordered Odin, his assistant.
Odin was taken aback and quickly said, "Are you sure, sir? It might not be the best time for you to go."
"Please consider carefully," another assistant urged. "We all understand your concern for Miss Hensley, but if you leave now, your father and the family will be éven angrier, and their opinions of you will only grow worse. If they bring back the other illegitimate sons..."
Odin had been with Benjamin for a long time and genuinely had his best interests at heart.
Benjamin understood, but this only made him more frustrated.
He lit a cigar and took a couple of deep puffs, saying, "Forget it, I won't go to Daltoria for now. Just have them keep a close watch. If anything happens to Adeline, report it to me immediately."
"Yes, sir."
Benjamin looked at the photo on his desk.
Whitney was smiling happily in the photo.
"Whitney, I've lost you again," he whispered, gently rubbing the picture with his thumb.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry..."
