Chapter 421: We Will Love Each Other
"Harrison, no, Mr. Thomson, do you know why I suddenly went back to Orianto?"
Eleanor said with a bitter smile. "I was doing just fine in Mugroaton, enjoying my career as a superstar. Lance was pushing me forward, and if I stayed there, my resources would have been even better, and my status would have risen. But I left... why?"
She rambled on, but Harrison had no patience for her words.
While she was speaking to him, her eyes never left Adeline, and that made him uncomfortable.
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
"I came back to Orianto because I saw the photos of you and her," Eleanor continued, pointing at Adeline.
"In the past, there were rumors about you and other women, but I always knew they were just rumors," Eleanor cried. "But when I saw the photos of you with her, I panicked. It felt so real, and even I couldn't deny it."
And as it turned out, she wasn't wrong.
Now, Harrison and Adeline were truly together.
"I regret it. I truly regret it.." Eleanor sobbed uncontrollably. "If only I hadn't held onto that hope, if only I hadn't come back to Orianto, if only..."
"Eleanor, you still don't understand the point," Harrison said.
He looked at her with no emotion in his eyes.
"What?" Eleanor asked, confused.
But Harrison had no intention of explaining further. He glanced at Rowen, who immediately understood and took Eleanor away.
After they left the hospital, Rowen quickly booked a flight and arranged for Eleanor's return to Orianto.
Several capable bodyguards were assigned to make sure Eleanor couldn't escape.
Sitting in the car, Eleanor was lost in thought.
She couldn't help herself and finally asked Rowen, "What exactly did Harrison mean by that? What did he mean by I don't understand the point'?"
Rowen gave her a sideways glance, and with a sigh, explained, "The point is, you've had ill intentions. Think about all the bad things you've done. You really want me to list them out for you?"
Eleanor smiled bitterly upon hearing that.
"So, in the end, he thinks I'm a bad woman," she muttered.
After Eleanor left, Harrison seemed unusually cheerful.
"So we met that early," he kept repeating to Adeline.
Adeline couldn't help but laugh.
"Yes, yes, we met a long time ago," she said, ruffling his hair. "You've said that so many times, aren't you thirsty?"
"I'm not thirsty," Harrison replied.
Then his expression shifted, looking regretful.
"Even though we met early, we never spoke a
word to each other," Harrison said. "If only we had properly met back then, maybe we could have grown up together."
Adeline couldn't stop herself from laughing.
"Well, if we grew up together, what would have happened?"
Harrison's eyes grew distant, as if he had lost in a dream.
"We would've gone to school together, played together."
"Think about it," Adeline teased. "We could never have gone to the same school."
Harrison thought about it and nodded.
From elementary to high school, he had always attended elite schools.
"Then I'd just come find you after school,"
Harrison said.
He didn't even suggest transferring Adeline to his school, knowing full well that she would never agree to that.
"Do you even have time for that?" Adeline joked.
"After school, aren't you supposed to rush home to continue your lessons?"
Harrison sighed.
That was right. After school, he would have to go home and continue his studies.
After all, he was the best among his peers, carrying the weight of high expectations.
"I'd make time," Harrison insisted. "If we had known each other since childhood, on your eighteenth birthday, I would confess, and we could be together sooner."
Adeline couldn't help but laugh. She reached out and tapped his forehead. "You're making it sound so simple. If we had grown up together, maybe by now, we would have been like brothers, just like you and Mr. Juarez."
"No way," Harrison said confidently.
"Why?"
Harrison held her hand tightly and said, "I believe that we will love each other."
Adeline felt a warmth in her heart, and her eyes suddenly grew moist. The world around her seemed to blur.
"You're such a fool," she said softly.
"I'm a fool," Harrison said, regret in his voice.
"That's why I couldn't protect you, and you got hurt."
"Then just protect me from now on," Adeline said with a smile. "I always believe that the future is the most important. Don't you think so?"
"Yes." Harrison nodded vigorously. "Adeline, we'll have a wonderful future. I promise you."
"I believe you."
After Adeline fell asleep, Harrison finally left the hospital room.
Rowen had also returned from the airport.
"Mr. Thomson, our people have taken Eleanor onto the plane," Rowen reported.
"Good," Harrison said without a flicker of
emotion. "Tell them to hand her over to the police as soon as she gets off the plane. Don't waste any time."
"Don't worry, Mr. Thomson. I've already given the instructions. Also, we noticed a few men acting suspiciously near the hospital, watching the movements here. When I came up, I saw two men near the stairs, occasionally looking toward Miss Hensley's room."
Harrison's lips curled into a cold smile.
"Benjamin's people," he said.
"I thought so," Rowen replied.
"Get rid of them," Harrison ordered. "Don't make too much noise. After all, it's a hospital, and we don't want to disturb the other patients."
"Understood."
After Rowen left, Harrison quietly
opened the door to the hospital room, looking at Adeline as she slept peacefully in bed.
He knew that Benjamin was concerned about Adeline's condition.
But Benjamin didn't deserve to care.
He just treated Adeline as a substitute and still had the nerve to try to act like he cared.
It was disgusting.
Harrison would never allow Benjamin anywhere near Adeline.
At the airport, as the plane Eleanor was on took off, another plane landed.
Joyce rushed out of the airport.
Gracie was waiting for her at the entrance.
"Gracie, how is Adeline?" Joyce ran over with red eyes.
"Don't worry. She's fine," Gracie reassured her.
Joyce had been trying to contact Adeline but couldn't reach her, so she had desperately called Gracie.
Gracie, not wanting her to worry, had kept the truth from her.
It wasn't until Adeline arrived at the hospital that she told Joyce what had happened.
Gracie knew Joyce must have been worried about Adeline, so she arranged for someone to bring her to the hospital.
