One night stand with my president(chapter 458)

Chapter 458: Blame Yourself

Alondra sat curled up in the bathroom, sobbing uncontrollably.

In her memory, her parents had never fought like this before.

It terrified her.

More than anything, she just wanted her father to come to his senses and take them both back to Yewhaina.

They could still be a family.

Why wouldn't he want that anymore?

If he didn't want it, then why did he run away with Mom back then? Why did he bring her into this world at all?

Suddenly, the shouting outside stopped.

She sat up, holding her breath.

They seemed to stop fighting.

Her heart fluttered with hope.

She thought, "Maybe they made up? Maybe Daddy decided we can go home together again?"

She slowly opened the bathroom door.

Her father was slumped on the couch, gasping for air.

Her mother was lying on the floor.

Something looked wrong with her face.

She thought, "Why is Mom on the floor? Isn't it cold down there?"

Alondra saw they weren't yelling anymore, so she summoned the courage to step out.

She ran toward her Mom, wanting to help her onto the bed.

But before she could reach her, Edward snapped, "Who told you to come out? Get back inside!"

Alondra froze in place, trembling.

Her voice was soft and full of fear. "Daddy... don't be mad. I just thought the floor's cold. I... I wanted to help Mommy get into bed..."

She didn't understand and thought, "They weren't fighting anymore. Why was he still so angry? When he saw her red-rimmed eyes, something flickered through Edward's mind.

"She can't know. She can't find out what l've done."

His tone softened abruptly. "Alondra, don't worry. Mommy's just upset with me. She's sulking a little, that's all. She won't lie there long, I promise. Go back into the bathroom for a bit, okay? We still have a few things to talk about."

His gentler voice made her more obedient.

"Okay... I understand."

Still, as she turned to go back, something felt strange.

She thought, "Is there a mark on Mommy's neck?"

She couldn't tell what it was.

But she didn't think too hard about it.

All she wanted was for them to stop fighting... to be a family again.

So she returned to the bathroom, her heart full of hope-waiting for the moment when she could come out again and hear her parents tell her that they would stay together, as a family, forever.

Edward collapsed onto the couch like a man drained of life.

He'd lost control.

In a blind moment of rage-he'd wrapped his hands around Britney's throat.

And by the time he'd realized what he was doing, she was already on the floor, lifeless,

He had killed her.

Edward stared at her body in horror.

All their memories, all the years they'd shared - none of that mattered now.

All he could think was how to cover this up.

He had killed Britney.

He would be sent to prison, maybe even the death penalty.

Everything-the wealth, the comfort, the

Thomson name-it would all vanish.

Worse, the Thomson family would loathe him more than ever.

No one could know.

Luckily... Britney had no friends or connections here.

Everyone who did know her-Adeline, the Thomsons-they all despised her. No one would care if she disappeared.

He could just say she'd gone back to Yewhaina.

No one would check.

He just had to get rid of the body.

Forcing himself to calm down, Edward glanced at* the suitcase in the corner, the one Britney had packed when they came to Orianto.

It was large.

He stuffed her inside, zipped it up, and dragged it downstairs.

No one batted an eye-plenty of people checked out with luggage.

He wheeled the suitcase outside.

Cold sweat beaded on his forehead as people passed by, chatting and laughing, oblivious.

His car was parked right outside.

He'd driven them here himself.

He threw the suitcase into the trunk, slid behind the wheel, and drove off.

On the way, he stopped at a hardware store and bought a shovel.

Then kept driving.

He didn't stop until he was far from the city-somewhere desolate and dark.

Just to be safe, he got out and checked the area.

No cameras. No people. No buildings.

He started digging.

Panic made him strong.

He dug like a madman, tearing up the earth until he had a deep pit.

Then he tossed the suitcase in and filled the hole with dirt. He didn't stop until the ground looked untouched.

Then he collapsed, gasping for breath, staring at the earth he'd just buried.

"Don't blame me... don't blame me..." he muttered. "You should've listened. If you had just gone back to Yewhaina like I said, none of this would've happened."

He glanced once more at the fresh dirt.

A chill shot through him. He scrambled to his feet and ran back to the car, peeling away down the road.

By the time he returned to the hotel, night had fallen.

He slipped in through the back entrance and crept upstairs.

He opened the bathroom door.

Alondra was curled up in the bathtub, fast asleep.

She'd been too scared to leave without his

permission and had eventually dozed off waiting.

He moved to wake her but caught his reflection in the mirror.

Dirt streaked his shirt, his pants, his skin.

He left the bathroom and found another suitcase.

Inside were the spare clothes he hadn't brought back to the Thomson house.

He changed, washed his hands, and returned to wake her.

"Alondra... hey, sweetheart..."

She blinked, groggy, then startled.

"Daddy? You... you don't look so good."

He smiled, lips stiff. "We should head home now."

But something about him felt wrong.

Alondra had seen him angry before, but never like this.

"Which home?" she asked timidly.

"The Thomson mansion, of course," he said with a smile. "It's dinner time."

"Where's Mommy?"

Edward's smile faltered. Then he answered, almost too smoothly, "She's gone."

Alondra froze.

She bolted out of the tub and ran into the room.

Her mother was nowhere to be found.

  2. When Edward ran off with Brittney, he didn't see the consequences steering in his face!
How selfish he is that made Myra had to divorced him as not to involve her in his disgrace. That also has served Brittney right, for aiding and abetting Edward to leave his wife and son to have her own child as daughter.
It's a pity for Edward generally because with Harrison at the Thompson's Villa, how would he feel relaxed and happy.
